The NO BS Guide on Winning Your Ex Back!

12.9k Upvotes

DON’T.

Your silence will eat them up. Move on with your life. Work on becoming the best version of yourself. Don’t let one person make you feel less than. There are plenty of people who desire your presence.

Let go or be dragged.

A reminder to think about what you’re posting.

Seeing a lot of increase in posts about How do I get them back?/Shall I respond? Or screenshots of communication asking for advice.

This isn’t a sub to not communicate to get back with an ex, posting success stories about getting back with an ex or celebrating they’ve come back is against the rules of the sub.

Plenty of other subs available for advice on trying to get someone back, this is not that.

Does karma really exist?

Upvotes

Will the person who hurt me ever truly realize what they lost? Will they ever miss the love, care, loyalty, and attention I gave them? Even just once, will they feel guilty for the pain they caused me?

I've always noticed something that confuses me. People who cheat, lie, or betray their partners often seem to move on quickly. They find loving partners again, people adore them, and they appear happy. Meanwhile, the ones who stayed loyal, gave everything, and genuinely loved often end up alone, struggling to heal.

Why does it seem like good people suffer while those who hurt others get a happy ending? Has anyone actually seen karma work, or is it just something we tell ourselves to feel better?

I'd really like to hear your honest experiences.

Motivation update: years later it has all been worth it.

it's crazy, 3 and a half years ago this sub helped me a lot when I was dumped by my ex totally out of the blue with no rationale or information, we spoke for a day or two after but then went full no contact, I've also been the same with every other major ex from my past.

anyway first thing I always do I start dating after a breakup, it's important to add a sense of motion to my life and move on, well it turned out to be the best decision as I recently got married to my wife who I met only about a month after thinking I had totally had my heart broken, my wife who is on a completely different level to those other women.

it's strange I dont miss any of the women from my past at all, but quite often wonder "wtf were they thinking", my wife and I basically have an amazing life with everything you would expect of a happy picturesque life it's almost reassuring that maybe my exes were the crazy ones afterall.

anyway if there's any advice I can give the healthiest thing I did was go complete no contact and resume dating ASAP, ex's are just that and it's scary how quickly they fade once you meet new people.

Help Ex came back after 2 months of no contact but I'm with someone new

After 1,5 years together my ex broke up with me because we've discussed moving in and he got freaked out by how serious things would be. I accepted it and went no contact. He wrote me a couple of long texts post break up about how it was a very hard decision, how he knows I'll find a great man, how our 1,5 years together were the best of his life etc. Both in our 30s, it was his first serious relationship and I was the first girl he introduced to his family.

6 weeks of no contact were very hard for me, cried non stop for the first month, then slowly accepted the reality. Joined dating apps at 6 weeks mark and luckily met someone amazing from a first date after the break up. We clicked and he felt like a male version of me. So much fun and adventures. After 2 weeks with the new guy (we had 6 dates in 2 weeks), I went on a weekend trip abroad with him and posted on social media... Ex texted me right after he saw it. Saying he wants to talk and work things out, but he noticed I'm seeing someone new. I told the ex that I don't want it, that he broke my heart and new man is healing me, I'm happy.

Now it's been 5 months after the break up and 3 months with the new man. Things are going very well. BUT the ex is still pursuing me!! Showed up at my apartment, saying he made the biggest mistake of his life, wants me to move in and get engaged by the end of the year. I didn't believe him at first but looks like he's seriously regretting the break up.

I'm very torn as 3 months with new bf is still new, I've developed feelings, he makes me feel safe and loved. But of course still have feelings for the ex and that life path seems clear, I'd move in, we get engaged and start a family. New bf also has serious intentions, we spend nearly every day together. Ex also has a better career, while new bf is younger than ex and not earning as much. Finances isn't everything but I'm trying to picture my life with both and I can see it being more stable with ex.

Part of me doesn't know if I could ever trust ex again to not leave me again. He's saying all the right things, how he knows I'm his future wife and we'll have an amazing life together and he realised how important I am etc. Ex also went on a few dates and said that noone compares.

I told new bf that my ex is trying to reconcile as wanted to be honest, he was concerned but I've reassured that it's over. But deep down I'm still torn and just dont know who to choose... Don't want to break new bf's heart and things are so aligned with us. Yet persistent ex makes me feel he's really fighting for me.

5 years next Tuesday ( edited)

Upvotes

Next week on Tuesday the 21st of July would be our 5 year anniversary and I’m taking it a little bit harder since it’s been awhile of 7-8 months of not talking to each other ( no contact) and we have been together for 4 1/2 years before splitting up. I’m genuinely missing him and what our connection was. Ngl I tried to contact him and there was no reply and I respected his wishes haven’t contacted him since. I just want him back and what we had together. It was my decision to break up but now I have to suffer with the consequences.

It’s a day after, once would be 5 years in our relationship and I still would like to reach out to him, but l can’t do anything else. My mom said if I wanted to, I should go in person but I thought it would be too much to show up to his work. I also been seeing that he is now looking at my account more often on tik tok. It started like 3-4 days ago. I don’t know what it means when he only looks at my story, does this mean he reciprocating the same feelings?

How do people move on so easily?

How can someone be so close to you for six years and then suddenly move on with someone else as if nothing ever happened?

Do they really forget everything? The conversations, the memories, the promises, the little moments that meant so much to me? Or do they remember and simply choose not to care?

I can't understand how someone who was once such a huge part of my life can act like I never existed. Even if everything between us was a lie, wouldn't there be at least one moment where they remember me?

How is it possible to move on so quickly? How do you erase someone from your heart in what feels like a single minute?

I'm not asking them to come back. I just want to understand... how is this even possible?

You must kill all hope

I know it’s been said before, but I really think an important part of moving on after I break up is killing all hope. I mean absolutely obliterate it. It’s extremely difficult to move on otherwise. You’ll leave that door slightly open only to be hurt again.

(This post is for myself. I’m finding it super difficult to move on from my first love.)

2 mo NC, moving out of state

Upvotes

Starting school in about 2 weeks. I always told my ex my fears of long distance to the point where I questioned if I even wanted to go. When he broke things off he said this is what’s best… he “loves me” and wants me to do great things. This was 2 months ago and we’ve been NC since.

Is he just a horrible person for not reaching out still? Or is he protecting me in a way?

Don't miss anyone

The hardest nights are the ones where you're tempted to go back to the person who broke your heart.

Don't.

Missing someone isn't a reason to return to the pain they caused. Healing is lonely sometimes, but it's still better than settling for someone who made you question your worth.

If tonight feels heavy and you just need someone to listen—my DMs are open. No judgment. Just a conversation.

Take care of yourself. One night at a time

Help I realised I 31F was the rebound days after the breakup

Its killing me inside.

he's back with his ex and its not even been 2 weeks.

I feel nauseous. I cant sleep. I'm replaying everything and realising it was all a lie. Meeting my parents. Intimacy. The words.

He 36M started pulling away about 6 weeks in- by then we had already met families, made it official.

I realise now that I was giving much more than he did- time, care, paying for dates, the emotional load... I hate that I didn't pick up on it earlier.

Struggling to not break no contact

Upvotes

Hello,

First of all, I’m a girl and the ex I’m talking about is also a girl. I’m bi, but she was my first same‑sex relationship. We were together for about eight months, and it ended earlier this year. The relationship had a lot of ups and downs — I think you could call it “toxic.” She had several childhood traumas: being regularly hit by one parent and abandoned by the other. I shared some of those traumas. But they shaped us into very different people. She was more in the realm of excessive fear of abandonment and rejection, full of insecurities, crying a lot whether she was happy, sad, stressed, anxious… and constantly needing affection. And I’m the opposite: more closed off, needing time to feel comfortable and open up to someone, physically or emotionally. Those two patterns were pretty incompatible. And I think the fact that she was my first relationship with a girl, and that she knew I was bi (she’s a lesbian), added to her fears and made the relationship feel unsafe for her. To give a few examples of the dynamic: once we were on vacation together, she was in the shower and I went out to the terrace to grab a bite. Suddenly she came running out, panicked and on the verge of tears, because she didn’t see me in the house and immediately assumed I had left. It felt surreal at the time, especially since we were far from our hometown, so it surprised me that she’d think that. Also, when we slept next to each other, if I turned around to sleep, she said it made her feel like I hated her. She also invalidated my bisexuality, saying that if someone asked about my sexuality and I answered “bi” while being with her, she would take it badly. She was jealous of friends I talked to or saw regularly, even though there was no ambiguity and she knew I was loyal and faithful. She was quite self‑centered, and when I needed support during difficult moments, she wasn’t able to be present because the only thing she noticed was that I wasn’t available to give her attention at that moment. So the conversation would revolve around that instead of the fact that I had problems and needed her support. There are many examples like this. And on my side, I don’t pretend I was perfect. I reacted impulsively a lot because I was often at my limit, especially when an argument could last three days and go in circles with no improvement… I often wanted to break up, which of course created even more insecurity in her. The peak of everything was a final argument where I reproached her for not supporting me. We couldn’t understand each other, it went in circles for days, we called, she raised her voice, which made me angry. I went home and threw away all her things that were at my place. That didn’t immediately mark the official end of the relationship because I apologized, bought her new things, and we tried to keep some semblance of a relationship for about a month. But clearly, after that she had switched, and it wasn’t possible to continue. We had a trip planned, and I refused to go under those conditions. I gave up and told her I didn’t want to go. She insisted vaguely, I refused, and after that last message, it was radio silence from both sides. So it was a breakup, but a quiet one. After that, I went back on a dating app (we had met on one), and of course I saw her profile.

The post‑breakup period wasn’t linear. I had moments of sadness where I thought about her a lot. Because obviously, there weren’t only bad moments. We liked each other, we had good times, she was often at my place so we were used to being together, we laughed a lot. And especially since I’m introverted and anxious, as I said, I take time to open up — so I felt like I had finally found someone with whom I could build a relationship, someone I loved. I never felt “in love” in the physical sense (the famous butterflies), but I felt a strong attachment and love, and we had said it to each other. So yes, it was hard. Then sometimes I felt relieved and thought it was much better this way. I also met a few other girls and guys on apps — nothing serious, but some pleasant flirts that showed me I could have other stories with other people I liked. But nothing serious, so eventually I deleted my profile.Meanwhile, I kept intermittently stalking her on Instagram. I blocked her and my account is private, so I make things easier for her. But she switches between private and public profiles for some reason. And I found a site that lets you see stories from public accounts without appearing in the viewer list — the perfect site for stalking stories and posts. Except I feel trapped. I know I can’t move on if I keep doing this, while she has probably moved on long ago. But I feel addicted — if I don’t check, I feel anxious, and it only calms down when I look. And since I use a third‑party site, it’s not like I can just say “I’ll block her and that’s it.” As long as her account is public, it’s accessible. Only my willpower can stop me from looking. And that’s really hard. The worst part is that I recently put my dating profile back online, and I didn’t see her there anymore… Then a few days ago I saw a story that made me think she might be seeing another girl. Nothing explicit, maybe I’m interpreting, but I had that feeling. And it hurt me so much — I cried all evening, because imagining her with someone else hurts. Especially when I haven’t found anyone else yet, and I wonder if I ever will. I start thinking maybe I’ll never find better and that I should have “settled” for that toxic relationship, where I felt bad sometimes but also sometimes good, desired and wanted.

For the past few months, I’ve been in therapy with a psychologist for my anxiety, focused on schemas (basically how childhood patterns explain some of our current traits), hoping to understand and change some of my toxic behaviors. But doing this therapy makes me realize even more how bad we were for each other: I reopened her wounds and she reopened mine. And at the same time, with time passing and therapy, I feel like I’d now be more equipped and have more perspective to understand some of her reactions and situations, and that maybe things would be different this time. Maybe I’m wrong, because if I’m the only one doing the work (she couldn’t afford therapy), it probably wouldn’t work anyway. So I don’t know what to do. I think about her, I can’t stop stalking her, but stalking her hurts me even more, especially if it’s to see her with someone else. Sometimes I want to contact her, but I’m 95% sure that if I did, either she wouldn’t reply at all, or she’d say something I don’t want to hear (like “I’ve moved on” or “I’m in a relationship”). And I’m not ready to face that. I don’t know if it’s my ego, loneliness, or real longing… Because I know I’m nostalgic and tend to idealize past situations — with time I only remember the good, even though in the moment there was mostly bad, especially toward the end. I feel like I’m going crazy, sometimes I feel oppressed, my heart races and I want to cry just thinking about it.

I'd appreciate any outside opinion on this situation — whether you think I should contact her or try to move on and stop stalking her. And especially if someone has had a similar experience.

Thank you for reading.

I had to go ‘no contact’

Upvotes

We were together for just over 2 years. His behaviour deteriorated pretty quickly into the relationship, but I was blinded by hopelessly romantic hope. I stood by him through thick and thin, even as I started to realise I was beginning to compromise my own morals.

When things became too disturbing and too frequent to ignore - about 9 months in - I started writing little notes about what was happening, just incase. After going ‘no contact’ I put the notes into a document and can see it totals 45+ pages. I’ve come to terms with the fact that I was being used and abused the whole time, but also feel deep shame within myself that I stayed for so long. And for the fact that I really might’ve stayed for the rest of my life if the following didn’t happen.

The last time we communicated he tried his usual games on me, over the phone. He had me in tears once again and I gave him a piece of my mind but still tried to play it cool, as usual, to give hope to a future that just simply cannot be. We were supposed to see each other that night, but I told him I didn’t want to after the shit he just pulled on the phone. We were supposed to see each other in two days from then also - I told him I’d think about it. In my mind I truly didn’t picture that to be the end.

The day after the phone call, my sister asked me about the situation. She knows bits and pieces of what’s been happening during the time of the relationship, but nothing to the full extent. Nevertheless she has been supportive and tried to encourage me to leave many times. But I just couldn’t. It was on this day that she went into my phone and blocked him on everything.

Blocking is a pretty huge thing for me and not something I typically engage in. It feels so major, so final, so impactive. The act of blocking then unblocking is something I simply don’t think I can do. I think it’s a pride thing. But, now he’s blocked.

Part of me feels a lot of fear and another part of me feels a lot of excitement. A new life! A walk into the unknown... Battling with feelings of freedom and enslavement all at once. Lots of ‘what if’s’ and ‘why couldn’ts’ running through my mind.

I feel lovesick. Withdrawals. Initially it was a physically ill feeling but now it’s more like a brain fog whilst wearing goggles. A desperation to have contact with him but inability to do so. Almost like a paralysation. The realisation that the phrase “if he wanted to, he would” is very real. The shattering of ego in even just having the thought that I couldn’t make the relationship or him better; that the fantasy really wasn’t reality. The toxicity.

I know that this is what needed to happen. I just never thought it would. I am so thankful for my support system. I had to go ‘no contact’.

Help I can't move on from being publicly humiliated

Upvotes

I (23F) have been carrying something for almost two years, and I honestly don't know how to move on from it.

When I started dating my ex-boyfriend, his ex-girlfriend became hostile towards me. The difficult part was that all of us came from the same school, so there were mutual connections and overlapping social circles.

What started as drama between people directly involved quickly became something much bigger. She involved some of her college friends, people who had never met me and knew nothing about me personally. Despite that, they started posting insulting Instagram stories about me, mocking me, making assumptions about my character, and humiliating me publicly.

One of the accusations being spread was that I had "stolen" someone's boyfriend, even though the reality of the situation was much more complicated than the version being told about me. It felt like people had already decided who the villain was without ever hearing my side.

What hurt wasn't just the stories themselves. It was seeing complete strangers participate in humiliating me online as if I was some kind of joke. I remember feeling shocked that people who didn't even know me could be so cruel.

Because we all came from the same school background, I constantly worried about who had seen the stories, who believed them, and what people were saying about me behind my back. I felt embarrassed, anxious, angry, and powerless.

At the time I tried to stay strong and move on. I told myself that people would eventually forget about it. But emotionally, I don't think I ever fully recovered.

The relationship itself is over now. I'm not sitting here wishing for my ex back. What I still struggle with is the humiliation, the betrayal, and the damage it did to my trust in people.

Even now, almost two years later, I sometimes replay everything in my head. Recently I had a dream where one of the people involved apologized to me. When I woke up, I realized that a part of me is still waiting for acknowledgment that what happened was wrong.

I don't have many close friends I can talk to about this, which is probably why I've carried it alone for so long.

Has anyone else experienced online harassment, public humiliation, false rumors, or being targeted by a group of people? How did you heal from it? How did you stop caring about what people thought of you?

I'd really appreciate hearing from people who understand.

Help She told me she's probably going to regret breaking up during our closure talk

7y, 30m 30f, blindsided out of the blue because she lost feelings, left suddenly out of our home and spent one month without contact immediately.

I asked for a closure talk after a hellish month of anxiety and therapy. She asked for two more weeks to "process it", even after she initiated the breakup. Went to get my answers from her. She came shaky, crying, hugging me, holding hands. Told me she had realized she lost feelings and slowly detached because she didn't know what she wanted in life. She asked for the whole 2025 for me to ask her in marriage. I made a ring and asked her in October, she said yes. Immediately she started to panic and get anxiety and kept it inside, not even talking to her friends. She never brought it up or communicated, just kept going for six months till she popped and had to leave suddenly. I asked if after a month and a half she had a inkling at what she actually wanted in life. She said she didn't have any idea.

When we were leaving after four hours of conversation, she told me that she's probably going to regret doing this in the future. It's baffling, honestly. She's impulsive and insecure af but I never thought she would discard our life together like this. I told her that our relationship was real good. That if she realized it, she could call me and we could talk.

Three weeks have passed and I'm thinking of reaching out one time, to tell her that I still see a possible future but she has to work for it and want to go to therapy to work on her insecurities. I'm in a better place 2.5 months after BU and I know that I'll be happy either alone or with her. But I'd like to repair our relationship, and live together, if possible. This isn't done in desperation or begging. I know it's a fool's errand but after talking to my therapist, she told me that she actually encourages me to give it a go, for my own peace of mind, knowing I did all I could to still save our relationship. But I don't know what to do.

it's suddenly all coming back and it's been years

Upvotes

my ex and i dated for two years. it was a long distance relationship that happened from when i was in late high school to after graduation. we experienced covid together and spent forever and ever on the phone constantly. video calls, play video games, all of it. i think i spent more time talking to him than i did anyone else.

i broke up with him after he ended up getting feelings for his coworker and crossing a few boundaries that we both had agreed upon. there were many times throughout the relationship that he crossed a boundary (mutual boundaries we both had for one another), cheated, put other things before my emotions, but he always felt so remorseful, so i really did think he wanted me as much as he told me. it was really upsetting because i had planned to finally meet him for the first time, saving up money, planning it out with my family. i was so happy. i was finally going to see him and we could actually start a life together. but when i broke up with him, it seemed like he wanted someone he could reach out and touch, and that definitely hurt. i understood, but i wasn't going to sit around and wait for him to sleep with this girl and end up breaking my heart that way. within the past few years, he has reached out on and off, saying how much he misses me. he is with the woman he met that led to us breaking up. from my knowledge, they still are to this day.

every time he would reach out, it would last for a few days, maybe a week. i would have hope that he would leave her and be with me (selfish and strange i know) simply from the way he spoke to me about how much he missed me. he still wanted me to be in his life, he wanted to get on a plane to meet me, he wanted to finally see me, he said if i came to him years down the line and asked him to leave, he would have to think about it genuinely. he would say he wished he could touch me, to feel me and finally have me in his arms. every time he came back to talk (which was ultimately because i didn't have him blocked, i take responsibility for that), i had a lot of hope. then he would bring up his girlfriend. i told him i didn't want contact if he was with her. cycle repeats.

except for this past year. i told him outright that i wouldn't ever let him reach out, i didn't want him contacting me, etc. it was hard, because on one hand, he was my best friend for two years straight. i spoke to him day and night. when we would break "no contact," we went right back to talking like nothing had changed. he's funny and he makes me laugh. he's talented. but i knew that for both of us, we just should forget each other.

this past month has been extremely strange and hard. i don't know why but i suddenly have had the urged to check his socials, keep up with him. it feels easy because i can just go unblock him and i know his accounts already. i wish i didn't know any of his socials, but he is within reach so easily. one button away. i don't reach out, i don't view his things with my real account, just some side accounts that i've had that are new and he never interacted with. i miss him deeply, and i don't know what started it.

it came out of nowhere. i'm really not sure what to do about it. i've just gotten so sad. i wonder if he thinks about me, and in some ways i hope he doesn't because i want him to have an amazing life with whoever he chooses, and i would hope he would want the same for me. i wish i never met him. i also wish we could be in each other's lives, but that can't happen.

part of me feels like this because now in my 20s, i still haven't really dated or been with anyone. there is a big joke around gen z who have graduated during covid being stumped in development and i feel like that is true for me. i'm just not outgoing, i don't have time, and i feel like anytime someone flirts with me, it feels purely sexual and not because they want *me*. i've talked to people in a romantic way but it just doesn't feel fulfilling. i guess i'm looking for some advice. how do i deal with this?

Does it mean something that he unblocked me or im just stuck?

He unblocked me on ig after a month and only texted me "you are not blocked anymore". I found it really disrespectful so i left him on seen, I didnt want it to affect me in any way, but it did.. Do you think there might be a reason behind it or just a game? In our last conversation he told me that he will block me because its better to never speak again and reach out to each other. And he never blocked me before or me blocking him. We went no contact a few times but never blocking. Im asking all of this even tho i know everything he did was such low effort i shouldnt even think about it, but im still healing. And sadly this got me back into a spiral. And tbh if he really wanted to apologize for his actions i think he would've done it by now, but its been 3 days since his text and he didnt follow up with another explanation. I also think that he expected me to chase him or to say something because i always used to overexplain and truly try to communicate with him..He is also in his late 20s, Im in my early 20s so its surprising to me that he did all of that since he always tried to act more mature than me. I really would've appreciated it more if he just left me alone. And im just so mad at myself that im wasting time thinking if he will ever take accountability for his actions when i should just move on, because even if he did all of this, i dont want to go back to that...i just wanted a decent ending. A clean conversation

Vent Me and my ex living together

Upvotes

My ex broke up with me during summer vacation because he wants to be young and free, however we’re living in the same house along with three of our friends next year. I haven’t spoken to him since we broke up two months ago, should I meet up with him and have a chat when I’m in London? (We live in different countries) sometimes I feel as if I shouldn’t take life too seriously and I should just meet up with him and maybe have seggs with him cuz I get horny, but I also should have self respect and take life a bit more seriously sometimes and know that I need to act cold and distant towards him. Idk

Should I buy a birthday for my ex?

Should I buy a gift for my ex?

Hi all (21 M). I broke up with my ex last month and it's his birthday next week. I was wondering if I should buy him something for his birthday. He bought me a gift on my birthday and he sacrificed his last money to buy me a gift. He was the only person who bought me a gift and that made my 21st birthday feel special. I still love him but my intention is not to get him back. Should I do it?

What would be the best way for me 26M to reach out to my ex 27F and “squash the beef”?

Upvotes

My ex and I have a complicated relationship post breakup to say the least. She has remained in contact with my family since our breakup and my mother and sister seemed to never see the problem with it. I never liked it, I saw it as rude and hurtful towards my current relationship. During Christmas’22 I messaged my mom and told her that I wasn’t comfortable with my ex being allowed to participate in Christmas festivities with our family, saying that my current partner 25F also felt the same.

The messaged I received from my mother boiled down to her “seeing “ex” as a daughter not an ex partner”. I grew too frustrated with her and went semi no contact with her only talking to her when it concerned my niece. Since then I’ve also held a sense of contempt towards my ex seeing how she was still inserting herself even though she was married and had her own family to have festivities with.

But since then I’ve done a lot of thinking and I’ve also had scary moments in my life that I’ve sat down and rethought my feelings towards her. My ex has extended an olive branch which to me, feels more than what I’ve deserved. This past May she invited my partner and I to her child’s 1st birthday. We couldn’t make it, we both took off the month prior for something else and couldn’t take off again so quickly. That gesture is why I’m ultimately here. Since then I’ve thought about that and I’ve asked myself “If she can do that why can’t I apologize for my actions and maybe pour water over this burning bridge”?

I’ve talked to my partner about it and she said “As long as I think it’s what I want she’ll support it and approve it”. I know that she’ll never leave my life, and I can’t avoid my mother talking about her to us either.

What would be the best way to go about this? I have an idea of what I want to say but I’m unsure how to communicate it to her. Can anyone give advice?

Help I’m just more upset He used me

Upvotes

About ago, my ex called me saying he couldn’t live with his mom anymore. I currently live with my mom, even though we both have degrees in and are in our 30s. I let him move with me to a different state, and that was a mistake. He is a raging alcoholic. He was mean to me, he hurt me, he raped me, and I still let him stay. He ended up destroying the area of my house that I let him live in.

And now he is seeing someone else that he worked with even though we just broke up three weeks ago. His newest Instagram post, is a direct shot at me. I’m trying to not look at them and I’ve been doing pretty good until today when somebody asked me about him. I’m not mad that he’s seeing someone else, what I am mad about is all the times I let him use me. I don’t know how to get over that. I tried to help someone that I thought I loved. Am I just a loser?

Broke no contact and saw him

Upvotes

I (29F) reached out to my ex who broke things off (29M) after 9 months of no contact.

I texted my ex one night and surprisingly he responded right away. We continued texting for a few days, mainly just giving each other life updates, and I suggested hanging out or getting coffee. He agreed to hanging out and suggested that night so we met up and had a great time. It honestly felt like we were never apart for those 9 months.

The confusing part is that after hanging out he didn’t text me afterwards, so I sent a text 6 days later saying that I had I fun time and would like to do it again sometime. He responded agreeing that it was nice to see me, but said “let’s keep in touch” rather than suggesting another date.

I haven’t heard from him since then and this last text exchange happened about a month ago.

What should I do? Let it be or reach out one more time?

P.S. we didn’t talk about the relationship or breakup at all. I didn’t want to bring it up to avoid making things awkward, and he’s pretty avoidant so he doesn’t usually talk about feelings openly.
