Dix Park trolls

Upvotes

Hi, we went to see the trolls soon after they were installed and it was crazy busy!

I was wondering if it has become less popular since then. My mom is coming for the weekend and she wants to go see them. She's in a wheelchair, which is doable although not quite accessible. It would just be harder with big crowds. Should I convince to come on a weekday instead?

Thanks!

We have received applications, but they are for separate homes. We received one application for both, but the person stopped responding when we reached out.

We are worried that if we cannot find someone willing to adopt them together, we may lose these possible homes too. 💔They are bonded.😿
We are completely out of capacity. The rescue is currently caring for more than 150 cats, and I am personally fostering 21 cats. More cats are needing help every day.

When her other kittens were adopted, she cried for days. She is a devoted mama and still needs to be with her baby. They play together, love each other, and share a special bond. My heart is breaking at the thought of separating them… 😿

Mama Kali (not even a year old) and her little daughter Pebbles are a bonded mother–daughter duo under Sunkissed Acres NC looking for their forever home.

Kali & Pebbles are:

Vaccinated, Spayed/fixed, Dewormed, deflead , Combo tested negative and Microchipped

Adoption fee: $150 for both (one adoption fee is sponsored, so you are getting two amazing cats together ❤️)

Her Story: ❤️🥹

I didn’t find Kali… Kali found me.

I will forever be grateful to this sweet young mama for trusting me and bringing her babies to me.

Kali was abandoned when her family moved away, left behind wearing a collar that became painfully tight as she grew. Alone and vulnerable, she gave birth to her kittens under a deck during harsh weather.

She and her babies were never truly safe. They were chased away by people and were at risk of being relocated.

Every day, Kali came to my porch for food. I noticed she was nursing and started asking everyone to check their decks and garages for kittens.

Then one day…

She brought her babies to me.

She chose me.

She trusted me. ❤️

While rescuing her kittens, some were brought inside while others were still outside waiting for their chance at safety. This incredible little mama made double shifts…staying with the kittens who were safe indoors, then returning outside to nurse and care for the ones still waiting.

Her love never divided.

Her heart never gave up.

Kali is the sweetest, most gentle mama. Pebbles shares a very special bond with her, and after everything they have survived together, they deserve to continue their journey side by side.

Kali deserves a safe, indoor-only home where she will never be left behind again… only loved, protected, and cherished.

Kali is pure love. Pebbles is her little shadow. Together, they are a beautiful story of love, trust, and an unbreakable mother–daughter bond.

If you feel a connection with Kali and Pebbles, please message me.

Please share to help this beautiful mama and daughter find the forever home they deserve.

Found Fancy Pigeon in Hurdle Mills

Hi friends, do you know someone that’s lost a fancy pigeon in the Durham/Orange county area? To be clear, this is not the pigeon that was posted whose band leads back to Carolina Waterfowl.

This is a cream and tan pigeon, no leg band that I can see. I have no way to capture it, but it’s been hanging out at my place on the roof for about an hour (since I got home and discovered it on my car). I did put out some seed and cut up fruit, as well as a water dish. It reacts when I coo and talk to it, but I haven’t wanted to try to get close since we have so many hawks.

If this is your bird, or you have a hookup with a rescue that would come capture it please let me know.

TSA lines at RDU?

I'm taking a domestic flight tomorrow that departs at 7 a.m. and. boarding starts at 6:30. I'm in the cheapest seats, so I won't boarding early. Just wondering if I truly need to arrive at 5 a.m.? I've never waited more than 15 minutes at the most. I just got a prod from the airline.

Any opinions on Alta Davis Apartments

I am moving to the RTP area. Can’t really go in and tour physically but I looked at and talked with the following apartments.

Condour - no real opinion on it

Brizo - felt older than the other ones

Forayne Davis - Too empty

Maa Nixie - A little stranded compared to the other ones, I don’t have a car yet.

Alta Davis - I like the floor plan, the community and the amenities. My only concern is the thin walls issue I saw on Reddit.

I am planning to go ahead with Alta Davis. What do you guys think?

A few questions about Goodnights Comedy Club

Hello, one of my favorite comedians is coming to Goodnights in a few months and I’ve been thinking about going, but I’ll most likely be by myself. I’m a pretty anxious/shy person so I don’t often like going places on my own or socializing with strangers but I try not to let it totally prevent me from going to things I enjoy. This will also be my first time going to an actual comedy club so I’m just not familiar with the inner workings of it.

So is this a place I could go on my own without worrying about feeling awkward/uncomfortable? What’s the seating situation like? I tried looking up pictures of the inside but they seemed old and I couldn’t really get a full grasp on what the inside is like. It looked like a restaurant type seating arrangement and I’d feel uncomfortable taking up a whole table to myself or sitting with a random couple like a third wheel. Am I good to solo it or should I just try to find a friend to go with me?

Fantasy Football League

I'm trying to find a fantasy football league, $50-$200 (or more) per team, in the triangle area. I was part of a league that live drafted, had a rotating trophy, and I made some good friends over the years. I typically do redraft leagues, but would be open to other types except auction.

I live in Franklinton, but have no issue traveling for the right league. It doesn't have to be a live draft league, but competitive and active are important to me. I'm 44, married, and an active owner.

Thanks for taking the time to read this.

Good morning everyone! I am looking for a 3-month rental, preferably under $1,300/month. Location can be Raleigh, Cary, Morrisville, Apex. No fancy amenities needed - just a bed and bathroom w/AC for the most part.

Having a hard time on the various websites, so any advice or help would be appreciated!

Suggestions for learning electronics repair

I've always wanted to be the guy who pokes around with a soldering iron and oscilloscope in a broken cell phone (or whatever) and gets it up and running again. I'm not looking to change careers; mostly I just hate how disposable everything has become, and I'd like to be able to keep things out of the landfill a little longer.

I already tinker a bit, and I'll continue to educate myself, but that's slow going, and I don't have any partners or mentors to get me unstuck when needed.

I know I could just enroll in a technical college, but I have a hunch there are other cool options I'm not aware of.

Ideally I'd rather not travel too far from home (Durham), but I can drive a bit if the opportunity is right.

Thanks for any ideas!

Seeking: automated titration system

Frugal triangle-area professor here. I often hear of RTP-area corporate/government labs (or university labs) closing shop and liquidating their instruments, thereby selling off expensive equipment for pennies on the dollar. It's hard to stay on top of this, however, so I figured I'd just throw out a line to see if anyone can meet my lab's current need by selling their cast-offs for a good price (or donating):

I'm looking for an automated titration system. Not just any unit will do for my application, but some units are modular enough that they'd be able to get me most of the way there if I supplement with some new parts. I need something that can handle two dosing units and two electrode inputs.

Models I know will fit the bill: Metrohm Titrando 905/906/907 (and some older models; I'm interested in any Metrohm instruments people might have), Mettler Toledo Excellence T9, SI Analytics TitroLine 7800, probably some from KEM.

Pharma/biotech, environmental, and ag labs are probably the likeliest to have something like this. Would love to hear from anyone who might have a line on an instrument gathering dust somewhere.
