Rules Update - Sales, Exchanges, and 3D Printing Files

The Reddit User Agreement and Reddit Rules have changed, including details related to Illegal or Prohibited Transactions.

As a result, some of the activities we have previously enjoyed must cease immediately.

From Reddit:

Users are not allowed to buy, sell, gift, or encourage the transaction of the following goods or services with other Redditors, whether implicitly or explicitly:

  • Firearms, ammunition, explosives, firearms parts and enhancements (e.g., bolt, clips, trigger, scope, silencer/suppressor, muffler, bump stock, magazine, Glock switch, conversion kit, etc.), or specific instructions (i.e., 3D printing files) to produce any of the aforementioned.

To simplify this:

  • No sales or exchanges of anything gun-related
  • No sharing or linking of 3D printing files for anything gun-related

All Reddit users have a responsibility to understand and adhere to the rules.  Ignorance of the rules is not a valid defense.

This is a zero-tolerance policy.

Advice or product suggestions

Hi everyone, I have a walnut stock, bull barrel 10/22. I love the classic look of a wood stock rifle. But, I’d like the ability to use my clip on thermal. The obvious choice is a chassis with a full length rail, but I want to avoid this route so I can keep the walnut stock. Does anyone know of product that would allow me to have an extended picatinny rail long enough to mount an RH25 v2 in front of my daytime scope? I’ve tried searching for a receiver mounted rail that would “float” over the barrel similar to a scout rifle rail or even a “diving board” on a unity riser. But I’m not having any luck. I found a product (see attached photo) that would’ve worked but it appears to have been discontinued years ago.

Any suggestions?

Thank you!

Really fun to shoot! Just scrolling to look for a takedown model and found this in stock brand new in box for $400 after taxes. Comes with a BX trigger too! Just need the auto bolt release and Sb tactical stuff

Cleaned the bolt before shooting and it was more difficult than it looks. Scratched the receiver during the struggle.

Too hot!

I've been wanting to go out and finish my build with the carbon fiber barrel from the GrabAGun sale.

But it's been HOT. It's 103° out and feels like 116°.

Send me cool thought!

And holy smokes what a great gun it is! I zeroed at 50 and was shooting great at 100 with cci 1050 subs. Was easily keeping its own with my Kidd barreled gun.

I want to say this isn’t about me having great groups and fishing for compliments. I just am feeling good about my progress because a few weeks ago I was never able to keep all of my shots inside the target. I’ve been really focusing on being more consistent with everything. These are 10 round groups at 50 yards. Using CCI minimag

Bought a used 10/22 ruger..

So I was looking at a few guns this past weekend and ended up buying a mossberg 500 12gauge field/security combo and a used 10/22 Ruger. After doing the paperwork I realized I spent more time holding the shotgun than the .22 since I was getting rushed by my fiancé to get to a birthday party. After the party I stayed up looking up things to look for on a used rifle. I think I scared myself that I bought a lemon since I am very new to guns (bought my first gun in May [Springfield XDM 9mm]) after some more in depth research.

The ruger appeared to be in great condition, I didn’t see anything that immediately raised flags, but the pull on the slide did get stuck and one of the workers took it to the back for a few minutes before he came back and claimed nothing was wrong with it and it just had a little trick to it. Something about holding the slide back 1/4 of the way while simultaneously pushing up on a little metal piece near the trigger guard or magazine receiver. Meanwhile I’m trying to ignore my phone which my lady is blowing up because we’re running late and it was my only time I had this week to make this purchase. I took another look at it and I’m hindsight didn’t even try to pull the slide back again after that. Now I think maybe it was a good thing because I usually dry fire and just learned that rimfire isn’t supposed to be dry fired.

Another thing I noticed is that the barrel was touching the wood on the right side of the stock and trying to use my eye alone I was unable to say for sure but I thought it looked like the barrel was slightly bent toward the right. I’m not sure if it was the lighting causing an optical illusion or maybe I was tricking myself to believe something is wrong since I was looking for something wrong with it due to being used.

I am wondering if these things are something I am able to 100% rule out when I go back after the 10 day waiting period and make sure are not faults in the rifle. I also saw that a bore scope is a thing and wonder if it’s appropriate to ask the workers to borrow one to look inside since I found out that’s a thing. Also how would I make sure the barrel isn’t actually bent? I’m thinking of bringing a level but idk. I’m definitely a noob at this. I also saw people here saying Ruger will fix anything on their guns as they have amazing customer service. But I feel a bent barrel would be out of the question? Any advice is welcome.

Thanks for reading.

First 10/22

Firearm owner for nearly two decades, somehow have never owned one of these. Found it used at my LGS and someone had clearly put some love and well thought out parts into. Based on the serial it appears to have started life as a 10/22 Compact, shipped in 2020.

TacSol X-Ring Barrel
Timney Trigger (appears to be the standard model after field stripping earlier)
Kidd Charging Handle and spring
Magpul Hunter X-22 stock
Magpul bipod

Came with 7 mags, all OEM (25rd X 4, 15rd X 1, 10rd X 2)

Out the door at $650. I think I did pretty well but curious of feedback. Thank you in advance to the council for their insight and sage advice on the platform 👊🏼

Is there any data on the average precision/moa of available rounds?

Just out of curiosity, is there any metadata on the average precision/moa of most of the available rounds out there? I know some/much of it comes down to the specific rifle but there are accepted bullet geometry variances during the manufacturing process, and im curious if anyone has done any larger scale tests to see how that plays out irl. Im finding a lot of moa shifts between different manufacturers.

The pockets been hurting lately from the SK and Eley, so I grabbed a couple bricks of federal auto match. Performs as well as CCI SV in my kidd barrel. Dare I say a tad better.

50yrds bench.

X22s. Green is the backpacker x22 on a takedown and the grey is a full size from my old wood stock. The x22 stocks make for a nice upgrade.

Finally grouped my 10/22 from the Bass Pro deal from a month ago. 10 round group prone from 50 yards using CCI Sub-sonic small game. Paired with a Mask HD its stupid quiet. This thing is pretty sweet bone stock. I'll probably change the scope mount to rings that are lower as it sits a little too high. The scope is a Vortex Venom 3-15x.

The weird little EOTech 3-9 scope works surprisingly well on my Charger.

Should I go with a redot or a scope?

Whats a good way to mount a sling?

It didn't come with a thread protector do i need to get one? I plan to get a can eventually but would it be a concern to not have one im the mean time?
