People never like me and I don't understand why?

For a bit of context, I'm 30 F and my entire life I've always struggled with people just randomly disliking me? Sometimes for no reason as well. When I've asked them, they just say they don't like my vibe. I basically don't have any friends and now I'm in a place where I'm too anxious to meet people because I'm worried they won't like me.

I just don't really understand where I'm going wrong. I'm never horrible, I don't say anything mean to people. I try and show interest and ask them questions. Could it be due to me being a shy introverted person? Or perhaps my physical appearance just instantly makes people not like me?

I feel so lonely and get really upset because I so desperately want connections and friends.

Venting My sister has no friends

This is a really heavy post for me but I feel like I need to just ask for some advice or comfort. My sister (25F) has no friends and I really mean that. And it has gotten to the point where she has stopped trying and has even cried to me about it and it just breaks my heart to see her like that. For context , we both were in the same university but in different majors and during her bachelor's she was not able to connect with anyone. So she would sit alone, spend her break alone. Covid helped , as we moved back home but it's still a super bad experience to go through and that experience really left a mark on her. Then she took a year gap and got a job and it was a super new company so there were not many employees. After that she moved abroad for her masters, for the first week or two she tried a lot. She went to hangouts, meetups for international students , orientation but no success. I do wanna say that she is not super extroverted, she doesn't t really like to include herself or initiate things out of fear of it rejection. But she did try , and ofcourse when you feel a natural connection with someone , it naturally goes somewhere but that didn't happen. So she spent her one alone without any friends and moved back after a year as she could do her thesis remotely. She started a job while doing her thesis and she hasn't been able to make friends at work either. She cried to me , about how she's lonely and how looking at her old pictures wanna make her cry and that she doesn't like herself anymore. She even got feedback from her HR that people on the same floor as her don't know who she is.

I get that there's a pattern here and one could argue , my sister needs to work on her social skills etc. but idk why she hasn't been able to make friends when everyone has friends. Even she wonders why. She even told me that because of this she just ruminates and thinks what kind of a life even is this?

She also told me how on her birthday ,no one in the office knew and on your birthday , you can collect money but she didn't want to do that as it would highlight that it was her birthday that she was spending alone.

She can't do much in office in terms of socializing because there r separate teams an she's not super social , maybe that is something she could work on but it's really a nature thing. There r many introverted people with friends and she's not the type of person who'd just go and sit in a group and start talking.

I feel sad for her because her 20s are essentially going to waste. She just turned 26. At this age you're meeting your friends in cafes , celebrating birthdays , attending friends weddings while she hasn't had such experiences in 6 years. My heart truly breaks for her.

Stuff like this also ends up affecting your self esteem, you feel like you are not interesting one. People don't care enough to approach you etc.

I shouldn't have done this but I was on her laptop and I just looked through her chat gpt. And reading some stuff made me cry , for example she had written that if she prays ( we r Muslims) for friends on her birthday , could it happen. Stuff like should she go to a movie night to her office, even though she literally knows no one and I know she didn't go to any movie night , so thinking about that makes me even more sad. She also wrote " I wish I was good looking" " is it wrong to feel special".

There's so much I wanna say and maybe I can elaborate in the replies because this post is getting long. But what do I do. I want her to have friends , enough to feel somewhat content as I know life is never perfect. I don't want her to look back and feel depressed about her 20s.

I turned 19 today, doesn't like matter now who wished or who didn't. I've been ghosted by mostly all the males I talk to , i remember telling this guy about how we will see a movie together on my birthday but he didn't even bother to wish me.

Does anyone wanna watch a movie 🄲

Venting Feel alone at 30(f) with no car

CAD šŸ‡ØšŸ‡¦ 30 F

The loneliness hits me most when I am home alone. I do not have a car (I have my license) nor can I afford a car atm but I wish I did. I feel like I would be less lonely but I still don't have the funds to take myself out unless it's to local parks.

What do you guys do. I journal, read and do art and go to group therapy but I still feel so lonely and bored. What I do not want to do is engage in dating apps because I'm not interested in using men for companionship when I am bored or lonely.

I ended friendships because I do not enjoy clubbing, drinking and quit smoking weed which is what we only ever did.

I just feel alone and it sucks not having a car to take myself places. I go for walks but even still the loneliness eats at me daily.

0 friends and family... Btw I don't like gaming.

It doesn't matter how I feel, what I say or do. No one seems to give a shit.

Can someone reaffirm my existence, lol? This feels unreal to a point, but it's all I've ever known. What'd feel even weirder is some actual affection. And that's just sad... But it is what it is.

Hi There! Let’s Talk About Whatever!

I'm 42M and looking to chat with a few folks (aren't we all?). I'm pretty much open to everyone and anything -- but for an ice breaker, tell me about a time you cooked something and things got out of hand. Maybe you set fire to something in the kitchen. Maybe you wrecked some cookware. Maybe you made something that was accidentally inedible. We've all been there, at least I think we have.

Venting 33 and lost my friend group

I’m 33 f and I just recently lost my friend group. I was starting to feel incredibly lonely and not included in a lot of the groups activities, which turned out to be true they were inviting newer friends to do crafts and hangout and was told not to tell me. I didn’t understand why and vented my frustrations to two people that went and told them and then they actually officially kicked me out of the group. I feel sad and lost. They’ve been my friends for 3 years, I met them shortly after getting out of a severely isolating and abusive relationship where I moved to another state with this man before things ended and I settled here because I didn’t have an option or finances to head back to my home state. I’m not close with my family. With this I got off of instagram and Snapchat as well because my heart hurt seeing their updates. I don’t know what to do and feel so incredibly alone and I am not sure where I went wrong in the friendships. One of the girls said she thought everything was fine but I don’t understand that when they were actively not including me in group activities. I just feel lost and like I’m starting completely over and not having social media almost feels even more isolating now. Any advice would be helpful… to be fair I have felt a falling out with them or a shift in how I was being treated and included starting in February. Maybe I manifested this by feeling hurt but there was a shift.

Boring life

I'm 25 years old. I've only had one relationship. Because it was my first time experiencing genuine care and love from a girl, I became completely attached to her. For one and a half years, she meant everything to me.

I was always strongly against long-distance relationships, but I made an exception for her.

She was everything I had ever hoped to find in a woman. She came into my life at the perfect time, just when I had accepted that I probably wasn't lucky enough to be loved. She came unexpectedly. At first, she was just a good friend.

We used to chat and talk almost all day. The only time we weren't talking was when we were asleep. Some nights we'd stay awake until 3 a.m., and even then, when I woke up, there would already be a message from her saying, "Eneeto?" That one message could make my entire day.

But everything changed. She changed, and I couldn't.

Now she's gone.

Now I just go to a job I don't love, paying bills and trying to find a better one. I have no close friends and no one to talk to. Every day feels like the same loop.

My life was like this before I met her, but back then I had somehow found happiness in it. She changed everything. She showed me the kind of love and care I had been craving all my life.

Now I miss that. I miss her.

And sometimes I'm afraid that I'll be lonely for the rest of my life.

Nerdy, Honest, Funny, Cuddly, Lonely šŸ˜ž. Hey was in a relationship for 12 years and then she took my youngest (10) and now it’s just me and my oldest (13)son cause she wanted some old guy with money šŸ˜“. So I been on dating apps for a few months but my area SUCKS for apps cause it’s a smaller town. So trying my luck on here, I like music a lot helps with the ADHD and whatnot lol, gaming, movies, cats, gardening, cooking, trying to be more outdoorsy but don’t have like a camper or boat so options limited to backyard bonfires or walks basically atm lol. I’m trying to find someone who isn’t some narcissistic type like my ex was and is honest and open. You be you, be silly, be wierd, be whatever just don’t be fake. As for personality I’m kinda shy at first but then I become goofy and a chatterbox after awhile of feeling comfortable around someone. I drink here and there and 420 when offered but I don’t really goto bars and whatnot. I do have had a lot of backstabbing lately so hard to trust ppl lately sorry if I seem walled off or anything at first. So ummm yeah not really sure what else to write so just send me a DM on here or send me your snap or whatever u use and let’s get to know each other and see where it goes from there!

Venting My weight makes me so insecure

• Upvotes

To start this off, I’m not even overweight, I just look overweight. I’m 5’4 and like 124lbs (and I’m 20), but I still look overweight and it drives me crazy

I mostly wear baggy clothes because I hate my body, but baggy clothes make me look overweight (I also look bigger than I am without baggy clothes, but I hate my body more than that so I wear baggy clothes). I have so many clothes that I’ve bought that I don’t even wear because I hate my body, so instead I look like a meatball

And I even have a double chin somehow. When I look down I have a double chin, and I don’t even weigh that much. It’s made me always look at other ppls chins and I feel so envious of them

Venting I’m lonely let’s talk

READ TIL THE END PLEASE OR JUST SCROLL TO THE BOTTOM

I turned 19 this month and to put it simply I’m very lonely. I lack friends, a lover, and in general human interaction. I’m 19 now getting closer and closer to adulthood and every day that passes feels like another day wasted. It’s not as if I’ve never had friends before, but the people I was acquainted with never really got me and I never really got them. I would know these people for extended periods of time and nothing would change I never got closer to any of these people nor did I even want to. Overall, it feels like I got Dealt bad hand.

I was really never one to have ideations unaliving myself and that still remains true today I really do still believe existence is worth it even if it isn’t pleasurable. But Ive come to see how someone can be drawn to that point all this silence the lack of noise the lack of anything is draining. There’s days where I don’t even use my voice so just to keep my sense of reality in check. I yell every so often as loud as possible.

My main reason for posting this

I’m really unsure where to turn to all this time what I’ve been doing was just escaping whether it be into media, video games, one off interactions online, anything.

I’d like to find someone in a similar situation to me which granted this is the sub Reddit for being Lonely I’m sure it shouldn’t be too hard

If you are between the ages of 17 and 24 don’t be scared to interact I wouldn’t mind listening to your problems maybe even temporarily we could help each other not be lonely so hit me up.

I wish I had real friends

In recent years my friends that I have known for ages have stopped inviting me to things and when we hang out it's always just me inviting them. And even then they don't always respond.

It just feels like I'm just there because I can be in the friend group and not an essential group member. It leads to long periods of time where I don't see them yet I see that there hanging out with this person or this person yet they never land on me. I just wish I had a friend that would choose me to hang out with in there free time and just overall be there for me. It just hurt because I used to be included and I just get to watch it all slip away

I miss being a kid

I miss being a kid. It was so much easier to make friends back then. As an adult all these things affect whether people want you in their life. How much money you make, how prestigious your job is, how many connections you have, how attractive you are, how many dates you go on and how many sexual partners you had. Hobbies and skills only matter if you are incredibly good at them. None of this mattered as a kid. You didnt need to be impressive to deserve basic human connection. You were allowed to be bad at hobbies. Adulthood is just a rat race of trying to be better than everyone else.

Want to feel understood - esp as a mom

I feel like as I get older, I no longer have anyone who really understands me.

While in school, there are so many opportunities to find like-minded people.

At work, it's harder because there's not as many people to start with. And the age differences and life experiences are so vast, it's truly hard to have a real friend and conversations are just polite.

I've tried church, and it seems people already have cliques and there's too many hoops to jump through and requirements to go to all the outings.

Even my old friends, we all ended up moving away for jobs and life stages are different.

Then parenthood during the pandemic really put an end to any socializing that I had left.

It's fine to make small talks with strangers or have those once every 6 month friend meetups (since we don't live nearby to each other anymore). But it just feels really lonely. Everyone is busy. Everyone is dealing with their own problems and demanding jobs/life.

Idk what I'm trying to say, other than, it feels really lonely. So maybe it's a me problem. I just feel so disconnected. And it makes me sad.

I know this isn't forever, and maybe I'll have time to volunteer or join something when the kids are older. But the last few years have been really lonely. Very lonely. I guess I'm writing here to just say it to the universe. And maybe it'll help just to let it out.

If anyone else feels like this. I guess this is where we echo each other and somehow it feels less lonely. Sending positive energy out there. Anyone. Everyone.
