I have noticed recently in my first few months of this hobby that I have a serious problem. That being I cannot stop stocking up on inline spinners. Rooster tails have been the only lure that catches me fish, so I kept buying them in multiple varieties. Now I’m getting ready for a trip to Utah and going to try trout fishing, and my local DICKS had a deal for buy 2 get 2 mepps spinners.

Friend of mine just gifted me 2 other inline spinners.

I now have 6 rooster tails

5 mepps.

Haven’t even tried the mepps yet

im looking to get a new reel for my 7'3 medium heavy fast. at my local shop I get a good discount and can get the curado dc for $268, but I found the metanium mgl 100 for 268$, the exact same price. I bet your like this dudes crazy for not buying the metanium for that low of a price but ive always wanted a dc reel and i have really nice non dc reels in my arsenal like the bantam mgl and curado m. Id mainly be using chatterbaits, spinnerbaits, jigs and texas rigs. Im open to other reel reccomendations aswell so help me out a little here guys😂

This is my current set up for throwing weightless senko from the bank: Shimano SLX 7’ MH + Shimano Sahara 2500 + Daiwa 20lb 8x J-braid with 12lb fluorocarbon leader.

My rationales for this set-up are: 1) I find it difficult to throw weightless senko using a MH casting rod 2) medium power rods spinning or casting often lack the backbone to set the hook satisfactorily or to be used in grassy areas.

What’s your preferred set up for weightless T-rig?

Here's a video I did this afternoon and it should apply to any older direct drive model. Lubricants used were TSI 321 in the bushings and worm gear and a very light application of molybdenum disulfide grease on the gears. At the end of the video you can see how well it performs.

I’m deciding between the voltiq sx or the shimano slx 70 with the mgl spool. I’m pairing it with a daiwa tatula xt rod medium heavy/mod fast. What are yalls experience with each reel and which would you choose?

I got an Calcutta Bfs on an Poison Adrena 6’4L BFS but got an Orichi X10 Cliffhanger to swap it out, I will still need a bottom contact set up so would it be smarter to get another bfs reel to pair with the adrena or get a bottom contact rod for my soon to come twinpower 3k with the money i make from selling the adrena?
I’m mainly fishing 1/8-3/8 for bottom contact things and fishing in park lakes and bigger lakes too.

Do I get this model and spool with 0.8 pe for best casting distance ? Or go for the c3000hg model so that even though it will take like 1.2 pe at 300m, it can also be spooled with roughly 150 yards of Power pro 15lb if I need braid in a pinch and can’t wait for another order from a JDM website ?

The customer already had two bearing in the spool of this reel, but as per normal procedure I had to hook him up with a new zirconia ceramic pawl! Casts like a hot damn!

You can never have enough...

A good 1 piece 5'6" does not seem to exist. Would love to be proven wrong. Used to have a St. Croix Premier rod that was 5'6", medium power even, but I snapped the tip.

As title says, my boomerang cutters are getting dull. Love them, but after being heavily used for over a year they start to struggle a bit for heavier (30#+) braid.

Is it possible to sharpen them? Or do I just replace them? Sorry if this is a dumb question, just wondering if anyone had a similar problem.

I bought this rod today over the expride 6’10” moderate fast. I plan on using it for jerkbaits, crankbaits, and small spinner baits/chatterbaits mainly kayak fishing skinny rivers. I was considering the daiwa steez sv tw or zillion sv tw to put on it with 12 pound flouro. I have experience with expride, which I love, but I wanted to try the next step up. Was the PA worth the extra money or did I make a mistake?

Im assuming that FR means either Regular Fast or Frog Rod. either way its leaving me confused as to the taper of this rod.

Im of the understanding that JDM rods lean more moderate with softer tips. Is that what im looking at here?

Due to a relentless stream of factory defects and severe quality control failures, I decided to stop placing new orders. Prior to this, the supplier had assured me that all products came with a 1-year warranty and that replacement parts would be provided. For a while, they did send some parts. However, the moment I informed them that I would no longer be purchasing new boats, they completely ghosted me.

Their direct response was that they refuse to send any more warranty parts. They broke their commitment, leaving me high and dry with defective units and zero support for my existing customers.

Key Issues You Need to Know Before Buying:

• Zero Quality Control: Bait boats arrive broken or defective straight out of the factory box. There is virtually no pre-shipment inspection. (You can see the full extent of these failures in the linked video below).
• Absurd Shipping Delays: Logistics are a nightmare. On several occasions, I had to wait two full months just for them to dispatch the order, and another two months for delivery.
• Severe Communication Barrier: The sales manager, Love Liu, does not speak English and fundamentally fails to understand technical issues. When requesting specific replacement parts for defects, they would constantly send useless items instead—like spare handles—while ignoring the actual broken electronics or mechanical components.
• Unprofessionalism & Disorganization: The seller operates with an arrogant attitude, routinely forgets client requests, mixes up orders, and sends wrong items. I even received invoices containing other clients' confidential details.
• Total Abandonment During Failures: As soon as an issue arises, their strategy is to ignore messages, evade responsibility, and offer zero troubleshooting support.

I’ve recently began fishing a lot more, and my biggest problem so far has been the line messing up. I tried braid (I can’t remember mm and threw the packaging right away, but it said it was good for ~8kg). It snapped 3 times in situations where, in similar situations, monofilament has lasted much better. It snapped very easily when I was stuck, and after I made my knot I tried pulling on the line with my hands, and the line snapped a bit up the line from the knot. I just can’t trust it like this, it definitely should not snap from me pulling on it (I’m not superman). Was I unfortunate with my line-selection? I really just want a line that will be reliable and easy to use, that I can trust. Where I fish I can get trout up to 4kg, so I need something that can withstand a bit of strain. Do you guys have any suggestions? I’m willing to invest a bit in a good line rn. Is for example suffix 832 a good choice? Most important for me is that it won’t snap too easily, and doesn’t make flukes all the time.

I have this gun oil I use for my knives, I was wondering if I could use it to lubricate my spinning reel

Thanks to our huge house filled to the brim with parts, I managed to put together a custom Abu reel. I call it the Abu “Gold Dust”. At heart, this is an Abu Garcia 6500C3 with our stage 3 Abu super tuning kit, boasting 11+1 ball bearing, most of which are ceramic hybrids!

There is a little bit of noisy rattling so I’ll need to dig back in and make some adjustments, but in the meantime I can flex this beauty.

This thing is a masterclass of it’s kind. Impressively smooth, almost like there’s no resistance, and could still hold up as a competitor to modern day round reels. Serviced and lubed with Deuthlon all over, and popped in a nice zirconia ceramic pawl.

Fun fact: This reel can be subbed with the levelwind components from the Abu round reels. This also means that our dual bearing levelwind kits will fit in this reel, which is sick!

So, im thinking of getting a glide and swimbait set up. I already got the megabass levante EMTF. My question is, do I get another zillion or should I wait until the curado DC is in stock? I see mixed reviews of the older model and just wondering if it would just be more worth it to get the same reel for a different set up. Thanks!
