I love my Aquarium.
Plants are probably the most expensive thing though, my success rate it pretty low. Although my Amazon sword is having babies.

Discussion Things you wish you knew when upgrading to a bigger tank.
I'd love to get thoughts about your first time upgrading tanks. 😊
We currently have a 6G for our betta and shrimps.
The shrimps aren't becoming snacks as Sushi is mostly chill (lucky us) and the tank is heavily planted. The shrimps have also started having shrimplets. 🙌
We are saving and planning to get him a 10G as it feels like 6G is small for him to swim around.
What should we be looking out for and anything we should consider trying for another low tech tank?
Also just want to say that this sub has been lovely IME. TY for everyone!
Bonus photo of a scrimp having an underwater Mulan moment. lol.
TYIA!~

Question Is my tank fish ready???
Jokes aside, running a pH of about 6.8 and only plants and pest snails in the tank rn, think the plants would benefit from a water change? I'm using a no filter setup and have tons of fast growers that just got set up, just want to see what the consensus is on water changes for plants only tanks

Tank 60P scape
Showcasing my new farm tank, not a traditional Dutch.
I used to not like posing online but feel like this tank is starting to look gorgeous so want to put it out.

Chihiro WRGB II 60
Daily dose APT 3

This tank is a little bit past 3 weeks which feel in really quickly. Half pallet I got from trimmings half were emsered grow and I replant the top

Beginner My first attempt at a planted tank!
I have octopus grass, pointy swords, hygrophila salicifolia, and hornwart paired with river rocks from and driftwood. I'm very pleased with the results and can't wait to add fish!

Fertilizer recommendations for low tech tank
This is my first plant tank five weeks old and some of the plants are yellow and translucent .Is it because of my sand cap being too deep or do I need some liquid fertilizers?

Discussion Here’s an answer for what to do with extra floaters.
I feel like this question gets asked often, and some suggestions are to give them away, sell them or trade at your LFS.
I do all of those things but with 11 tanks I still generate a ton of excess floaters and sometimes they also look gnarly and aren’t suitable for those purposes.
So I keep European Nightcrawlers in a very simple setup inside my apartment. It’s a small 3 bin 15 gallon tote setup and It does not smell at all. 90% of their diet is used coffee grounds and floating plants.
I get amazing castings that I use for my indoor plants (pic 2) and make teas from (pic 4) and in collecting this small amount (9.5 ounces) I also get a ton of baby earthworms (pic 3) which are perfect food for a few of my fish.
It’s an excellent way to generate 0 waste, get some wonderful soil amendments, make a beneficial bacterial soup for inoculating charcoal to make biochar and feed live.
AMA if you’re interested in setting up your own bin!

Beginner Not sure what this (the grayish spots) is
So... this is my first tank, it's day 11 since it's been planted and it's still cycling. Can someone help me identify this black/grayish growth on my driftwood? Every day it looks like it's appearing in new areas, is it blackbeard, detritus from a few of my plants having died or normal, beneficial fungal growth or something else?

It may not be as clean as many of yours but I love the messy natural look.

Question why is my cyperus helferii not doing great?
i got her like 3 months ago and she’s getting weaker and weaker everyday. you can even see where she used to be before on the last picture. i use the iron root tabs from jbl and ferropol also from jbl as liquid fertilizer. she used to be so full when i bought her ðŸ˜

4ft low boy AquaOne OptiClear 120
Bought this the other day for a setup which will be viewed from both sides (in a wall cavity).
Question is…. What is a decent option for filters other than a canister filter? Im thinking one hang on the back (something like a fluval AC) on one end won’t provide enough flow. I have a Fluval AC50 on another planted tank and it’s been great tbh.
Would 2 HOB Fluval’s (one on each end) be decent enough?
Any recommendations is greatly appreciated.
