Any UK guards using airsoft for training? Worth it or just cringe?
So I was on a night shift at a small business park last week, chatting with my relief about drills, and he mentioned his old site used airsoft rifles for room-clearing practice and communication drills. Got me thinking about stepping up my own training a bit, especially for those dead quiet nights.
I’ve been looking at kit online and keep seeing airsoft stuff pop up, including wholesale sites like https://www.iwholesales.co.uk/ and a bunch of others. I’m not trying to LARP SWAT, just want something realistic enough for practice on days off without firing real steel. Maybe I’m overthinking this, but I don’t wanna blow cash on toys that don’t actually help.
Anyone here in the UK (or anywhere really) using airsoft for scenario training, weapon handling, or team comms? Does it actually transfer to the job, or is it just fun plinking in the garden? Any brands or types to avoid, and what would you recommend for a first setup that’s not going to fall apart after a couple of drills?
