AIQS 130 Local Food Challenges (Fejes) or AIQS 100 Pursuit of Happiness (Sattler)?

Thinking of switching from AIQS 100 to AIQS 130. Someone on here had really great things to say about 130 with Fejes, but her Rate My Professor ratings are horrible, so looking for more input.

Spring '27 Admit Financial Aid Issue.

I’m a Spring 2027 undergraduate admit. My financial aid offer appears in my admission portal, but when I log into My Financial Aid, there are no awards, documents, or options to accept aid. Is this happening to other Spring 2027 admits? For previous spring admits, when did your awards appear, and when were you able to accept loans?

Biol214L/215L or BIOL222L

I’m an incoming freshman at case this fall majoring in statistics on the premed track, and I was wondering which lab people would recommend I take! Is there any significant difference between these labs? Also, would anyone recommend taking a bio and chem lab (with the lecture courses as well) during the same semester? Any help is appreciated!

Kuemerle Biol216

Obviously I've heard bad things. Those who had her, how does she compare to the previous bio professors? I had Bader and Burden-Gulley specifically. I understand the course is content heavy already so obviously it's not easy, but what is the realistic situation of how her class is run? Is it as bad as people present it?

is this too much for my first sem?

course list after today's registration^

For context, I want to pursue a minor in biomolecular engineering, and figured it wouldn't be the worst to take a bio class first year since i'd like to do a few minors. I do have concerns about taking chem and bio at the same time, though.

anth 102 - prof. almeida

chem 111 - prof. meyer

engr 130 - prof. harper

math 121 - prof butler

biol 214 - prof. dilulio

eche 151 - prof. baskaran

From what I saw on RMP, ANTH is an easier course because of prof. almeida, and so ECHE 151. im using anth for breadth. i'm concerned about the biol and chem combo, and would like to hear other students' takes on the schedule. chem i got ap credit for, but wanted to retake for gpa, and i took ap bio snr year and got a 4, though i know it's not the same. i still would like time to join a few campus clubs or work. thx all in advance!

I didn't two of the most important classes for my major as a first year. What now?

I'm a neuroscience major, and this is my first year. The website was glitching for a minute, and within that minute, my bio class + lab and chem class + lab got filled. No other courses are open. What do I do? I did the course request and emailed my advisor. I want to graduate on time. Is there anything more I can do? What is the probability I will get the classes I need?

Incoming international student with a few questions about campus life

Hey everyone!

I'll be joining CWRU this fall and I've been spending way too much time reading this subreddit.

I'm an international student and I'm trying to get a better idea of what everyday life is actually like outside the brochures.

A few things I'm curious about:

• What's something you wish you knew before arriving?

• Best places to study?

• Is campus really walkable during winter?

• What's the social scene actually like?

• Any clubs you'd recommend joining?

Also...if anyone else is starting this semester feel free to say hi! Always happy to meet new people before move-in.

Enrolled Student Incoming Student Fall Courses

Hi, I am an incoming freshman at Case, and I was wondering if these courses for the first semester were fine. Just wanted to do the minimum for now since I want to settle in. These are my courses for next semester.
MATH 125, MGMT 201, ACCT 100, ACCT 106, MGMT 198, and HSTY 100

Maybe I might take Chinese 101, but does anyone have any good recs on teachers or any knowledge of additional breadth courses, or just facts about the classes?

Meal Plan Swipes

edit: one big question. can you order food ahead???? or do you need to order everything in person

Can someone please explain meal swipes and how they work? Like, how do you know what is covered by a swipe, and how do you use one (do you use id card or something else), and is there any way to see how many you have left for the week? Does anyone have any tips or tricks for using the swipes, like which locations have better value for a swipe? Does case western give some docuemnt with all of this information?

Enrolled Student Freshmen classes (biochem)

Post image
1 Upvotes

for some reason my advisor has not been responding to me, but I recently decided I did not want to pursue engineering and I wanted to pursue biochemistry instead. I wanted to ask if any biochem majors here have an idea on what freshman classes to take because I know some specific classes are requirements for others.

here is what I have below (my OG schedule for engineering).

  • AIQS Course
  • MATH 122
  • PHYS 122
  • CHEM 111
  • Elective (I think HTEC 101 or ENGR 130)

if I choose to do biochem I think it’s probable this will change somewhat since I am also planning to go pre-med (so I will need to take the physics course anyways). I have found a schedule back in 2023-2024 for reference by CWRU, but I’m not sure if taking the ones for engineering or the general one would be best. Much thanks to any advice anyone could provide.

Bader vs Dilulio& Gardner for BIOL 214

Is there a big difference between taking biol 214 taught by bader vs dilulio & gardner?

I’m just wondering because I really want to take biol 222l instead of biol 214l, but for me to fit it into my schedule i’d have to switch biol 214 to the section that bader teaches. And I haven’t heard many good things about him 😭

I'm planning on taking the math 122 placement exam during orientation week, and I need to know if there will be a formula sheet for the exam. prof chris butler has equation sheets at the ends of his exams/test reviews?... but the information i've found online about the placement exam formula sheet is confusing. any information would be super helpful!!

Should I drop my class?

I need advice on whether I should drop my precal class bc I currently have 73 in that class. I’m taking summer classes at cwru and I’m not failing but I don’t really like my grade. I don’t want to ruin my gpa. I’m going to start my fall semester off to a bad start. My teacher gave me option to drop that class but I can’t take my final test. But I really want to take the test and I want to see progress in my math. I studied hard and worked my ass off to understand it but my last test something happened and I fucked up my test and got a bad grade. So my final test is my only way to see how much progress I have made. I know u could’ve done better. I don’t know what I should do.

My other class which is seminar, I don’t know my grade but I know I’m not getting an A bc I barely participate which worth 20 percent of our grade. So I’m fucked up.

cog sci vs bio major (both BA) for pre med at case

So i am an incoming freshman at cwru and I start in the spring of 2027 (spring admit) so i sorta loose 1 semester but i have ap credits which help me stay with my graduating class.

I am going pre med and was thinking about switching my major which was bio to cog sci to help me maintain a good gpa. Does anyone know if this is a good idea? would taking my required mcat classes be harder? im trying to not burn myself out before med school.

Cog sci ppl at case who are premed, is the workload managable? and what is the "you have to argue for how the classes are related to the human brain". Im not sure if thats a thing? pls let me know your thoughts.

Pre-med clinical hour opportunities

I will be entering case this fall for pre-med but was thinking about getting certifications beforehand, like medical assistant or phlebotomy, but was wondering if it was worth the high cost ($1,000+). If there are plenty of clinical hour opportunities that don't require certifications, or cheaper alternatives, please let me know!
Additionally, I wanted to ask if any pre-med upperclassmen had any regrets where they wish they did certain things sooner.

My personal essay was about how I came across veganism and how it changed me and those around me.

I had to get knee surgery in 11th so my academic performance dropped slightly.

My family and I were displaced from our house in 2025 due to a feud with our landlord, which caused mental stress for me for sometime.

What are my chances of getting into crwu as an international seeking signifcant fin aid, who is applying Early Decision?
