Title. After 40+ years, the owner no longer wants to maintain the business and is shutting their doors on July 31st. I'm devastated because I love going and just perusing, but more than anything, I loved having ongoing stories to read. I have one last book to pick up on the 27th, but I'm going to have a very hard time reading it, not only because I'll never go back but because it's the start of a story and I'll have no way to keep reading it. So, I guess I'm asking how do I get comics anymore? Is there a service I can sign up for that sends them to my house? How do people without a LCS get comics? I know there's the option of kindle but I love the feel of going to the store and holding them in my hands, it just wouldn't be the same. Can anyone help?

My best friend was helping his now ex girl friend move a while back. She inherited this from a boyfriend previous to him. All she knew was he got it at a con. I’ve tried reverse google searching who bw is but have come up with nothing. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Batman’s greatest enemy isn’t the Joker, it’s Netflix, HBO Max, and Disney+. While those streaming giants might not be robbing Gotham National Bank, the changing entertainment landscape has forced comic book writers to rethink how they tell stories. Scott Snyder, the writer behind the mega-hit Absolute Batman, has given a lot of thought to what makes comics special, and how streaming services are antithetical to the medium.

“I realized that we’re the only format that makes you wait a month and pay for every single episode,” Scott Snyder says during a recent appearance on AIPT Comics Podcast. “Every single issue, you’ve got to pay essentially the price of a third of a streaming platform for a month. So that’s like three comics. You can get thousands of stories for the price of three comics. We have to deliver. You have to embrace some of the things that make our medium extra fun.”

Snyder clarifies that streaming services aren’t bad, and he’s enjoyed his fair share of them. However, as much as he loves streaming, he feels it’s become somewhat of an enemy to the comic book industry.

“So many of us are immersed in streaming all the time, and streaming to me is actually like the enemy of comics. I love streaming, don’t’ get me wrong, and I have plenty of shows that I love that are streaming.”

Hello! This isn't my normal subreddit, but I'm looking for some good recommendations and figured this would be a good place to start. I'm an English teacher looking to add more comics/graphic novels/manga to my classroom library for my students who are reluctant readers. The thing is, I'm having a hard time figuring out where to start. I want to make sure that the materials are appropriate for 10th graders (15-16 year olds) and it's hard to do when I'm a newbie to comics and graphic novels myself (not as much manga; I read a lot of these in middle and high school). Any ideas and suggestions? Any help is appreciated!

I’ve only recently gotten into comic books and I’m looking to start collecting them. I mainly collect comics with covers that I find visually appealing, as well as comics featuring my favorite characters.
I live in Europe, and I’ve noticed that whenever I try to buy comics from eBay or online comic book stores, the shipping cost is almost always over €15.
For example, if I buy three comics, I end up paying around the price of three more comics just for shipping. Is that normal for buying comics in Europe, or does that seem unusually expensive?
I’m just curious if this is the standard experience or if I should be looking at different stores. Thanks!

I received a gift recently for the Absolute Edition of Mister Miracle by Tom King and loved it. Not only did I love the story/art, but I am beyond smitten with the hardcover, absolute format. I’m not made of money but am looking to get another absolute edition here and was curious which more veteran comic readers than myself might consider to be “worth it”.

I’m semi over the hill age wise, but am newer to comics. Besides that Mister Miracle miniseries, I have really only read The Dark Knight Returns, Killing Joke, Batman Year 1, Saga of Swamp Thing, Watchmen, and V for Vendetta over the last few months. Regarding available absolute editions and even maybe deluxe hardcovers, which would be a worthwhile purchase for myself next? Kind of sticking with DC at the moment and I am strongly considering Court Of Owls, Kingdom Come, and Superman Red Son. I am open to any suggestions from more seasoned readers/fans. Thanks in advance.
