Can anyone help me find the ruined mill? I followed Google directions to the Bellemont historic district, but aside from two large cisterns I could not find the actual mill ruins.

Long shot ! Boiled peanuts?
I grew up in South Carolina and some of the dingy gas stations used to have boiled peanuts and it was phenomenal. I moved out to Colorado about a decade ago, but my siblings and I are now visiting some family in Burlington and we were wondering if there were still any gas stations with boiled peanuts around? We'd be willing to drive up to half an hour away to find some.

BEWARE of Furniture World GSO and Burlington!! #furnitureworldgso
Worst furniture company we have EVER worked with. BBB rating of an F for all locations. Only good google reviews are AI summarized. READ all 1 star and 2 star reviews. We all have the same complaints! Furniture arrives either incorrect product, broken, missing parts or dirty!!! We've been trying for over a year to get our sectional fixed. It arrived missing parts and could not operate until they came back days later. The delivery/repairmen are extremely unprofessional, dropped our couch, didn't know how to put it together even, they arrive always at night after 7pm if they arrive at all! There is no manufacturer warranty even though by law there has to be. Mohamed Husein, the owner, passes off problems onto Maria who then lies to customers or is so ill informed that she has no idea what is going on. Tells us the repair is scheduled for Wed., nope, waited all day for the 10th time in the course of this purchase. Then she said Friday between 6:30- 8 PM, they arrive bringing in a table and chairs....not to repair our year old couch that has been broke for TEN MONTHS, then leave and come back saying they have a black sectional they can give us in the truck. What??? We want our grey sectional fixed or replaced so we say no, we only want grey. They say they'll be back the next day. All day waiting, no response from Maria or Mohamed until late afternoon when Maria says they'll be here between 7-8 PM. Of course no one showed up. This is the 10th time since May 2025 we have tried to deal with them to just get a functional sofa. When we finally got them out to "fix" the recliner that was stuck open due to the buttons no longer working after just a few months, they put an external cord on as a supposed temp fix but never came back. Sold us a useless Guardsman warranty that won't honor any repairs needed in the first year due to a mandatory manufacturers warranty. This was NOT a floor model, we ordered it and had to wait. There are dozens of other google reviews just like this but no one sees unless you specifically read the lowest. Every good review makes sure to mention someone's name in the review. Maybe this whole business is a front for something else, who knows but it is unlike any other business we have ever worked with. They DO NOT stand behind their product or have any decent customer service. They tell you what you want to hear and then ghost you. Anyone else have similar experience?

We had to splice it together after it got caught in the recliner so it wouldn't catch fire.
They still haven't responded about their delivery/repairman not showing up....shocker!!! Now we have to go to next steps and follow through with our threats of a lawsuit.

Moving to Burlington, Worried About Safety.
My wife and I are seriously considering a house in Burlington NC. We're excited about the house, since we have struggled with the state of the market for starter homes, and are not high income. The house itself is awesome too.
That said, we're really concerned about safety. We've been told that things vary street to street. However, we're just not sure if we could ever walk at night alone, and I feel like that might make our home feel like a fortress instead of being a part of a community.
For reference, the house in question is very close to downtown, about a 10 minute walk south west from the town center (old train station, etc.).
We'd love to hear what y'all locals think!

Why isn't Alamance Theater Showing the Odyssey next week?
EDIT: Nevermind they are. They just didn't have it listed under coming soon.
Anybody know why Alamance Theater isn't showing the Odyssey? Or do they just not update their "Coming Soon" list? I am scared of phonecalls, so I'm not calling them to ask. Thanks.

in search of local cleaning service!!!
Hey y'all! We're are looking for a one-time full house cleaning, but the estimate from the first couple companies we talked to seemed steep. Was hoping someone on this sub might have a recommendation. Its something we definitely need to invest in, but also not an investment we can take lightly, y'know? So I figure it's worth crowd-sourcing y'all's opinions lol

Fireworks?
That was the saddest firework display I've seen in a while, even compared to previous years Burlington has done. They went on and on about how much they were spending on fireworks... The Durham Bulls have better fireworks WEEKLY at the baseball games. What a joke.

Bluegrass/folk jams in town?
Looking for a weekend jam in town where I can have some fun playing music. I’ve been driving to Chapel Hill the last few months, but I’d like to save my gas if I can.
