300l small pond suggest me some more plants

Just thought it'd be funny to share what my plant tank's ammonia readings were today. I'm testing to see if the plants I have will survive high ammonia and deal with it well. No fish anytime soon lol

Yesterday my oscar started this spinning. Hes also at the surface gasping so I did a water check and all is in line (0 ammonia, 0 nitrite, 10ppm nitrate, ph 7.4). I did a 50% water change with no changes to his behavior. Nothing new has been added to the tank and no feeding anything other than the usual pellets. What things can I look for and are there any other tests I can do.

This is Frank. I posted about Franky yesterday because he started exhibiting strange behavior roughly 48 hrs ago. He is hovering the surface of the tank while heavily breathing or gasping. Periodically, he will start spinning to the left or right (mainly left) uncontrollably. I immediately checked my water parameters and they were 0 ammonia, 0 nitrite, 10-20 nitrate, ph 7.4. Even though my water parameters were in check I started a 50% water change immediately. There was no change in behavior after. I posted and got may answers but none have seemed to help so far and I'm not willing to give up. So I'm posting again hoping to reach new people and new ideas. Frank is roughly 1.5 years old. He's been in this exact setup for 6months and it was seeded/established by his original setup. Fully running for a month before adding him. He's a relatively happy Oscar without many tantrums. The tank is in the living room of a very active house, so he gets lots of attention. Usually tantrums for him consist of smacking the top of the water with his tail and flaring his gills at you or hiding in the bottom right corner when spooked/scared. Ive never seen him cut tight circles or a continuous spin. He is currently not interested in me or any food. On a regular day I can't walk past his tank without him doing a dance to get my attention. I have closely observed him over the past 2 days and I have not notice any unusual marks, bruises, scrapes scratches or anything attached to him. His gills look healthy from what I can see. I do plan to check phosphate levels as soon as my LFS opens as that was mentioned in my last post but I don't not have a way to check immediately. No new foods, no live feeds, no new plants/decorations.

Tank setup:
125g, sand subtract, 2 fluval fx6 canisters, 2 Aqueon Pro 300 heaters, dual outlet air pump rated for 120g with 4in air stones, 2 manzanita driftwood, anubias on the manzanita and some tuffs of java moss.

Changes made between posts:
Removed floating driftwood and attached java moss. Its been dropped recently so thought maybe it could be a stressor. Removed rocks/stones at the bottom so that there is more sand available for digging (he loves to dig)

Hi everyone I was wondering if this fish house was a lost cause it has this very dark algae on it and I have washed it about 3 times and nothing is working.

First time seeing my new Kribs breed. I didn't know males took turns watching over the fry! They've been great first time parents.

A while back I bought Amano shrimp for my freshwater tank. As far as I know, Amano larvae actually need brackish water to develop — so keeping them purely in freshwater shouldn’t allow successful reproduction.

But now I’m clearly seeing baby shrimp in my tank, about 1–1.5 cm, no longer larvae, that look just like my adult Amanos: transparent, with the pattern/dots on their backs.

I’d love to hear from anyone with experience or insight.

Looking for advice. While on vacation I came home to my EBA protecting eggs! I’m new to keeping these fish, and I didn’t know that they were mature, breeding, or even opposite sexes. I am concerned that since I got them from the same store as babies at the same time, they are likely siblings, will the fry be super messed up? and with EBA being recessive dont you have to have one regular blue and one electric? Please don’t judge, I want to learn and do whats best for my fish. Watching them protect the eggs has been so amazing, and I would like to raise the fry if they will be healthy. Any food recommendations or advice on keeping the tank clean would be helpful too, Ive been battling algae and excessive debris since I started the community tank about 5 months ago. I’m sure now I will need another tank as I also have 5 glass catfish, 8 kuhli loaches, a few panda corys and the black/blue tetras.

So I want to place my aquarium on this furniture. It’s a 60L tank. 50cm bij 35cm and 35cm. So not big. However the surface of this furniture is very on even. So I place a wooden plank that’s bigger then the measurement of the tank. And a old yoga mat to try to stabilize the plank without damaging the furniture. Hopefully it works. I can’t move the plank. So it’s really stable now. But I would like to have to hear your thought.

Also the door handle broke some time ago. Still need to fix it. However I haven’t found a replacement handle yet. So don’t come for my throat for that one.

I'm relatively new to the hobby, but it's very addictive. Already thinking about going bigger.

I'd been wanting to get back into fishkeeping now that I have adult money, but with adult money comes adult problems.

I have a spinal injury. So far, this hasn't kept me from any of my necessary maintenance or scaping. Scaping (planting, pruning, etc.) can take a while and sometimes it makes me frustrated; these are things I usually enjoy doing. I take frequent breaks to sit and things that seem simple take me days to accomplish. I also worry that someday somehow things will get worse for me health-wise and I'll have to give it all up.

My tank is low tech. No CO2 and no plans to incorporate such, even though I've been tempted by sleepless nights. 20 gallon long. Currently going through ich treatment. Stocked with amanos, ramshorns, harlequin rasboras and a clown pleco. I started Hikari Ich-X, though I did a preliminary dose of Kordon Ich Attack yesterday. (Not what I'm asking advice for.)

Things have changed and improved a lot since I last kept fish (pre-2018) so there are lots of QoL improvements and affordable equipment. One thing that has stayed true for me all these years though is the use of a sponge filter. I use a small water pump for water changes now. It takes forever but gets the job done and no heavy lifting involved.

My return to fishkeeping has been amazing. People are so friendly and ich doesn't seem as catastrophic as it did to me 8 years ago, etc.

I went through a long, dark and isolated period before moving out into my own apartment. Aside from the spinal injury, I've dealt with depression/anxiety for a long time and a litany of undiagnosed Things.

TL;DR: Body hurt all the damg time but fish cool. Some discussion questions:

I joined a local aquarium society (so exciting!!) and have been stopping by my LFS. My partner has been a huge help. I've also met local fellow aquarists over Aquaswap.

Now that I'm getting treatment for my health problems and I'm returning to things I enjoy, the world feels so much bigger and much less lonely.

Ive finished my first scape and got the tank filled and started cycling process! Filling the tank and not having the plants immediately float up was a losing battle but got there in the end, hopefully they dont all rot off due to how much i had to push them into the soil.

Anyway, my planned stocking is below and looking for any suggestions are improvements that can be made. Going for small community fish feel. I estimate net water volume at around 125-130 litres, using fluval 207 cannister filter, tank dimensions 70x40x54.5cm.

18 x Harlequin Rasboras

10 x julii/three stripe corydoras

3 x honey gourami

15 x amano shrimp

Does this sound reasonable?

Ammonia: 0

Nitrite: 0

Nitrate: 20

He is staying mostly at the surface. Gills moving fast. Otto usually high fast when I get close, but when I went to get water for the test. It just went a bit back between plants but still at the surface.

I set this tank up last night, I added some Rotalas, Red ludwigias (i think) and this carpet plant which appears to be Monte carlo or Pearlweed. My ludwigias and rotalas seem to be doing just fine, infact i can see new leaves form on them already. The carpet plants however, I'm not sure if they'd make it.. Is it normal that they're yellowing like this a day in? The store I bought them from didn't have a label on them and it was sold to me from an already existing tank. I kept these in a guppy tank for a while and they were doing fine for days so I'm not exactly sure if this is just natural melting or if there truly is a problem with the water/soil.

His tank is nearly a year old and most things have been running smoothly without any major issues.

​With his birthday coming up again i like to suprise him with a new fish/new fishes, that brings something different to the tank in terms of look or behavior.

​I’ve done a bit of research and was thinking about either a female Betta and/or an Otocinclus (there is some black beard algae)

​I’d love to get the community's input again. Do you think either of these options would work well in terms of tank size, tank mates, and parameters?
