Title. After 40+ years, the owner no longer wants to maintain the business and is shutting their doors on July 31st. I'm devastated because I love going and just perusing, but more than anything, I loved having ongoing stories to read. I have one last book to pick up on the 27th, but I'm going to have a very hard time reading it, not only because I'll never go back but because it's the start of a story and I'll have no way to keep reading it. So, I guess I'm asking how do I get comics anymore? Is there a service I can sign up for that sends them to my house? How do people without a LCS get comics? I know there's the option of kindle but I love the feel of going to the store and holding them in my hands, it just wouldn't be the same. Can anyone help?

Hello! This isn't my normal subreddit, but I'm looking for some good recommendations and figured this would be a good place to start. I'm an English teacher looking to add more comics/graphic novels/manga to my classroom library for my students who are reluctant readers. The thing is, I'm having a hard time figuring out where to start. I want to make sure that the materials are appropriate for 10th graders (15-16 year olds) and it's hard to do when I'm a newbie to comics and graphic novels myself (not as much manga; I read a lot of these in middle and high school). Any ideas and suggestions? Any help is appreciated!

any (semi) recent series that isn't necessarily a humor comic but one that makes you laugh?

some Rosenberg books come to mind but I'm wondering what I might be missing out on for regular comic relief.

I am gonna start reading Sex Criminals, the premise alone seems silly enough not to have some solid jokes sprinkled in.

I received a gift recently for the Absolute Edition of Mister Miracle by Tom King and loved it. Not only did I love the story/art, but I am beyond smitten with the hardcover, absolute format. I’m not made of money but am looking to get another absolute edition here and was curious which more veteran comic readers than myself might consider to be “worth it”.

I’m semi over the hill age wise, but am newer to comics. Besides that Mister Miracle miniseries, I have really only read The Dark Knight Returns, Killing Joke, Batman Year 1, Saga of Swamp Thing, Watchmen, and V for Vendetta over the last few months. Regarding available absolute editions and even maybe deluxe hardcovers, which would be a worthwhile purchase for myself next? Kind of sticking with DC at the moment and I am strongly considering Court Of Owls, Kingdom Come, and Superman Red Son. I am open to any suggestions from more seasoned readers/fans. I’d like to start reading Silver Surfer. I already know the basic backstory: Norrin Radd became Galactus’ herald to save his home planet, but after coming to Earth and meeting the Fantastic Four, he turned against Galactus and wanted to stop him.
Do you think Silver Surfer: Black is a good place to start, or would you recommend reading something else first?

Ive read berserk #1-3 and spawn deadly tales of the gunslinger volume 1. Not a comic, but i also love Book of the New Sun by Gene wolfe if that helps at all to gauge what interests me.

Looking for dark fantasy/ sci fi
good artwork like berserk and spawn gunslinger
more prose? (i dont know how common it is for comics or graphic novels to incorporate heavy prose but I think thatd be neat if theres anything like it.)
would prefer none or atleast tasteful nudity/sexual content. i didnt much like some of the stuff in berserk.

I applied today, I’m just wondering if it’s gonna be days weeks months or years. I’m interested in Image titles, and my library limits Hoopla to 4 titles a month (lasted me about six hours). With Global Comics ending image titles in a few days, I’m wondering how I can finish reading the Brubaker titles. Thanks
