This year our event is a TEACH-IN. WE will cover our continuing struggle over Voting Rights, Due Process and The Rule of Law. Presentations will provide contexts, impacts and implications for our democracy. There will be in depth Q&A and small group strategy sessions.

I would like to know if i have a chance for a good scholarship opportunity as I can't really go without scholarship

So i took a semester CCP Chem class in Highschool and when I went to schedule my miami classes I got talked into taking their version of the class. Which woukd mean the credits I got from my highschool ccp class wouldn't count. Did I mess up? Is this something everyone does? Because im sitting and thinking why did I do that lol

I am an incoming freshmen. I am coming in as a sophomore status possibly junior after I finish my summer classes. I am a Biology major and will possibly do a double major or a minor. I am currently registered for 15 credits. Two of the classes are Honors Chemistry and What are Conspiracies Theories which is a honors class. Should I not take 2 honors classes in 1 semester? I am also registered for Fundamentals of Ecology which is a writing class. Has anyone taken either Conspiracy theories or Ecology? If so, how much is the writing? Can I do both? Thanks

Hi! I'm an incoming freshman who has to take Psych 111 and 112 for my major. I got credit for psych 111 from AP but am pretty sure I still need to take psych 112. I looked and it seems that all the classes are online. What was your experience with this class. I already have a pretty packed schedule (16 credit hrs) but I would like to finish off all my psych stuff while it's fresh. Would love some advice thankyou 💗!

I’m admitted to explanatory studies at Miami for 2026 through the pathway program but I’ve wanted to choose nursing as my major which I can’t do anymore because it has to be direct admission. Hi! I am an incoming freshman, and I have been put into Clawson Hall. I’ve done a lot of research and stuff on it, but I haven’t seen any real students opinions. There have been past posts on this page for Clawson, but theres really no replies or theyre very dated. Anyone have information on Clawson or the area?

My incoming son got assigned to a quad in McKee Hall. I’m so disappointed for him. The dorm is old and small, on the far west side of campus, no air conditioning or other amenities while I’m seeing other freshman dorms with air conditioning, pool tables and ping pong tables. Trying not be positive for him but it really does seem like a stinker. Am I missing the plus sides?

I just wanted to know if anybody else has experienced anything similar. I am on a scholarship from Miami that is supposed to fully cover any fees that don’t get covered by other grants and scholarships. When I went to look at my Fall 2026 bill, it said my billing account was in the negative. I looked it up and from what I understand, that’s actually extremely beneficial for me and means I’m getting the negative amount refunded to me. Is that correct?

I see Miami is replacing the existing Miami Plan (which started only in 2023) with this new MILE plan. There are limited details available, but it appears that the main changes are:

Drops the PA4 - Global Citizenship 9 credit hours

Adds a new Civic Literacy requirement of 3 credit hours. This is the class required by SB1 and I think dropping the PA4 is also in response to SB1.

Drops the Signature Inquiries 9 credits; but kept the Capstone 3 credits

Adds a new Applied Skills Courses 9 credits - no idea what that will entail but it states that those credits can be satisfied with an ILC class or to satisfy a major requirement, which seems to suggest you might not need to take any additional classes to satisfy this.

My kid is 2025 student and will graduate in 2029 and this states it affects only new students for 2027. He was going to talk to his counselors about the change. How did Miami manage the transitions to the new plan before? Did they allow existing students to opt in for the new plan even if it starts after them?

For my kid, this would alleviate at least three and maybe four "gen ed" classes that he really doesn't have time to take. He is already a dual major, plus pre-med, plus working, plus wanted to do a J-Term study abroad. That doesn't work under the current Miami Plan, but it might under the new plan depending on the details.

Here is the plan outline:

MILE’s Integrated Learning Core (ILC) includes the following components:

• ILC 1: Formal Reasoning and Communication (6 hours) (existing PA1)
• ILC 2: Science and Society (12-plus hours) (existing PA2)
• ILC 3: Arts and Humanities (6 hours) (existing PA3)
• ILC 4: Civic Literacy (3 hours) (new SB1 requirement)

MILE also includes the following Applied Professional Skills requirements:

• Applied Skills Courses (9 hours, can be an ILC or satisfy a major requirement) (appears to replace Signature Inquiries)
• Advanced Writing (3 hours, can satisfy in major) (existing PA1)
• Capstone (3 hours, can satisfy in major) (existing SI Capstone)
