Hello! I saw a few posts a while ago (like this one) about peacocks in the area and am just so fascinated by this. Does anyone have any more information on them and their origins? Does anyone know where, when, and how I could best find them (just to look at from a distance)?

Y’all, this place is heaven. It’s filled to the brim with stickers, art supplies, stationery, incredible pens (this is just a fraction of what’s there) AND there’s a store dog named Nessie who is adorable. Yes, she’s named after the Loch Ness Monster, who was my first cryptid obsession. Kismet!
I had the pleasure of chatting with Michelle, one of the owners too! She was so gracious and friendly; answering my questions, letting me pet her dog, and basically just listened to me babble about how thrilled I was with the store. The rest of the staff was wonderful as well.
Anyway, if you like art, fun, happiness, and dogs named after cryptids, you’ll love Alan’s.
Hey, and if you’ve been there, hit me with your favorite purchases! I’m always looking for new fun stuff. And if you know of any other stores similar to Alan’s let me know!
P.S. I promise I’m not a shill for Alan’s. Just a very enthusiastic adult who enjoys stickers.

Hi! I’m a new Chapel Hill resident with a bit of free time this fall and I’d like to get involved in my new community. So I’d love to get the opinions of current Chapel Hill residents about our town’s greatest unmet needs. Bonus points for identifying community organizations that are already doing great work to meet these needs. Thanks!
UPDATE: This thread has been great! But maybe I should have specified that I’m looking for ways for an individual to get involved that don’t require divine or fed/state/local government intervention… 😂
UPDATE 2: Surprised no one suggested volunteering to be one of the mods in this subreddit so that we can finally get a custom subreddit logo. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

I am a 20 year old male who has never boxed before and am looking to get into it. I’m not super interested in competing but I still want to join a gym or something and maybe take a few lessons. Any suggestions? Don’t want to drive more than like 30 minutes

I went to Mr Tokyo to get lunch, and was told they were closed because the water main burst and therefore they don't have water.

We were enrolled in Lupine last year and loved it. It's set on a farm with lots of animals and their preschool program has 3 teachers for 18 total students. Our daughter is currently enrolled again but we may need to un-enroll her. In order to do so, we need to fill our spot as well as any of the remaining spots that may still be open (I think 1 or 2). If you're interested, please comment or DM me or just check out their website and reach out to admissions. https://www.thelupinecommunityschool.com/

I have a lease for an apartment in Chapel Hill for August 1st. Plans changed and I won’t be moving in. What is best way to get this in front of those looking last minute? Facebook groups are charging, which I will pay if needed. Also I can offer $1k as an incentive. I don’t want to turn this into an add but I have the details if needed. More interested in thoughts and strategies since AI’s advice seems pretty generic in this case.

My family are I are moving to Chapel Hill over Labor Day weekend. We are moving from Dallas. My wife is originally from Buffalo and I am from Long Beach, CA. Complicated, I know lmao. We have two young children, 3 years and 18 months. Some of our extended family live in Myrtle and Blacksburg, VA. We know a few people in Raleigh but do not know anyone in Chapel Hill. I would love to connect with some people before moving!
I am 34 years old and currently on the tail end of double knee surgery so I’m not too mobile yet but, I like being outside, golfing, fishing, yoga, watching sports, going to shows (music, art, and theatre). I love metalcore and rap but I was raised on country so I’m pretty well rounded music-wise but can’t play any instruments. I’m in the process of becoming a reader so stay tuned haha! I am looking forward to being in a progressive town with a sports culture.
I am also almost 3 years sober but I really do not mind being around alcohol, I do not want to impede on anyone trying to have a good time. I am a liberal leaning not too religious human being but that does not deter me from being friends with anyone and everyone.
Thanks for reading, take care of yourselves!

Hey there, im a 16 year old homeschooled teen, living in Madison County. I'm looking to get a part-time job to make some money, and gain experience. Hours are pretty flexible. Does anyone know of local businesses or spaces that are currently hiring teens in Hot Springs/Marshall/Mars Hill/Weaverville area maybe?

I’m a tourist to the RTP. Today was to be spent in Chapel Hill area but the forecast has thunderstorms predicted. It’s also in the high 90s.
Can anyone recommend an indoor activity? We were thinking of going to a mall with a movie theater.
Over the last 2 days we’ve been to the Nasher and NC Museum of Art and I’d like to do something different. Two adults over 45. A movie might be nice after walking a mall. Thanks for your help!
