Pittsburgh Music Scene Vs Cincinnati

I live in Cincinnati and spend time in Pittsburgh for work. What a huge difference in the number of live music shows between the two. For example tomorrow there are 51 live music events in Cincinnati (4-6 are dj / drag shows) compared to 4 in Pittsburgh. Thursday has 49 in Cincinnati and 6 in Pittsburgh.

Cincinnati has a huge amount of live music events per capita than almost any city! Thoughts?

Considering moving to Toledo, is there anything I should know?

I'd be coming from California, so I was surprised to see the rent on a few places. I can't tell if it's just that that's the normal going rate for Ohio or if there's something wrong with this type of property? " https://www.realtor.com/rentals/details/27696-Oregon-Rd_Perrysburg_OH_43551_M34281-05098?from=srp-list-card "

In California it would be about $2,300. I was surprised mainly because the salary isn't that wildly different it seemed like.

From what I could tell the main differences that it snows and is colder than California, and less people, and cheaper rent.

Thank you!

3rd party helped take kids without consent looking for help to sue for damages

My ex accused me of many things, in end she got nothing and I got kids equal time. In Ohio there is law that 3rd party can be held accountable for damages if they helped Ex move kids without just cause. She got free housing for year over her lies. I am wondering if there are any lawyers in Cleveland Ohio area to look at this case? Ohio Revised Code 2919.23 makes it a crime to "aid, abet, induce, cause, or encourage a child" to be taken from their custodial parent. Depending on the circumstances, this can be a misdemeanor or, if the child was taken out of state, a felony. Civil action: You may be able to file a civil lawsuit against the third party for damages resulting from their interference. [1, 2, 14]. Ex wife can help too

advice for leaving hazardous apartment?

this might be long winded… my partner and I found a new house and gave our landlord 30 days notice to leave, which she had said before would be fine. but now she’s saying because a few weeks ago i agreed to an increase in rent that i was agreeing to a new year lease term. whether or not that holds up, the building isn’t up to code anyway. there’s mold in every room, the walls and ceilings are collapsing, the lights flicker and turn off and on so the wiring is clearly faulty but we don’t have access to our breaker box because it’s in another persons unit (not up to code), we’re first floor and none of our windows lock (not up to code), etc. i’ve documented everything and tried to be nice and ask if we can just pay out of our lease or sublet or literally anything to get out and she just won’t respond. she lives in california and hasn’t completed a single maintenance task since we moved in. i doubt she’s seen the place in years or knows the extent of the problem. i’m not sure how much time to give her before i flat out say im going to report this place to the building department and hold my rent in escrow or something. what would you do in this situation? should we just sign for the new place anyway, get out of here and figure it out later? does anyone have experience with escrow or reporting a hazardous apartment? tia

What is the point of having a registry and preventing certain individuals from living or being within so many feet of a school if when I call the county sheriff department, just to be transferred or told to call 5 different numbers just to be told "we dont really enforce that".

Vibrations in ST Marys Ohio

I may sound crazy but I've been feeling vibrations and low frequency sounds on par with what I assume is drilling activity in Saint Marys Ohio.

It's disrupting my sleep and is making me think I have tremors when its really the bed vibrating subtly from an external source.

Has anyone else experienced this?

In a small western Ohio city, Haitian residents prepare for an uncertain future

It wasn’t easy for one Lima resident to leave behind his life as a high school English teacher in Haiti. But he says the gang violence he witnessed left him with no choice but to flee in 2021.

Since then, he’s worked hard to make Lima feel like home for his family of four.

By living a new life in a new country, I told myself I'm a learner. When I'm fighting, either I learn or I win. I never lose.”

He's living legally in Lima under Temporary Protected Status — a federal designation that allows vetted people from certain countries to live and work legally in the U.S. when it's considered unsafe for them to return home, due to armed conflict, natural disaster or other extraordinary conditions.

The Trump administration has argued conditions have improved in Haiti and has taken steps to revoke the country’s TPS status. It’s not clear when protections will expire, as legal details are still being hammered out following the U.S. Supreme Court's decision to allow the administration to end TPS for both Haiti and Syria.

I can easily start this out with The Dead Boys who started out of Cleveland in 1975. Young, Loud and Snotty is one of the best albums of all time.

Add the Air Quality Index to Emergency Alerts

During the recent wildfire smoke that rolled into Ohio, the air was thick and hazardous but most people outside had no idea. While someone struggled to manage their breathing indoors, they watched neighbors casually walking down the street, completely unaware they were breathing in dangerous air. This is a real public health crisis. According to the American Lung Association, nearly 156 million Americans are exposed to unhealthy air pollution levels. For people with asthma, children, and the elderly, this isn't just uncomfortable—it can trigger attacks, cause heart problems, or worse. I started a petition asking FEMA to add Air Quality Index alerts to the Emergency Message System—the same way we get storm warnings or Amber Alerts. It's simple: when air gets hazardous, people get notified. They can then make real choices—stay inside, wear a mask, protect their kids—instead of walking blind into danger. Has anyone else noticed how air quality warnings just... don't reach people? If this matters to you too, consider signing and sharing.

Columbus Bar Recommendations

Hey everyone! I’ll be visiting Columbus next month during Ohio State’s first week back and wanted to check out the college bar scene. I’ll be in town Monday through Wednesday, so I know it’s not the biggest party nights.

What are the best college bars around OSU that you’d recommend? Are there any that are still pretty busy on Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday, or have good drink specials those nights? I’m looking for the classic college bar atmosphere and any must-visit spots. Thanks!

The demolition of five buildings in Gahanna's Creekside district was completed this month to make way for a $100 million mixed-use development. The first phase includes two seven-story buildings with 263 apartments, a 55–70-room hotel, two restaurants, and a parking garage.
