TIL that in 2018, a 14-year-old girl named Cindy Redmond had an air horn blasted into her ear by her friend's stepfather after she wouldn't get off her phone. This caused her to develop hyperacusis, a rare hearing disorder which makes any small noise cause her immense pain.

I got a $1200 payment from a random person on Venmo
I received a payment of $1200 from a stranger on Venmo and immediately after, I got two requests for $1200 from the same person. They’re saying it’s for their wedding venue and that they accidentally sent it to the wrong person. Is it safe for me to send it back to them or could that potentially open me up to getting hacked? I tried contacting Venmo and they have not been helpful. The person seems legit and there’s other transactions relating to a wedding on their profile too.

What is the most inappropriate thing you have seen or heard someone do on their first day of work?
When I worked at a supermarket, I had to train a 17 year old girl on her first day.
While we were putting out the ready meals, I tried to break the ice with some casual small talk: "Do you prefer Chinese or Indian food?"
Big mistake.
She immediately launched into a foul mouthed rant full of slurs about how much she hated Indian people. When I cut her off and explained how completely out of line and racist she was being, she just shrugged and said:
"You shouldn't have asked if you didn't want to hear the truth."
Safe to say, her supermarket career ended almost as soon as it started.

In his prime, James Harden maintained an insane routine: he'd party and drink heavily until 5 a.m., show up for practice at 7 a.m., take a short nap during the day, play an NBA game that night, and then go right back to partying and drinking all over again.

Local London Wheelchairs have priority over buggies in the wheelchair space on buses
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
I’m a full-time wheelchair user. I’ve lived in London 14 years. Being unable to get on a bus due to there being buggies in the wheelchair priority space happens to me on a weekly basis (a conservative estimate).
I understand that many buggies these days don’t fold, and it is difficult to travel with children. I sympathise. However, wheelchair users still have priority, for these reasons:
1) There are many more buggies than wheelchairs. Statistically, it is likely the next bus will also have a buggy. If I didn’t have priority and always had to wait for a bus without a buggy, I would regularly be waiting for the 3rd, 4th, 5th bus, making bus travel totally unfeasible.
2) I use a wheelchair full time, and will do so for my whole life. So I obviously get buses in a wheelchair 100% of the time. Parents will only be travelling with buggies for a short period of their lives.
3) Buggies should be folded! Wheelchairs cannot be.
4) Wheelchair users have extremely limited alternatives for travel (the nearest step free Tube station is miles away).
5) The only reason the space exists in the first place is because disabled activists campaigned successfully for a change in bus design. We fought for our right to use buses.
I always try to keep calm in these scenarios and be polite and gentle, but this man was so awful (and couldn’t be reasoned with) that I swore at him. It’s exhausting having to constantly battle just to go about daily life.
Please, if you travel with a buggy and a wheelchair user needs to board, fold it or vacate the space.

Rant & Ramble I’m leaving him tomorrow and he has no clue
This is my first post here. Dinner was a Mediterranean quesadilla and sweet potato fries.
So for 12 years, he’s not been able to keep a job. He’s gotten two really good ones over the years, but he usually ends up getting fired for poor attendance. He just stops going. We’ve had conversations about it. I told him the next time he loses his job, the best one he’s had in that 12 years, that i am done. Guess what girls? He lost that job after being on leave for 6 months. He didn’t communicate with the team, so he was fired for no call no show. We were a joint $100,000 a year household.. now we are a 54k household with my money, or i suppose a 74k household since he started working at a grocery store instead.. he tried therapy, he said it wasn’t helping and he said his mindset can’t be fixed and he doesn’t know why he can’t keep a job.
At our current point, because he was out of work, i spent 6k in 5 months then my money ran out because he was constantly behind on bills. Right now we’re living paycheck to paycheck because i pay everything and his pay simply covers food. I have no savings anymore, our vacation money is gone and our daughter was devastated learning that we weren’t going on vacation. It made me feel like a terrible mother.
So i decided im done taking care of him. He’s literally a stressful money-sink. When i try to bring it up like an adult, he gets pissed, he tells me im cold and heartless for bringing it up. But i just need to talk it out if its going to work. However, he’s decided to not talk and spends every minute playing video games, he doesn’t hang out with our daughter and i. I don’t think i really even know him anymore. It’s torture, he also expects intimacy, but i just can’t. Im so stressed about finances.
So im leaving him. I got a new job 10 hours away. He won’t be able to come along, he doesn’t have a car either. He always relies on my for rides…a 41 year old man without a car, a 41 yr old man w a corporate gf making a good living wage for myself for over two years now. But he just thinks it’s free money and spends it on games but won’t tell me.. i got paid 1700 last week, now i have 300 to get back to iowa. There is more to this story, so if anyone asks ill try to let yall learn more.. but yea. Im leaving!!!!!
Update 1: successfully dropped him off at work. All packed, got gas and about to hit the road

I played Green Day’s Dookie endlessly as a kid. Still holds up to this day in my humble opinion.
