Im many hours in with many hours to go but im feeling pretty pleased with my progress

I did this based off of a photo a photographer took of me in their studio. My first time doing the turkey stitch. I was so nervous and ended up really loving it.

Hey weirdos! Currently working on this piece and I cannot decide what to do with the letters. I want this piece to be fun and eye catching! Definitely not afraid of color in this piece.

-Should I do a satin stitch with a high contrasting color?
-should I use brick stitch?
-long and short?

Can I please get some critique on my first thread painting attempt? I've taken some liberties with colours (I didn't want to buy more floss for essentially a test piece) and shading (the book version looked flat?) But other than that I think I followed the instructions okay.

Would just like some feedback from someone who knows what they're doing! And any pointers of how I could improve. No one I know IRL embroiders!

The Moss Collector (The Gentle One)
One of the Hollow Folk. Where others see fallen leaves, broken feathers, forgotten buttons, and scraps of moss, the Collector sees memories worth keeping. Nothing abandoned by the forest is ever truly lost while they are near.

This is an original character from a world I have imagined. Each piece in the series is created using mixed media and sculptural embroidery, with layers of padding stitched beneath the fabric to create a three-dimensional form. Rather than simply decorating the surface, the embroidery becomes part of each character’s anatomy and identity.

I hand stitched this mask during June 2020 and would hate to get rid of it since I like it… but I don’t know what to actually do with it? I don’t plan to wear it ever again. The pieces feel a little awkwardly shaped to repurpose. Any ideas?

Finally completed the Heartstopper Hoop I have been working on!

First completely hand designed/stitched project, finished for a friend and fan of the Office. Cactus Blossoms in the foreground.

I haven't been around for a while or had time to do embroidery because of medical tests and getting used to new meds for my mental and physical health. My new embroidery is expressing my sorrow for a life I feel like I haven't lived and scared I'll never achieve what I've wanted.

A gift for my friend who has 2 cats i am making the second one right now!

I love making collages/zines so once I found junk embroidery I knew it was for me!

I ordered a "portrait" from poorly drawn pets. Loved it so much I put it on a sweatshirt. Should I add their names?

Finally taking the leap and learning tambour beading!

It's so satisfying and I really love it, it's so much fun and I find the challenge and consistent motions to be soothing.

Got the first one on a whim to keep my hands busy while going through early stages of alcohol recovery. Now I'm onto my third project and everyone is getting something for their birthday/Christmas this year.

I embroidered the table numbers for my sister’s wedding!

We were originally inspired by another post on Reddit last year. (I never saved the exact post so I’m not sure which one it was, but it would probably show up amongst other search results.) I got the number designs from Momentoell on Etsy, and we also bought the “Made with Love” hoop backings on Etsy (although my sister ordered those, so I am not sure who the seller was).

I played with using a water soluble pen vs transfer pencil paper to get the design on the fabric. On the 9 and 1 photos, you can see how they looked before I dissolved the pen/covered up the pencil transfer. Definitely pros and cons to each. I think I prefer them to stick and stitch stabilizers though.

I also used wood staining pens to stain the bamboo hoops so that they would be more in line with the wedding color scheme/vibe. Then I used string and ornament hangers to display them on the table, with yellow ribbon to cover up the hoop hardware.

I definitely did not anticipate the time commitment when starting this project — and then my sister asked for two of each number, so that they would have one facing out on either side of the table! 😵‍💫 For a few months of my life, every second of free time was spent making these so that they’d be ready on time lol

My sister said she’s going to save them and use them when they have kids one day for those pictures that people take in the first year (1 month, 2 month, month, etc.) They only had 9 tables at the wedding though, so at some point I’ll need to make them 3 more for months 10, 11 and 12 — but not for a while, at least!

I thought id share the new stitch outs after ive made adjustments.

1.increased gradient percentage of the secondary gradient color and rotated it clockwise roughly 20°

1. Added 1.5mm border

3.changed out the black for purple.

Enjoying the brighter colors, I used a lavender as the secondary for the yellow ring pop. The yellow completely nullified it. So it mostly looks yellow which wasn't the intention.

What do you think? What color combos should I try next?

The eyes, bow and right ear. It looks so wonky. I'm using just 2 strands.
