Relocating & housing Apartment recs !!

hi! I'm a 20 y/o F who is moving to Dallas from Garland because my commute is actually from hell. I work both of my jobs around Preston center. I'm looking at areas around uptown, midtown, Preston hollow, and just around UP and HP in general.

id like to live somewhere that is pretty walkable/safe with a younger community. obviously the community isn't the most important part, but it would be appreciated.

im looking for a one bedroom that's under 1600 base rent. I'd like it to be updated! if you have any recs, please let me know!! I'm desperate lol.

Relocating & housing Apartment review

Considering to move to Cedar park or Leander, Tx. We were considering the below apartments (1\*1):

  1. The Alden at cedar park
  2. Park at crystal falls
  3. The view at cedar park

The cedar park ones are little expensive and come with a smaller sq ft. The park at crystal falls has great reviews (wondering if it’s actually true). Anyone who lives or knows about these apartments can you share your experience ? Any other apartments suggestions in these neighborhoods also appreciated.

Relocating to Richardson for work, where do I choose to live?

Where should I look into for an apartment?

The things I value most are diversity and seeing people that look like me(black people), living in a safe neighborhood/community, and living around either middle class or younger ambitious people (I am 25). I don't want to live in a community of despair. I'd be ok with a commute of up to 1hr max.

For context I am coming from Long Beach CA

Thank you for the help.

‘Reserved for expectant mothers’ sign?

Hi, my wife and I were looking for a store that has a ‘Reserved for expectant mothers’ parking spot for a fun pregnancy announcement photo shoot. Does anyone know of a store that has one in the area? It doesn’t have to be the exact verbiage.

Bonus points if it’s closer to Garland/Richardson.

Tourism What are some MUST SEE things?

I’ll be visiting Texas for the first time in a few months and am lost on where to start with planning! I’ll be staying around Plano and spending some time in Dallas, and am looking for suggestions you would give to any tourist! I am specifically interested in the arts, history, food, and nature. Thanks in advance!

Pets/Animals Dog Sitter Recommendations?

I am looking for someone to watch my dog this fall as all of my go to sitters are unavailable during my dates. She has never been boarded, has separation anxiety, needs medicine every 12 hours, and is an elderly Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. Any recommendations for exceptional dog sitters? I am not interested in boarding her in a kennel as she gets very stressed when she is placed in the vet kennels during her drop off appointments.

Thank you in advance for the help!

Photographer recommendations for August?

Hi! I’m looking for a photographer in the Dallas area (happy to drive to nearby cities) for a short family photoshoot in August for 4 adults.

Preferably indoors, but open to outdoors. Ideally a shorter session. We’re flexible on weekdays or weekends.

The style I’m looking for is clean, soft lighting, neutral backgrounds, with a mix of candid smiles and simple poses.

Any recommendations are appreciated. Thanks!

Pets/Animals Best shop for bettas?

I'm in the mid-cities and wanting to get back into small-scale aquaria. I'd like to get another female betta. I'm aware of Fish Gallery in Addison having good stock, however that's a 45-minute trip at best. Are there any aquatics stores in mid-cities or FW that you can recommend as having a good collection of female bettas?

Also, not Dallas North Aquarium, please. John is a thief.

Nightlife & Entertainment Best cocktail lounges/bars w/ skyline views?

Hey y'all!! Trying to plan my 25th birthday and just wondering what are the best rooftop bars with a great view of the skyline?? I've heard of catbird and been to HG supply co, but wanted any and all recs with a good vibe for a crowd around my age! Also looking for something not too ridulously expensive! My entire group of friends will also be around 13-15 people so perhaps a place that can accomodate larger parties as well? Born and raised in Dallas, just wanting some good recommendations!

Nightlife & Entertainment Bars/Clubs with good music??

Hey all!! I was curious, does anyone know any good bars/clubs in downtown Fort Worth that play actually good music? I’m soooo tired of here the same 10 country songs 😞

We usually go to 7th, or Sundance Square but are open to new options!! Ideally closer to that area would be best, we like to Uber 🫣

Thank you!

Electric & Utilities New Homeowner in North Ft Worth (Justin 76247)

Hello everyone,
We are currently building a new house in Wildflower Ranch (North Fort Worth/Justin area) and plan to move in during the first week of September. Our builder mentioned that CoServ is the only electric provider for the community and that Atmos supplies the natural gas.

Right now, we’re renting in Euless and using TXU without any issues, so I wanted to ask for feedback on CoServ and Atmos.

Are they reliable, and how do their prices compare?

Our home will be a brand‑new two‑story build, and the builder says it should be energy‑efficient.

Any suggestions or experiences would be appreciated.

Thank you!

Nightlife & Entertainment IMAX seat question

Trying to get a ticket for The Odyssey 70mm and all the good seats are taken, as was to be expected because I'm super late! The furthest back I've been able to find is the 3rd row, C, would watching it from there still be really bad?

Relocating & housing Moving to Dallas and trying to figure out where to live (Design District commuters)

Hey everyone! My partner and I are moving to Dallas soon and could really use some help from people who actually live there.

We both work near the Design District, so being within a 5-10 minute drive of our offices is a big one. We'd love to be in a high-rise, 1-2 bedroom, and our budget is around $2,000-$2,500.

Here's our wishlist:

  • Walkable to shops, cafes, and restaurants (nothing better than being able to stroll out for coffee on a Saturday)
  • A safe neighborhood
  • That short commute to the Design District

Full honesty though, these are just our expectations and I have no idea if they're actually realistic for Dallas. If our budget or wishlist is off, please tell me! We'd rather adjust now than be disappointed later.

From my research so far, people seem to recommend Uptown, Turtle Creek, Oak Lawn, and Trinity Groves. Do those sound right, or is there a neighbourhood we're missing?

Also, if you have specific building recommendations, please send them! Thanks in advance, we're really excited about the move!

KID STUFFS! DISD Universal Pre-K

Anyone enrolling in universal Pre-K this year know how easy it is to transfer to another neighborhood school? We’re planning for next year and would ideally attend a nearby school, then continue there for kindergarten (Withers or DeGolyer).

Relocating & housing Is oak lawn a good/safe neighborhood to live in?

I’m a 19 F moving to the States from Finland (🫪) and I’m going to be working at the Dallas Love Field airport. I’ve been looking into moving to Oak Lawn, but as I’m from one of the safest countries in the world, my biggest concern is safety. Is it generally safe to move in the oak lawn and love field area alone via public transport during the daytime?

Sports/Sportsball Parking/Transport advise for Dallas Cowboys game (20th Sept)

Hi everyone!

My partner and I are coming over to Dallas in September from UK and looking at going to the Dallas Cowboys game on 20th September.

After having a look at official parking (with cheapest being $120), I was just wondering if anyone can advise on any other options? Haven’t booked hotel yet but will be planning on staying in Arlington or Dallas and will have a hire car.

Appreciate any advice/suggestions in advance :)

Tourism If you could cram the DFW into a week as a tourist, what would you do?

Hello! My wife and I are visiting the Dallas-Fort Worth next week, Sat-Sat and our friends and family that have been there have been absolutely no help. In terms of food, the only recommendation we were given was Whataburger and I refuse to let that be our best experience. So if you could cram the best possible experience into a week, what would you do?
