Looking for friends for my boyfriend and I. We are 38 & 39. Into anime, video games, metal, animal lovers. We miss when people actually interacted and did simple things like pizza/movie night.
We are trying diligently to hit up old friends and make new ones, but absolutely everyone is used to just being around their spouse and thats it or they are depressed and convince themselves that nothing will help etc. But I refuse to give up. There have to be like-minded folks out there who appreciate connecting. Thanks in advance for reading. 🤟

Wedding shower places?
I am looking for a queer friendly venue that can host a wedding shower in October. Likely around 25-40 guests.
Looking for a place within 20ish minutes for canton so surrounding areas are okay.
Potentially a place where just eating and sitting are not the main focus. Thank you for any ideas.

Is the area around Gibbs Elementary safe?
I understand crime happens everywhere, and I plan to keep to myself, but is it safe? I have two grade school children, if that makes a difference.

North Canton land swap puts Dogwood Pool at end
Price checking dispensaries around [Akron/Canton/Youngstown] is a nightmare, so I built a free tool that tracks live deals and calculates exact out-the-door tax.
Hey everyone,
Like a lot of people in Northeast Ohio, I got tired of trying to guess what my actual total would be at checkout when browsing local menus. Between varying county sales taxes (Summit vs. Stark vs. Mahoning), the 10% recreational excise tax, and different medical vs. adult-use rules, the math is never straightforward.
To solve my own headache, I built a completely independent, ad-free directory specifically for our area code: 330cannabis.com.
What it does:
Live Scraping: It automatically crawls live daily menus for local spots like gLeaf, Bloom, The Botanist, and Zen Leaf so you can spot actual markdowns and price drops.
Out-the-Door Price Tracker: Every single deal card has an expandable calculator that tells you your exact total down to the penny based on your county (Summit 6.75%, Stark 6.5%, Mahoning 7.5%) and your medical/recreational status. It even factors in veteran/indigent status discounts.
Zero Corporate BS: The "Hero Deals" carousel is purely algorithmic based on the deepest price drops. No corporate sponsorships or pay-to-play placements dictate what shows up as a good deal.
Daily Limit Calculator: On the resources page, you can map your running cart against Ohio's strict possession limits (2.5oz flower / 15,000mg THC) so you don't accidentally try to buy over the legal cap.
I also manually verify and highlight independent local spots (like Ohio Cannabis Company, Culture, and Leaf Relief) so they don’t get completely buried by the massive corporate MSOs.
It's entirely free, requires no login or sign-up to use, and has a strict age gate. If you're in the 330 and trying to save some money or avoid surprises at the register, check it out and let me know what you think! I'm actively updating it and would love any feedback from local users.

Hi everyone, i found a song recently from a band called (faceless) from Canton, and it’s great! However, the rest of their discography is lost sadly. Does anybody have their music? First Time Visitor
Hello,
We are visiting Canton for the first time to attend the HOF ceremony in August. It will be a short trip so we are just planning to do the ceremony, NFL HOF and R&R HOF. Looking for any advice you can give on what to do or what not to do as far as these events are concerned - parking, are other events (parade, etc.) worth attending, best time to visit the HOF museum, things/places to avoid, etc. Any and all advice is much appreciated. Thank you!

concrete pumping for a crawlspace rat slab?
Anyone got recommendations for folks that do concrete pumping? I'm looking to get some quotes for a rat slab (with gravel and vapor barrier) in my dirt floor crawlspace. I'm told it would have to be pumped in through the crawlspace vent.
Ideally would like to get a handful of free quotes since this is just one option I'm looking at as part of a radon mitigation solution.
Donate to Help a Community Hero Recover and Rebuild, organized by Mahoning ValleyDSA
Not sure if this is allowed in the Canton sub, as it is not directly in regard to Canton, but we've been waiting for approval from the Youngstown sub mods (there's like only two of them) so we figured we'd attempt to reach out to communities close to Youngstown. Hopefully this doesn't violate the rules for this sub, and if you can donate or share it would be most appreciated.
Due to the July 5th micro-burst tornado that came though the Mahoning Valley, we have an invaluable member of the community in need of assistance.
During the storm, a huge maple tree across the street from our comrades house was struck by lightning causing it to fall over hitting the transformer and causing an explosion, the tree also hit the service line to their house, yanking the mains, grounding and meter box off the house.
While all this was happening our friend was frantically trying to take shelter with their pets in the basement and the sudden loss of electricity caused them to fall down the steps fracturing their ankle in 3 places requiring hospitalization (possible surgery, waiting on an orthopedic surgeon to review the x-rays).
As a result of this series of unfortunate events, our dear comrade is in need of significant electrical work (new line(s), panel replacement and re-grounding) to restore power to their home with an estimated cost of about $4,000.
They will also be out of work for at least a 6-12 weeks due to the recovery time for the fractures (that's if there is no surgery required) but might be off their feet for longer if the orthopedic surgeon thinks surgery is required.
Our comrade, who works as a source water protection specialist for a non-profit organization and who has helped 20+ communities across the state of Ohio keep their water clean, is a founding member of The Youngstown Food Brigade, a volunteer with Ohio Department of Natural Resources, an environmental advocate who is working to protect our communities from data-centers, is active in community gardening initiatives, and who takes care of their disabled mother is in need of our help.
We're hoping to help defray the costs of the home repair as well as provide additional assistance for their family that has given back so much to our and many other communities.
If you can contribute financially we would greatly appreciate your support, if you cannot, you can still help by forwarding this campaign to others.

Considering Canton
Hello all, I'm a lifelong Oregon resident, the state not the city. I am considering moving my family to the Canton area and in my zillow doomscrolling; houses seem far more affordable in the area than literally any town along I-5. That sounds great! Homes and neighborhoods seem great in pictures but living and seeing are very different.
Any advice for an out of stater from on areas to look at?
Any warnings to offer up?
A lot of Canton reminds me of Oregon just from pictures.
Update: Wow! Such great responses. Truth be told; I expected a lot of the information. "Heyday has come and gone" is a familiar feeling. Oregon State basically has 3 "large" cities so the drug use/unhoused population, rising crime rate in a town/county that isn't getting better fast is well known to me.
For those who are curious; Ohio is the heaviest concentration of Haunted Attractions in the entire U.S. and as a scare actor/prop maker/set designer in that industry (on a seasonal basis) that's my version of Hollywood. It's a strange little dream to find an attraction to work at so my passions are good for more than just having fun.

old empty heating oil drum/tank removal from crawlspace (sitting on dirt floor, not buried)?
I'm looking for someone with appropriate EPA license or whatever that can remove an old oil drum/tank from my crawlspace. I'm not sure the size since it's at the back of the crawlspace and hard to see, but I imagine it would need cut for removal. I believe it to be empty, since that was mentioned on some notes when I bought the house. I would like to get some quotes for this as it is a prerequisite to being able to have the crawlspace encapsulated for radon mitigation.
I'm having a hard time figuring out who to contact for this. A lot of stuff I've found is regarding underground tank removal that requires excavation, and that is not my situation.

Candle Vessels
I have about 24 cases of unused candle vessels that have been in my basement for far to long. Does anyone have any idea of who in the area could use these? I am willing to give them away for free, various sizes and colors.

Big brown bat needs rehabber
Are there any bat rehabbers in the Stark county area that can take on a bat? 🦇
Found the little guy at my horse’s boarding facility late yesterday evening, and I believe I saw a tear in his wing. Clover Field and Stark Parks appear to be closed today in observance of the Fourth of July. I’d really like to get this guy into the hands of an experienced rehabber sooner than later.
