I turned 19 today, doesn't like matter now who wished or who didn't. I've been ghosted by mostly all the males I talk to , i remember telling this guy about how we will see a movie together on my birthday but he didn't even bother to wish me.

Does anyone wanna watch a movie 🥲

26 years old. I just wish I had a girlfriend.

26 years old. I just wish I had a girlfriend.

Hi everyone.

I'm a 26-year-old autistic guy, and I'm writing this here because I feel like this is one of the few places where people can truly understand the specific kind of isolation I'm facing.

I want to start by saying that I know I'm privileged in many ways. I have a family that absolutely adores me. They support me, take care of me, and I love them deeply. I never take their love for granted. But lately, I've realized a hard truth: family love is beautiful and fundamental, but it simply can't replace the warmth, intimacy, and companionship of romantic love. There's a specific void in my heart that family simply can't fill.

Whenever I try to express this desire for a romantic partner, people are always so quick to throw the same tiresome cliché at me: "You need to love yourself first," or "You need to learn to be alone and enjoy your own company."

Let me stop it here. I love myself. I'm incredibly independent. I don't sit in my room waiting for life to happen. I go out for walks. I go to concerts alone and let myself be carried away by the music. I go to the movies alone to watch films that interest me. I've learned to navigate this world alone, and I enjoy my own company.

But there comes a point where doing absolutely everything alone stops feeling like an empowering act of independence and starts to feel incredibly lonely. Loneliness begins to weigh a ton. Loving yourself doesn't magically erase the biological and emotional need for human connection.

Being autistic in a neurotypical world is exhausting. The mask, the misunderstandings, the sensory overload... it all comes at a cost. When I'm having a meltdown, a breakdown, or just facing severe burnout, my mind immediately wanders to how comfortable it would be to have a girlfriend. I think about how incredibly healing it would be to have her wrap her arms around me, giving me a deep, stabilizing hug that makes the overwhelming noise of the outside world finally quiet down.

I don't want a relationship for superficial reasons. I long for deep, quiet moments. I want to take peaceful walks with her where we don't even have to talk if we don't want to. I want us to write handwritten letters to each other, pouring our deepest thoughts, feelings, and special interests onto paper. I want to share new experiences, see new places, and navigate this chaotic life side-by-side with someone who sees me exactly as I am and chooses me anyway.

I'm posting this because I just needed a safe space to vent. Please, I'm asking gently: I don't need unsolicited criticism, harsh judgment, or "tough love" advice right now. I know who I am and I know my worth. I just wanted to be vulnerable for a moment and admit that loneliness hurts, and that I long for a safe haven in the form of a partner.

Thank you for reading.

Boring life

I'm 25 years old. I've only had one relationship. Because it was my first time experiencing genuine care and love from a girl, I became completely attached to her. For one and a half years, she meant everything to me.

I was always strongly against long-distance relationships, but I made an exception for her.

She was everything I had ever hoped to find in a woman. She came into my life at the perfect time, just when I had accepted that I probably wasn't lucky enough to be loved. She came unexpectedly. At first, she was just a good friend.

We used to chat and talk almost all day. The only time we weren't talking was when we were asleep. Some nights we'd stay awake until 3 a.m., and even then, when I woke up, there would already be a message from her saying, "Eneeto?" That one message could make my entire day.

But everything changed. She changed, and I couldn't.

Now she's gone.

Now I just go to a job I don't love, paying bills and trying to find a better one. I have no close friends and no one to talk to. Every day feels like the same loop.

My life was like this before I met her, but back then I had somehow found happiness in it. She changed everything. She showed me the kind of love and care I had been craving all my life.

Now I miss that. I miss her.

And sometimes I'm afraid that I'll be lonely for the rest of my life.

Venting 33 and lost my friend group

Upvotes

I’m 33 f and I just recently lost my friend group. I was starting to feel incredibly lonely and not included in a lot of the groups activities, which turned out to be true they were inviting newer friends to do crafts and hangout and was told not to tell me. I didn’t understand why and vented my frustrations to two people that went and told them and then they actually officially kicked me out of the group. I feel sad and lost. They’ve been my friends for 3 years, I met them shortly after getting out of a severely isolating and abusive relationship where I moved to another state with this man before things ended and I settled here because I didn’t have an option or finances to head back to my home state. I’m not close with my family. With this I got off of instagram and Snapchat as well because my heart hurt seeing their updates. I don’t know what to do and feel so incredibly alone and I am not sure where I went wrong in the friendships. One of the girls said she thought everything was fine but I don’t understand that when they were actively not including me in group activities. I just feel lost and like I’m starting completely over and not having social media almost feels even more isolating now. Any advice would be helpful… to be fair I have felt a falling out with them or a shift in how I was being treated and included starting in February. Maybe I manifested this by feeling hurt but there was a shift.

I feel like I'm invisible to the world

Upvotes

It doesn't matter how I feel, what I say or do. No one seems to give a shit.

Can someone reaffirm my existence, lol? This feels unreal to a point, but it's all I've ever known. What'd feel even weirder is some actual affection. And that's just sad... But it is what it is.

Anyone else genuinely never had a friend in their entire life?

I feel like this is incredibly rare and I’m one of the very few people who have lived a life like that.
I was always quite shy and extremely socially anxious especially after I hit puberty so I was always also be at school until I quit.
I feel like an alien.

Want to feel understood - esp as a mom

I feel like as I get older, I no longer have anyone who really understands me.

While in school, there are so many opportunities to find like-minded people.

At work, it's harder because there's not as many people to start with. And the age differences and life experiences are so vast, it's truly hard to have a real friend and conversations are just polite.

I've tried church, and it seems people already have cliques and there's too many hoops to jump through and requirements to go to all the outings.

Even my old friends, we all ended up moving away for jobs and life stages are different.

Then parenthood during the pandemic really put an end to any socializing that I had left.

It's fine to make small talks with strangers or have those once every 6 month friend meetups (since we don't live nearby to each other anymore). But it just feels really lonely. Everyone is busy. Everyone is dealing with their own problems and demanding jobs/life.

Idk what I'm trying to say, other than, it feels really lonely. So maybe it's a me problem. I just feel so disconnected. And it makes me sad.

I know this isn't forever, and maybe I'll have time to volunteer or join something when the kids are older. But the last few years have been really lonely. Very lonely. I guess I'm writing here to just say it to the universe. And maybe it'll help just to let it out.

If anyone else feels like this. I guess this is where we echo each other and somehow it feels less lonely. Sending positive energy out there. Anyone. Everyone.

Venting I have been feeling pretty isolated & depressed lately, I thought I would try putting myself out there a little

I have no real life friends, I am a bit introverted, and not great at forcing conversations, but I really value real, thoughtful people. I like talking about life, feelings, emotional & deep conversations, or just whatever is on someone’s mind.

No pressure at all, but if anyone wants to talk and build a genuine friendship slowly, we can talk, I have isolated myself for the past 3 years & it has made me extremely depressed, I still haven't given up just trying to make genuine connections.

Venting Why

Upvotes

Why is it the people who are in my life just don't care. If it's not about them it's nothing. I'm nothing. I'm worthless. It hurts so much and it's never going to be better.

Venting I don’t even know where to start with this, but here we go.

I’ve gone my whole life without knowing you.
Here I am, almost 27 with 30 around the corner.
It’s something I have been searching for since I was 17.
Beforehand I didn’t care much about relationships, I was just that kind of kid.
Others paired off in high school, but I never felt the need or the desire to love somebody if I wasn’t all in. Or if the true feeling wasn’t there.
This awoke in me when I had my first crush after moving to a new high school states away from my hometown.
It’s a feeling like no other, something I could not place or control. I was so shy, too shy that created the problem where I couldn’t even speak to the person I liked.
So, that feeling eventually, went no where.
My luck has been dry, and my love life has essentially been non existent ever since.
Have I had anything close to that crush? Nope. Absolutely nothing.
But that yearning hasn’t gone away, and I don’t think it ever will.

That need for love has been in my thoughts constantly since, and I have never experienced it.
It almost feels crazy to say and write. It is the deepest yearning to be romantically loved, and I have learned through many years to live with its absence.

I have trouble really grasping the reality of how long I have been chronically lonely. So much so, in the rare moments that reality isn’t there, it feels completely out of place, even alien.
I think, so this is what it feels like to exist without that heaviness in your chest. To not feel that constant tinge of sadness, or the subtle yearning that you feel through every day and every moment.

All my heart wants is to love, but that love has nowhere to go. It’s like a map without a destination, a constant wandering without direction.
Putting this into words is a difficult feat. Sometimes it comes across too juvenile or needy.
But the reality is I’ve exhausted this feeling to ad nauseam. Its constant presence doesn’t even phase me anymore, it’s just that sometimes its weight feels heavier than other times.
It feels wrong even writing this.

I’ve exhausted this feeling to its end, and of if I have to live with this for the rest of my life? I don’t know what the outcome will be.

But the things is, I’m not afraid of feeling this way until the day I die. What I really worry about are the repercussions of a life not shared.
I know I could survive as a celibate or a hermit, easily. I’ve lived with loneliness this long, I can live with it longer and even forever.

But is that what I want? No. Time is precious. Life, is precious. The way we spend those two things are sacred. And is there really a point to it all if you’re living a life that you don’t really want, but can’t find a way out of?

Yes, I could live with it forever. But I don’t want to.
I want to know what it’s like to have someone to love me. I want to feel love for another, the way other people love.
It’s like being an indoor plant that never feels the sun. It’s there, but out of reach.
I’m not where I belong, this I know. I’m living a strangers life. A rehearsed character that pretends, acts content but never really feels the complexity of emotions that her heart desires.

If I live through this life like this forever, I’ll know I lived without. And I’ll know my heart never received what it so desperately needed. I have an over grown tree trapped within the cage of my heart.
It reached for the sun that will never be there to touch its leaves. My heart is in darkness, and there it will stay for god knows how long.
I’m so tired. Tired of feeling this way, and not the way I truly want.
There’s so much I want to give and to feel and to love. But will that day ever come? Only the uncertainty of time will answer that question.
God, what the fuck do I do?

I just want to be treated like I matter to someone

I know people have their own lives and own problems but I hate that I’m there when you need me but never there when I need you. I desire your friendship and attention yet I’m just treated like an afterthought. I don’t ask you to care but I wish you would. My entire life even when I was a child I listened to everyone’s problems or I had to take the brunt of things I should have never had to hear. Now as an adult all I want is to be hugged and treated like you think about me just for a second. Like you care about me the same way I care about you but that’s never the case. I care so much about people even when they hurt me and I forgive even when they probably don’t deserve it. My mind hurts and some days even my body aches. It’s okay. I’m okay.

That’s what I tell myself. It’s not okay though. I’m not okay and it makes me realize I resent you but I don’t want to lose anyone else. Then you realize you’ve already lost said person and you are so desperate you don’t even realize it until it’s too late.

I miss being a kid

I miss being a kid. It was so much easier to make friends back then. As an adult all these things affect whether people want you in their life. How much money you make, how prestigious your job is, how many connections you have, how attractive you are, how many dates you go on and how many sexual partners you had. Hobbies and skills only matter if you are incredibly good at them. None of this mattered as a kid. You didnt need to be impressive to deserve basic human connection. You were allowed to be bad at hobbies. Adulthood is just a rat race of trying to be better than everyone else.

Venting I think i wasn't meant to be born

My parents shouldn't have had me. My father was cheating and humiliating my mom years before i was born. Idk if she thought having baby would help the relationship or if she was feeling alone and having a child would give her purpose or if it was just her dream and i'm overthinking that. But the truth is that: i shouldn't be here now

My father is not only horrible because if cheated her, he's also a murderer. He killed a man when i was about 7 years old and we had to hide from the police, we went with him because he was threatening us, but obeying him didn't make the threats stop. We moved to a different city, a small town and that was when things started to get worse. I used to love my dad as any other child, but he kept threatening us, he started beating my mom and humiliating us, speding our money with alcohol, he even killed one of our dogs. I lost counts on how many times i wake up in the middle of the night when i was a child with him drunk and screaming, destroying everything and threatening to put fire in the house with us inside. We were afraid to escape, we had nowhere to go and that was our life untill now. He killed another man this year and finally went to jail and we are finally "free" now, but i'm not free of my own mind

As you can imagine i ended up mentally messes up because all of that. A situation that, for some, would make a person stronger, left me weak. I think i was prone to be a weird guy even before all of that, since i was a kid, but it obviously helped a lot

I've become a complete loser. I'm the complete steryotype of a pathetic loser: addicted to pornography and doomscrolling, never been to college, never had a girlfriend, a total of zero friends, working from home in low paying job, dumb, talentless, plain boring, coward, i'm afraid of people and going out, lazy, stupid, i was an complete asshole to people i liked, awkward, weirdo, uninsteresting piece of shit, Imagine a total useless, worthless human trash, that's who i am, that's me.

I don't how to get out of this cycle, i just can't change, sometimes i get motivated and do some things, but that doesn't last for long, i always end up quitting. If i try studying i feel dumb and pathetic and that triggers a crisis where i feel like h1tting myself, if i try working out i feel stupid for trying something to improve myself, like i don't deserve it, like i never gonna make it, that my life will always be like this and that triggers my crisis too, i feel like destroying everything and cry untill i dry, but most of the time i try to just swallow this pain and keep it to myself and isolate myself, all the resentment, all the anger, all the hate, all the frustration, all the destroyed dreams, all the fear... i try to hide it in self deprecating jokes and fake laughs, in isolation, in my room, in my mind... but this is eating me alive, i'm nothing, i never lived, i just turned 23 and never lived, i don't have a story to tell, i'm empty

I tried post so many times trying to find help, but all i get are the same generic speeches, those cliche motivational phrases: "you should love yourself", "you should go to the gym", "it's gonna get better one day", "you should work on your self esteem"... that is, when they aren't trying to say that i'm in this situation because i like it lol, saying things like "you're giving excuses", "you decide what you gonna do in your life" like it's easy to change your mind when it were already programmed to be like that after years of abuse and fear. These people fake  I wanna change, but everytime my mind fights against me

I'm deperate, i can't change, but i want. I hate my life and i hate myself, i keep distracting myself as much as i can so i can run from all these bad thoughts, but it's getting harder. I wasn't supposed to be here now, idk if i don't do anything because i still have hope or if i'm just too coward to do what i need to do

Does this happen to anyone else?

You are lonely you yearn for companionship but you are no good at sharing or saying things openly, so you make a post on Reddit. People message you. Some connect with you, but a lot are carrying heartbreak, anxiety or depression and just need someone to dump it on. And because you are the kind of idiot who cares too much, you listen. You stay up late. You invest. You genuinely want them to be okay.

A few days later, they are better and they ghost you. They got what they needed. You became obsolete.

The only problem is they left lighter, and you quietly ended up carrying a little of their pain too.

Venting This level of loneliness is both crappy and a comfort

Despite wanting to, it's hard to connect to others when I'm going through an unfair and hurtful time in life. I've been lonely for awhile now, and people hardly try talking to me unless I'm at a social gathering, so when friendly strangers talk to me - a compliment, saying hello, introducing themselves and asking about me out of curiosity - I always think something like "Are they really talking to me? Odd. I'll just ignore it" or something. Then I figure they really were talking to me, not someone else, and feel bad about it.

This happened the other day. I was walking home and a man sitting out on his porch greeted me. I ignored it, part thinking he couldn't be talking to me because people mostly don't, part feeling if he really was talking to me, it would be too late to greet him back because I had spent too much time wondering if he was talking to me or not. He ended up saying hello again, and I said hey.

There's another strange thing. How removed from the world and pulled into my head I am despite how the outer world interacts with me. I guess I'm going through a lot more than I think. It just feels like the outside world doesn't matter as much, and if it does, it's only because it's somehow an inner problem. Because that's what happens when I want to help bring about a change to my external environment but don't know what to do. It just becomes stress that has nowhere to go: an inner problem.

I don't like how increasingly removed from the world I've been becoming, and yet I also like it. A bus splashed me the other day. I know had my situation been different, I would've cared a little more and had more shock. But it's good I didn't, it really was a small thing and things like that are part of life, but I can tell my reason why isn't great. I can feel it throughout my day, more notably when I'm outside, most obviously when interacting with people. I just don't care as much for what goes on around me. I just want what I'm trying to get. What I need.

When I look at people, I hardly see a human being. I know they're all strangers but something is new about them. Part human, part "new". And I lack manners, they're almost an afterthought now. More like an after care. The other day I was at the store and I kept getting in one of the workers' way. I felt bad and putting others first is slow to come to mind these days, and when it does, I usually feel uncomfortable with showing that I care for them at all. She ended up apologizing and moving out of my way as if she were at fault somehow.

Basically, with my stress, it's hard to relate and it's hard to care, and the more I don't push myself to feel at least a little something for someone else, the more removed from this world I get. But like I mentioned earlier, I also like it. I like being away from this world. I like being in my own, even though it's just the outer world with less beauty and kindness. It's just easier on me I guess. I don't have to process anything new. But at the same time I want connection. It's all so annoying. The lack of justice, the mistreatment, feeling alone and then also finding comfort in being wrapped up in my crap world to face on my own - and I mean that in the least empowering way.

I probably sound confused to you all. My thoughts are so jumbled up - there's so many of them. I wanted to get this out though.

Venting I feel lifeless, there’s no movement in my life

I’m 24, nearly 25. Still unemployed despite sending my resumes a ton of times.

I don’t exactly know how to let this out so I’m just gonna say things

I’m not sure how much a job would improve my life but at least that could give me a routine.

I want to experience romance. I’m a gay male, having difficulty with relationships. I want to know what it’s like to kiss someone, to love someone.

Being unemployed, it has its ups and downs but I can’t seem to see my future as of now. And time is unforgiving.

I don’t have any clubs joined, I only go for a jog and sometimes workout here at home. My friends are all working, some moved abroad. Most of the friends I have here aren’t exactly my go-to’s.

I don’t wanna be depressed, I wanna know what love feels like, being excited to see someone and many things. But I don’t wanna dive into that yet if I don’t have money of my own.

Are there people like me? I feel like I’m the only one, I feel lonely.
