Freshwater White perch or bass?
White perch? White bass? I was the first to catch a big fish and I was like it’s a small mouth bass! And my husband and dad said it was a white perch. I was looking at it and thought it had a stripe, so maybe a white bass? The dorsal fin looks wide.
Anyways, bass or perch?

Question Red Bump on Smallmouth's Tail
Anyone know what the red mark(s) on this smallmouth are from? A parasite? Caught and released in a lake straddling the California/Nevada border.

Freshwater Boundary Water Fishing
I’m a pretty seasoned bass fisherman, and have been around fishing most of my life. I’m going on a boundary water trip next year in northern Minnesota, which leads me to my next question. I’ve never done any fishing for Pike, Muskie, and Walleye. I’ve got about 11 months to prepare but any tips and tricks I should be aware of or start learning. I know how to fish with wire leaders from salt water fishing. I don’t know much about lures for Pike and Muskie, so any feedback would be great. I’ve been watching NDYakAngler on YT for a few years and he does a great job highlighting how to fish for Pike and Muskie

Short (4-5ft) ultralite rids for small stream trout?
I'm mostly a fly fisherman, but I've come across some tiny little creeks that I simply can't fish effectively with my 8ft fly rod, but I know for sure have good fish populations and maybe even some exceptionally large fish mixed in as well... I know how to use a fly rod fairly effectively in some types of cramped conditions... there's usually at least some way to get the line out... but I've tried and tried on these streams and there is simply no way to get a fly into the best water without getting close enough to spook the fish.
It feels like a 4-5 foot spin rod would give me enough clearance under the oberhanging branches to make the kind of casts I want to. What are some suggestions for very short rods to throw some rapalas, spinners, or maybe even bobber rigs to get into the best holes but keep myself far enough away to make the cast?

Other garcia mitchell 300
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
found this old mitchell 300 on the river and i’m going to give it a second chance at life i think. found this reel in much worse condition then it is now, super muddy, dirt in the gears and any other crevice you might think of.
i busted the reel down entirely and cleaned it up, re oiled and greased it, the metal on metal sound you may hear is from the housing hitting the spool upon reeling, nothing i can do about that other then try to bend it back somehow, but it doesn’t seem to mess with anything so i’m thinking of leaving that alone.
there was a plastic disc under the drag assembly but it was so corroded it fell apart upon removing it so that isn’t there anymore. apart from that and the terrible paint peel, the reel operates smoothly and seems to be fine.
thoughts on what i can do for the paint would be appreciated.

Freshwater Best in-line hooks for hard baits
Hello All,
I have some fun top water lures, but treble hooks are causing too much damage to the fish I'm catching. Where can I find good quality single hooks to replace trebbles? I bought some from Amazon, but they're very thick, and feel like they're more for salt water. Thanks!

Freshwater Good enough for crappie/small fish?
EDIT: my bad i should've realized i posted in r/fishing not r/FishingForBeginners
Sorry using mobile so format might get fucked.
This is the tackle I have set for myself and my kid to catch crappie and panfish in the back creek of my MILs. Is this adequate or do I need to up my tackle game and not use hotdog bits as stink bait?

Freshwater Need help
I have a medium 6'6ft fast action 1 piece I use for jerkbait and crankbait. I order a med-heavy 7'0ft moderate-fast action 2 piece. It is good for top water baits such as whopper plopper and frogs? For bass fishing im new to fishing and they are both baitcasters

Nice little Whiting I caught in Myrtle Beach
Didn't catch much besides little pinfish, an undersized flounder and stringray. I finally got my filets halfway decent and wanted to share, it was delicious. I used a little Lowry's seasoned salt and black pepper!

Saltwater Best Fluorocarbon for saltwater inshore fishing
I was wondering what’s the best fluorocarbon for inshore saltwater fishing for me to use?
I mainly fish around docks and pylons and use 30-40lb fluorocarbon. I use Seaguar 30lb gold label and 40lb blue label.
I recently broke off on a lot of fish in my last trip. I was wondering if there were any better fluorocarbon brands I should use because I’ve seen some people say seaguar sucks.

Question Any fishermen in Sarasota?
Hey everyone - I just moved to The Meadows in Sarasota and I’m looking to meet some people around my age (I’m 32) who are into fishing.
I’m mostly a freshwater bass fisherman, but one of the reasons I moved here was to get into saltwater fishing.
Not looking for anything weird - just hoping to make a few fishing buddies since I’m new to the area. If you’re interested in getting out on the water sometime, shoot me a message or leave a comment.
Also, if there’s a local fishing group, club, app, or regular meetup I should know about, I’d appreciate any recommendations. Thank you!
