I’m heading out to Whidbey island in Washington and cascades national park next week. Does anybody know how and where to catch salmon and trout up there. I have already been to Heather in the cascades before and got some cutthroat. Also any spots on whidbey. Right now I’m looking at lake goss.

Gonna go fishing today, need a spot my kids can go swim but also where I can fish.. that is known for catching fish.. or recently stocked? If not a swim spot still recommended for other days my kids aren’t with me.. I tried American lake, and I live next to Bonney lake but no luck so far from shore

1 resident coho and 4 hatchery chinook. Of course. And by the time it opens on Thursday, they’ll probably all be gone.

I'm heading to North Cascades NP from next Sunday to Friday and I want to do some fishing while I'm there. Rather than fishing random spots, I might like to hire a guide to show me where to go. Bonus if there's gear available as well so I don't have to pack mine. I typically have a spinner but I'm fine to try fly fishing as well. Any recommendations?

So I am aware that Seacrest and Edmonds Piers are open year round for Salmon, but what other piers are also open year round. I'm looking at Kayak Point and know there is a pier there but I am unsure whether I can fish there yet or have to wait until August 1st.

If you have been to Westport, you know the magic it holds. There is a proposal for a 18 hole course to be built directly on the wetlands and dunes.

The runoff created and the fact that over 90% of it is delicate interdunal wetlands should be enough but no. Making a private golf course here would demolish protected areas and would push locals and visitors out who come here for fishing, crabbing, beach combing, surfing and the wildness of the Washington coast.

Basically what the title says. Im looking for public river access suitable for fly fishing. I live on the kitsap peninsula and am willing to drive a couple hours. Also any fly pattern suggestions would be appreciated! Im from PA originally where river access is extremely easy to find, so im feeling a bit lost trying to navigate it out here...

Wanted to know how people did mainly around possession bar area 9. First couple hours of the 16th looked like everyone was hooking up, only had two hours so we didn’t get lucky. 17th seemed to slow down a little bit, fished all day and our two salmon came exactly at the peak of the slack tide. Absolute hogs but wild 🥲(20-25lbs). 18th was just dead maybe saw a couple boats catch but we didn’t get even a bite 5am-11am.

I’m heading up to north cascades for a week of hiking and solitude, and I’d like to do some fishing. I’m wondering if I should pack my own rod or if there’s somewhere I can just rent by the day. I’ll be flying into Seattle and then driving up to Deming for a few days, then over to Manzama for a few more days.

I always liked tying my own lures, it's just a little more satisfying catching a fish on something you made yourself. I thought I'd take it a step further and design an entire lure from scratch. This one spins as it is pulled through the water. So far it has caught Sockeye at Baker Lake, Coho, Chinook, and Pink Salmon on Puget Sound, as well as kokanee and bull trout.

I have some free time in the next two weeks so I want to target salmon. I only have a small kayak without motor so I would prefer bank fishing or relatively peace waters, few questions:
1. Are salmon in the rivers yet?
2. If I want to target salt water salmon from shore, is it feasible at this point of time?
3. It seems people are fishing baker lake for sockey now, but I am bit worried whether a kayak would be safe there with all the motor boats.

Any suggestions? Trying to see where can I get the best chances

Was thinking of going and plunking the skagit for the sockeye, anyone having any luck or is it a bit too late. If I had a boat, I'd hit baker lake...

• I have a 7'6" 3wt that I use for small trout in the mountains
• I have a 9' 6wt that I use for beach fishing, lakes, and larger rivers (mostly Nooksack/Skagit)

I'm looking for something that will open up new fisheries/species. I was leaning towards some type of spey setup for the Skagit, then got lost in the rabbit hole on switch, trout spey, one hand spey, lines, etc.

Me and my girlfriend are leaving on a road trip from Seattle next week and are planning on doing 3 days of fly fishing. We are flying in from Alberta and renting a campervan from there. We are planning on fly fishing on the snoqualmie river, hiking in and fishing Anette lake and trying our hand at sea run Cuttys off salt creek recreation area. Since we are flying in we are trying to save as much space as possible packing. Do you think we need waders and boots or will we be better off wet wading? Any other advice on locations, flies, etc is appreciated. Thanks in advance! Tight lines!

Has anyone shore casted their crab snares just north of the shipwreck in Mukilteo with much luck? I know the private property around the shipwreck is off limits. Worried that the sea floor is littered with boat parts from the wrecks.

Curious if anyone has had any luck there, or should I go south past picnic point beach for better luck on casting from the shore.

I have a kayak with no trolling motor. Will I be able to catch any sockeye on Baker lake without one?

Never caught salmon before so would love to be able to. Only ever caught trout, bass, blue gil. So any tips are appreciated. I'm up here all summer and with the season just opening it'd be great for me to learn

I grew up deep sea fishing my whole life, and just started recently trying my hand at fly fishing. My dad got me a bunch of different flys and gave me one of his old rods. I have been out a few times and have so far managed to catch some small stuff.

I just want to learn more. I would love to meet new people with the hobby if possible, and make friends within the sport. None of my friends fly fish. Are there any clubs or groups, events or the like that people go to? Id love to just hear about how people got started in general.

Also, I’ve been very lucky in having people teach me some basics, but I still know nothing, really. People have rigged my lines for me and chosen my flies. Is there lessons somewhere that someone can recommend? Or classes around flies? I have been trying to watch videos, but I learn the best usually through reading and hands on activities- but the manuals on flies I’ve read so far really haven’t helped me understand the difference between them or how to choose what to use.

Also final question- wader recommendations for women? I have a really oversized pair of waders i’ve been using and felt bottom shoes (that do fit me), but my waders have quite significant leaks I have been unsuccessful in patching. Im looking to invest in a good new pair of waders thats actually well fit for women, but not looking to break the bank in that investment as well.
