Double the limit: Vermont bets bigger cannabis buys will beat the black market - Vermonters can now buy twice the amount of cannabis in a single day, after the state doubled the legal purchase limit to 2 ounces.

Is it just me or have there been a lot more windy days than usual?

I feel like this summer and the last have been exceptionally windy. I could also very easily be perceiving things differently since I haven't been as couped up as I was in previous years.

Edit: for perspective, we live about 2 miles from St. Albans Bay.

Franklin County Adaptive Clothing Donation

I've got 5 shirts that I purchased for my shoulder surgery that have snaps down the sides and arms that allow for easy donning by someone without mobility. All but one completely comes apart into the front and back halves, the other just snaps across the shoulders and the top of the arm. I also have a set of white tank undershirts that I've added snaps to the shoulders, so it can be put on without having to raise the arms.

They're all "women's" patterns: florals and pastels. One is short sleeved, the others are 3/4 sleeves. They are about a US Womens 2XL, they were ordered on Amazon, so they say 3XL, but they fit like a Womens 2XL. The tanks are men's 2XL, so they're a bit long, but work well as an undershirt. I also have a knee length house dress with pockets, advertised as a hospital gown and used as a night shirt. It also has snaps down the arms and sides. They're all clean, freshly washed with no scent, and have no stains or tears. I only needed them for about a month.

I imagine it'd they'd be great for someone in a hospital bed or wheelchair with limited arm mobility, but I don't have any experience with either, so apologies if I get it wrong.

I don't need them any more, and I'd like to donate them to somewhere that can get the adaptive clothing to someone who needs it but can't afford it.

If anyone knows of an organization that can help me get these to someone who needs them, I'd appreciate it. I emailed the State Department of Disabilities, Aging and Independent Living, and haven't heard anything.

I'd prefer to keep them in-state, Franklin County even better, and Goodwill is not an option.

All Fidium services down?

Internet suddenly went out without warning 10 minutes ago.

I called customer support and got a message about scheduled maintenance and "all Internet services" in Vermont being disrupted.

Anyone else in a lurch?

Dang, Vermont businesses are already suffering from the tension with Canada. It’s just going to get much worse, especially for businesses near the border.

Windham County Sewing/Quilting Groups in Southern VT

Hi all, like the title says I am in search of a sewing/quilting group in Southern VT- it'd be nice to get out of the house and meet fellow fiber arts enthusiasts. It seems like unfortunately the Twin State Modern Quilting Guild is no longer active (no recent posts to social media, no response to email inquiries). Any suggestions? TIA!

Dentist recommendations for northern Vermont?

Upvotes

I live in NH but I’m planning on moving to the Burlington/waterbury area in the next year or so. Wondering if you guys have any dentists you’d recommend in the area. Especially looking for someone who can see me in the late fall and has flexible payment options for those without insurance.

For context I’m in my early 30’s, dont need any major work done, just routine cleanings and checkups

Chittenden County UVMMC Outpatient Surgery Wait Times

Upvotes

I was seen at the UVMMC Emergency Room for a gallbladder attack on Saturday. They offered to remove it that day, but we ultimately came to the decision that I was stable enough to go home and schedule an outpatient surgery. I have my consultation tomorrow, but I am curious if anyone knows how far out they’re scheduling gallbladder removal surgeries at UVMMC.

The Worlds Between Us: A Tale of Vermont Magic and Horror

Thumbnail kickstarter.com
Upvotes

My friend Blair is running a Kickstarter for his graphic novel, The World's Between Us, a horror fantasy set in his hometown of Fairlee, VT.

I've been debating about whether to post this, I know that it can be a pain if subreddits get filled up with everyone's random Kickstarters, but Blair is a good friend of mine and could use some more support on this. I've read the first few chapters and he does capture small town Vermont life well, and the few chapters I've read have left me interested in reading more.

There's only about 20 hours left in the Kickstarter, so if this looks at all interesting, or you just want to support local artists, be sure to back it soon.

He's finished writing and illustrating it, so all that remains is a print run, and the Kickstarter is fully funded so it should definitely happen. But more backers are always better, he could really use some more to be able to have enough to help support doing a second volume and continuing.

Mods: I understand if this is too promotional. I don't make any money from this, Blair is just a friend of mine who I'd like to see succeed.

Hair stylists that specialize in highlights?

My hair stylist is taking a break from doing hair and I need to find someone new. I have highlighted very light blonde hair. Willing to drive an hour within Montpelier, and also willing to pay for top quality work. If you have great highlights, I want to hear from you! Thank you!

Lt Gov: Only Esther Will tax millionaires

I’m listening to VPR and the lieutenant governor debate is on. I think it’s telling that of the three candidates, Charlestin, Gray and McLaren, the only candidate the definitively said yes to taxing people earning $500K+ is Esther Charlestin. Gray said to do something with the Trump tax cut and McLaren said instead we should tax Palantir’s CEO who has property in Vermont. It’s clear that only one candidate wants to hold the rich in Vermont accountable.

Thoughts?

Chittenden County Looking For Private Acreage to Walk Dogs On

Upvotes

Hello, I am a dog walker looking for private land to walk dogs on. I offer dog camp for small groups of dogs. I am very respectful of the land we walk on and always pick up after the dogs, as well as other litter we find.

I am looking in the Jericho, Richmond, Essex, Williston, Waterbury, Bolton, Hinesburg, and Huntington areas, I would consider other towns in that general area.

50+ acres of open or partly open land like farmland or a big field we could walk around and the dogs could play in is ideal, but forest could potentially work too. A water source is essential, especially in the summer!

Thank you for your consideration. Please feel free to message me for more information or you have it know of land that could be a good fit.
