New gun owner here. I was looking for a good EDC pistol, and was recommended a Glock. I saw this custom Glock, really liked it, and ended up being talked into buying it.
After doing more research, I’m not sure I like the idea of having a Timney competition trigger and a ported barrel on an EDC gun. That said, I’m still excited to get out and shoot it soon.
Let’s just say I paid a lot more than I ever expected to for a Glock. 😅 My next high-end purchase will probably be a Wilson Combat, since I’ve always loved 1911s.
Anyway, here’s the build list:
Front sight: Ameriglo H3 ZR
Optic: Holosun SCS MOS (Green)
Rear sight mounted in front of the optic (forward-rear-sight configuration)
Ported barrel with matching slide cuts
Timney Alpha Competition trigger
Custom slide milling and serrations

I just found out about the Glock 47 being the 45 size lower with the shortened barrel dust cover to accommodate a 19 size slide. I can’t find a Gen 6 with the full length dust cover. Is this not technically just a 47? Are they getting rid of the “traditional” sized 17 for the versatility to be able to put a 19 length slide to the same frame?

My 19.6 with a few extras. I may have gone a little overboard but it runs like a dream.

I like it and it’s fun to shoot. That is all. FCD plate and Dawson .390 front .395 rear.

Hey so for context, I liked the 507 Comp a lot. Lotta features, sight window is massive. Ran a 507KX2 GR on my old 43X for years, but, I wanted to wait to see which aftermarket ACRO plate for the Gen 6 models would be best. Went with Calculated Kinetics, and also snagged the OD Green 250th anniversary ACRO (somehow at my LGS). Looks good, and my dog likes it. That’s what’s most important anyway 🩶

I’m almost ready to sell everything else at this point & keep this & a rifle.

Anyone have experience using this trigger in their Glock Gen 5, 17, 19, or 34?

Does the trigger itself stay back when dry firing like on the stock trigger?

Is the trigger pull mushy with almost minimal almost imperceptible wall?

Does the reset feel mushy?

Was at the range the weekend and did about a 100 each in both the G17 & G19X Gen 6.

Note that this was the very first time I shot with Glock and color me IMPRESSED.

I am currently on the search for an EDC and well also my first pistol.

But here's the problem - which one? Here's how I felt about these bad boys.

G17 - Felt really good in my hands, no slipping or readjustment needed while shooting. With this it didn't feel jumpy and the recoil was very easy to control in contrast to like a Hellcat. I also had the shop fit me with a holster to see how comfortable it is - very much so.

G19X - Basically the same as the G17, but it felt SLIGHTLY more jumpy. I don't know if I was just imagining it but I swear I noticed a difference. Also had a holster fitted, also SLIGHTLY more comfortable - but it could also have been because of a different holster brand (I don't remember any of the brands).

So I wanted to find out from you guys, what are your experiences with these two?

Like I said - love both, I just can't decide. I am going again this weekend to shoot with the same two.

Found a reasonably priced frame, added spares, and created this masterpiece for $125 all in.

It was listed as a used police trade in but it was basically new in the box.

My local store has a Glock 43X MOS for sale that comes with two OEM 15 round mags. They said they got them in a month and a half ago. Has anyone stress tested these or know how reliable they are? I am so close to pulling the trigger on trading in my Shield Plus for it but I wanted to make sure.

Thoughts?

I didn’t know this until I started digging into Glock history, but the original Glocks only had 2 pins in the frame. Glock later added a third pin after the .40 S&W models started putting more stress on the frame during recoil. Eventually they started using the 3-pin setup on a lot of 9mm Gen 3s too, mostly to keep production consistent.
If you’ve got a Gen 3 Glock 19, take a look—you might have a 2-pin or 3-pin frame, depending on when yours was made.
Did anyone else already know this, or was it new to you?
