Recently got a batch of shrimp and while acclimating noticed this fella. Not sure if it’s a baby shrimp, scud or something else?

I spent 1h and 30m grading them, then I gave up on trying to get them all.

(Neocaridina) For context, I did a fairly big water change about 3 days ago (about 30%) but no other shrimps look to be affected. My GH was about 8.5 and after the water change it was 7.5. My KH was 5 and it is now 4. No ammonia or nitrite and nitrates are 5. Ph is 7.4. The TDS is 300. This shrimp always looked a little pale and I figured it was its genetics but today it looked much paler and it wasn’t moving around much and my Amano shrimps were picking at it. I didn’t want my shrimps to eat it if it had a disease so I took it out of the tank. Is it infected with like milk/porcelain disease? Is it just old? Or could it be from the water change? If it does have a disease what do I do?

Hey all, I posted a few days ago asking about solutions for feeding shrimp with greedy tetras.

I had two glass Petri/feeding dishes large and small, i chopped a prefilter sponge to about 12-15mm long and cut it so it was open on one side.

I sandwiched the sponge between the two feeding dishes leaving an a U bend big enough for shrimp to swim under and over to get to their food but too small for the fish to swim into.

The tetras tried for about 20 minutes, i was concerned they'd get stuck but they'd either accelerate around the rim until the shot themselves out or stop swimming and the current would push them out backwards from under the dish.

Just thought I'd share this for anyone else dealing with feeding their shrimp in a contested environment.

Was not expecting such a weird morph to ever come up, wish I had more. Thing looks like an eldritch abomination/alien shrimp and I fkn love it.

Last picture is some of them eating leftover food. The water is fine just need to scrap the algae off the glass.

i only have shrimp. tank little over a month. only other thing is snails and sometimes saw detritus worms. this looks like a tick?
the pebble is 1-2 mm so this is VERY TINY. took photo on macro with additional magnifying glass which is like 10 x or something

Just bought a cheap attachable makro lens for higher quality shrimp pic.

My phone is rather old, but i really enjoy being able to take better quality shrimp pictures now 👌🏻
