To your last sentence it’s less about intelligence and more about other personality traits like your emotional response to things.
You can’t empirically prove it’s *wrong* to be vindictive, because that requires some a priori definition of objective human utility.
If you get immense pleasure out of vindictive behavior and everything else in life bores you, you could be a genius and still spend your time seeking to wrong those who wronged you.
Empirically it seems there is a slight negative correlation between IQ and antisocial behavior, so I’m not saying your last sentence is totally off base, but it’s only a slight correlation.

I try to set myself up with this all the time but instead of questioning it people just take it seriously and actually move faster or get sarcastic and go slower lol
At my old job, sometimes we would get calls coming through our phone system that were being forwarded to other people. There was always a code on the phone to show that it was a forwarded call, and we were not supposed to pick it up, we were supposed to let it ring and the person that it was forwarding to would pick up the phone.
One time I forgot about the code and picked up the phone, then saw the code and realized I was not supposed to pick up the phone. After a long silence, I panicked and said “I’m sorry I answered” and hung up.
When I was in the military and working in the battalion training office you’re required to say the full unit name, your full billet title, rank, name, and full office title so every time I answered the phone I had to say “Good morning/afternoon, 1st Battalion, 11th Marines S3, this is Battalion training NCO Sargent Smuckatelly, how may I help you Sir or Ma’m” .. so that shit took a while to learn and if you don’t get it right and it’s someone who’s important or a higher rank then you on the other end of the line then they’re gonna chew your ass out!
I wonder what the practical reason is, obviously you want to know who you’re talking to on the phone and their clearance and everything, but I’d assume in a Dr. Strangelove situation, time would be too valuable of a resource to waste
My own guess is what started out as a logical and practical reason, ended up being forcibly implemented like this cause someone somewhere did a stupid or was too lack about it; so now everyone has to do it the annoyingly long-winded way.
Seems pretty in-line with all the other rules that come off as excessive or dumb on the surface.
Maybe its also to control that the people that is receiving the call isnt a random but someone that is supposed to answer and knows the way to introduce themselves?
Gotta write that down on a piece of paper and have it by your phone. I only ever had to answer phones on Staff Duty but there was a paper over the phone with exactly what you needed to say and it was pretty much what you wrote
I think she was trying to be supportive? She wasn’t a great receptionist but she was always a great yes man to Michael. In Florida Dwight was her temp boss so she was following his lead blindly like a good little soldier. Don’t worry boss, some of us also have the nervous shits 😉
I heard a chef say recently that she's learned to never assume anything when giving people recipes, because she gave her Dad a recipe that said to 'reduce stock by half', and she found out her Dad was pouring half of the stock down the sink every time he cooked the recipe.
I have no trouble believing that people threw away disposable cameras, none whatsoever.
I've thought about this a lot. Too much, really. I think it's because that makes Andy tell her to set it down, so Robert California takes a drink without holding it, so he can't feel that it's cold until he drinks it. I've thought about this way too much.
Just re-watched with my wife. Only season 1 is worth it. It's a cute show in general, but it went way downhill after the first season. Part of it, I think, is that season 1 kept tight time requirements for the show because it was supposed to air on TV. Season 2-end had none of those requirements and episodes got longer.....and less funny.
I looooove Erin my fav character in the office.
Secretary’s day was a very fun episode.

Also in one of the later episodes when Andy loses his manager position to Nellie, and Erin asks Dwight for help and says “ I don’t know the technical term for it, penial … softiosis 🤣🤣”
Andy never worked as a romantic lead. It was fine for the Dwight-Angela triangle, because that was entirely for laughs, but once they tried to do earnest romance with him it was awful.
Yup! Nailed it, fans of Andy who like him as a character don't understand that just because you like a character doesn't mean they are right for everybody.
It makes my blood boil when I see the way he was treating Nellie and was like WHY WOULD ERIN ACCEPT THIS MAN.
I dont care about the stupid Nellie hostile takeover which was just ridiculous and insane and i couldnt suspend my disbelief that robert would let thay happen. So piss poorly written.
I have flaired my favorite Erin quote because it's so judgmental but also shows a depth to her character, since anyone in and around the paper/printing industry knows just how much color ink costs.
Erin running to bathroom to announce "You suck stanley" was my favourite. She seriously says ofcourse with a serious face and does this. It was damn funny!
When Andy is telling her about his old college buddy they called Blorville because he looks exactly like a black Orville Redenbacker and she just pauses for a moment and goes, "What was the name of that guy who invented the peanut?"
