Sorry its been so long! Im still healing from sugery and other health issues have sprung up/got worse but im happy that I finally had enough energy to finish off the tulipan tee I started right after I finished the white bell sleeve sweater!

I turned the tee into a long sleeve because I like long sleeves better and honestly I think I like it with long sleeves more than the original! Slightly more cropped than I wanted so im tempted to go back and add another inch or so of ribbing but otherwise I think it's perfect :) and so comfy!anyways hoping ill be pack to posting more regularly again soon

I found a video that showed how to k2tog and ssk but in my pattern I also need to p2tog and ssp, I think I understand how to p2tog but I can't figure out how to ssp... Does anyone have a tutorial or something?

Weird question alert!

I've been thinking about getting some interchangeable crochet hooks to use for Tunisian crochet (preferably with 2 hooks per size to work in the round) and wondered if you can get knitting needles that can also be used with the same cables. Is that a thing or do they all have different fittings?

This stems from a random thought I had that you could use a crochet hook on one side of a cable and knitting needle on the other side and then switch the heads between rows to make knitting more like knooking but possibly less fiddly. (My brain works in mysterious ways 😂)

I have been on the hunt for a set of knooks that have eyes instead of the screw-on tunisian ends. I managed to find TWO:

A kit that comes with three aluminum hooks (2.75mm, 4mm, 6mm). Solid, but limited in terms of size.

And a set of bamboo hooks (4-7mm) with eyes and points are a little rough on arrival, but I hit them with some 1000 grit sandpaper and then they’re smooth like butter. BUT I snapped the head off my 6.5mm hook last night (I have since glued it, hopefully it holds).

But I think the winner for durability/size range will end up being a standard aluminum crochet kit with holes drilled through the bases. I just did all of my hooks from 3-6.5mm with a clamp and a drill. Clamped them in and went for it.

Only took a few minutes, and they’re cheap aliexpress hooks, so very low risk. Drilled out a tiny hole (3/64” - 0.5mm) to get it started, went up to (1/16” - 0.625mm), then rounded out the holes without going all the way through (5/64” - 0.728mm). Then hit the edges with a file.

i tried knitting, i can do it but being a crocheter 1st, that's fiddly and difficult to get my hands used to. i can't hold yarn in other hand so i guess i do a reversed? continental? it's weird lol idk what to call it.

but this! this is so much easier! if i have enough of this yarn it will be a tank top for the summer. if nit, a baby blanket ¯_(ツ)_/¯ᵐᵃʸᵇᵉ

Was having some issues figuring out how to translate k2tog and ssk in this one, was going to ask for advice but I ended up just searching the sub and found a lot of helpful answers so thank u 😭. The decreases in this pattern are not perfect but I think it still turned out cute. It's a dishcloth and all so whatever

I'm originally a crocheter and I've recently learned to knook. It has been really fun, but my first garment took so long and it's not even finished ! I've talked to a few people around me who know how to knit and they've all told me that I should've just bought some needle and it would've been easier and faster. I don't think knitting is easier than knooking for a crocheter, but is it faster ?

My dad, when going on vacation saw a baby in a hudsons bay cardigan in the airport and texts me to tell me that I should make one because he thinks it will sell well at a market it have coming up. So at the request of my father: i ordered the yarn and got started.

I used a new (to me) technique, steeking, the yarn i used was not the best choice for it but i double re enforced the steeked edges and its holding strong. Simple. Math to figure out the stripes once I knew gauge :) I have no model but it should fit a 6 month baby

Super new to crochet but I love it! But to be perfectly honest, crochet does not produce the type of clothing I want to create. But knitting is truly one of the dark arts! I am trying to master the knit stitch and it falls apart. I fear it the way I fear war, pestilence, plague and poverty! Will knooking produce sweaters and projects that look like knitting? Should I still try to learn knitting? Is there no hope for me, a humble crochet-lover?

Hello! I just learned about knooking, and as a crocheter trying to learn to knit I'm super curious about it! I was wondering, do you generally prefer knooking or knitting? Which do you find easier? I'm mostly interested in amigurumi/3D objects, blankets, and maybe one day clothes. Curious if knooking or knitting is easier for any of these in your opinion?

Store bought knooks (what brand?), crochet hooks with something taped at the end, interchangeable tunisian hooks? I've been using a crochet hook with normal yarn taped on at the end but am finding it a bit flimsy, wondering if it's worth going for a tunisian hook or trying ribbon.

Just finished my first knooking project! The Sophie Hood (M) by PetiteKnit, in Alpakka Ull from Sandnes Garn! (one of the yarns recommended in the pattern) I used a 5mm knook as per pattern.

It was fun… with a slightly chaotic and mildly humbling start, but we got there. And somehow I’m already making a second one, finished a pair of sailor slippers and started a sweater! I am so happy to have figured it out with some help of course.

Hey all, a new knooker here who has mainly been working in crochet. I learned to knit and crochet in a fibers class 20 years ago and mainly focused on knitting until I put it all down for years. Well I started crocheting again 2ish years ago and went crazy, one of the things I loved was how easy and fun it was to make lace designs in crochet. Since I started knooking, the knit lace designs I struggled with on needles are so much easier and more forgiving to learn. This is the second dishcloth I knooked, the first one was moss stitch and basket stitch, and this one is a fishtail lace pattern. Just wanted to say thank you to everyone here who has compiled these resources to help!

Hi, this is probably obvious but I don't recall seeing it in videos.

When working in the round when you hook is full, instead of unloading everything I leave some 3-4 stitches on the hook. I feel like this way I get much better tension.

If I unload everything I need to fiddle the fabric to make them go away.

I just starting looking after being a causal crocheter for years. So far I made a headband and I’d like to try something more more difficult and make a top.

I’m following a knitting pattern and I’m confused about how to use stitch markers.

Pattern says “k16 (17, 18, 19, 20) (20, 20, 21, 22) sts, PM, k1, PM, (back right half when wearing”

When crocheting I would put my marker directly on the stitch. Do I also do that when I’m knooking (so on stitch #16 and #17 if I’m making the smallest size)? Or are stitch markers meant to be in between stitches l because the pattern goes on to say this later.

Round 2: Step 1 (RS): k to the next marker, M1R, SM, k1, SM, M1L, repeat between - once more, k2, turn. (4 sts increased)

Step 2 (WS): sl1pwyif, pull, p to your BOR marker, slip BOR marker, p to the next marker, M1LP, SM, p1, SM, M1RP , repeat between - once more, p2, turn. (4 sts increased)

Which I honestly don’t understand at all.

My first knooked item! Definitely not flawless. I had a lot of issues with the short rows as the wrap and turn method didn't exactly worked out with knooking, so if you have any tips let me know! Pattern: The one that I want by Kate Paris Yarn: lana grossa Cantone
