Underrated European beach festival: Color Fest, Southern Italy (Aug 11-13)

For anyone planning summer festivals in Europe: Color Fest takes place on a beach in Calabria, Southern Italy (Lamezia Terme, Aug 11-13, 14th edition). Six stages spread between the beach and a pine forest on the Gulf of Sant'Eufemia, right on the sea.

The line-up mixes indie and electronic — Apparat, Django Django, Sébastien Tellier, Cosmo (sunrise set), The Zen Circus, C'mon Tigre, James Holden.

This year's theme is "Summer on a solitary beach". It's a 10-minute drive from Lamezia international airport, so easy to reach.

Anyone been to the Italian beach festivals? Curious how this one compares.

A crowdsurfing, white-bearded man with a helmet. Sleater-Kinney & Fred Armisen in a Ramones cover band. Pavement half-remembering the lyrics to “Stairway to Heaven.” These are scenes from 2026’s Mosswood Meltdown, where “bizarre” is a loving prerequisite to perform.

Every year I tell myself I’m going to pack lighter for camping trips, and every year I somehow end up bringing way more than I planned.

The hardest part is finding that balance between being prepared and basically packing a whole survival kit. Extra pods, a power bank, charging cables, backups… it all adds up quickly, especially when you’re already carrying camping gear, food, and everything else you need for a weekend away.

Most of the time, these trips are road trips, which makes it easy to throw in “just one more thing” before leaving. But that’s also the problem — the more space you have, the more stuff you end up bringing.
Heat is probably one of my biggest concerns. Things that work perfectly at home don’t always feel the same after sitting in a hot car or backpack all day. I’ve had situations where something looked like it should still have plenty left, then suddenly it didn’t. Or I brought extra backups “just in case” and ended up carrying things I never even used.

Honestly, that’s probably what bothers me the most — not just running out, but not really knowing where things stand until it becomes a problem.

Lately I’ve also been thinking more about how much stuff I bring to festivals and camping trips in general. Carrying multiple backups for a weekend away can start to feel unnecessary, especially when some of those things eventually become waste.

For people who go camping or attend outdoor festivals regularly, how do you usually manage your setup? Do you prefer bringing extra backups for peace of mind, or do you try to keep everything as minimal as possible?

Advice Needed (pls)

I want to start this off by saying I AM NOT SELLING MY TICKET ON THIS SUBREDDIT OR ON REDDIT IN GENERAL. I respect the rules of the subreddit, I am simply looking for advice.

I am trying to sell a ticket to a music festival as I can no longer go due to being in a car accident (my tire flew off of my car?? Crazy.) and I need the money to pay my deductible. As much as it absolutely BREAKS my heart, it is what it is.

I am wondering what the best way to go about selling the ticket is without getting scammed. I’m trying to sell locally if I can, but if not is PayPal friends and family the best route?

If anyone has any advice or tips I would so so appreciate it because I really need the money unfortunately. I’m selling it for less than what the official website is currently selling it for as well so I’m hoping that will help my chances. Thanks in advance!!!

A Celebration at the Cali State Fair’s Cannabis Oasis

This party happens at the fair’s end. Not a lot is going to be newer though..

At the first cannabis exhibition, hardcover copies of the 2003 memoir Ghetto Celebrity were a presence, bought, signed, and read by curious weed culture lovers.

On July 30, the author is back to celebrate the memoir High Times this spring called “not a novelty weed memoir. It is a literary memoir.”

Tent Recommendations

Looking for some recommendations for a new tent for Elements. I'll be sharing with one other girl but preferably something that sleeps 3 for future festies and something I am able to stand up in! In the $100-$150 range if possible :)
