Hi, I’m a local Cleveland photographer and I have a client who’s looking to do a shoot in a sort of abandoned church type setting.

All the information I’ve googled about churches in the area is either outdated or doesn’t really explain if they’re easily accessible / safe (as far as an abandoned property can be safe) and I can’t just go driving around the city checking all the potential places for locked doors.

Does anyone with any urbex knowledge or any more adventurous photographers know if anything? If you have to DM me too that’s fine - we will definitely be respectful of the space and just want to use the vibes for a shoot.

I've narrowed down to moving to either downtown or little italy. I will be taking the HealthLine to work at late night and not bringing a car. With my budget ($700-$1000) I am looking at either a studio or sharing a 2b2b with a roommate.

Here's what I gathered from each. Please correct me if I'm wrong:

Downtown:

+: closest to HealthLine, modern apartments with AC and other amenities, city living, sport events, younger people

-: panhandlers and homeless, might be less safe at night?, wind tunnel, no groceries and retail

Little Italy:

+: cheaper rent overall, many students and working professionals in the area, restaurants and more groceries on this side of town, safer area, somewhat close to the HealthLine

-: more rundown apartments (lacking a/c heating etc), some racism towards POC

Which is better? My priorities are safety and being in close proximity to the HealthLine.

hello all! been a cleveland sports fan my whole life and i actually moved very close to the city (lakewood) and it’s a 10 minute drive to progressive field, huntington field, and the rocket arena. what’s the best way to go about buying tickets? i’m assuming buying in person would be cheaper? and are tickets usually cheaper right before the game as well? i’ve usually always bought tickets from seatgeek/stubhub but if im close enough to buy them in person and avoid fees and possibly have them be even cheaper, i’d rather do that.

Something affordable and helpful. I really want to learn.

On Thursday, July 16, the Cleveland Air Quality Index reached at least 681, well pass the 300 hazardous level. See the hazardous level for Cleveland on this NBC Nightly News map (far right side) on 7/16 at the 10:20 time. When I saw that I was shocked, as the AirNow.gov Maroon hazardous level begins at an AQI of 300.

Cleveland.com also did an article on the event, reporting the air quality reaching 594 at 3 p.m., after passing into the hazardous category by noon Thursday.

Hazardous is the highest of the AQI’s six categories. At that level, the entire population is more likely to experience health effects and should stay indoors and keep activity levels low, according to AirNow.gov....

Be alert to repeated wildfire smoke levels through August, according to Accuweather, even though levels are low today:

Canada wildfire smoke to be a periodic problem into August across Midwest, Northeast: Prevailing winds will direct more wildfire smoke from western Ontario into the Midwest and Northeast often well into August. Needed rain to put out the fires may be scarce.

There are 901 active wildfires in Canada, according to the Canadian Wildland Fire Information System. To date this year, there have been 3,951 fires that have burned 3 million hectares [7.41 million acres].

"...So far this year, 40,771 fires have burned more than 3.9 million acres across the United States," according to the (U.S.) National Interagency Fire Center newsroom. "Fires in the Northwest and the fires in northern Minnesota pose the greatest demand for firefighting resources. Resource assignments are being prioritized based on life and property risk, operational impact, and probability of success."

Many of the fires are burning in remote, hard-to-combat, unreachable areas, which then rely on wet weather to extinguish them. Where feasible, aircraft and ground crews work feverishly to safeguard communities from the flames.

Sometimes containment efforts work, but most attempts only slow the progress of the fires enough to allow people in the path to evacuate. Insect infestations (Spruce Budworm, Emerald Ash Borer and Mountain Pine Beetle) and drought have damaged or killed scores of trees, which then become potential fuel during droughts, lightning activity and when humans create ignition sources. Resins from certain trees and brush can accelerate fire ignition and spread.

Smoke is a product of fires, and its density depends on available fuels. Certain types of evergreen and deciduous foliage can emit much more smoke than simple grassland fires.

Winds fan the flames and carry smoke for hundreds and thousands of miles. I doubt if you'll find any discussion like this on many Senator websites, certainly not on Ohio's Republican Senators websites who support President Trump's efforts to promote fossil fuel consumption, and not even on Democratic Senate candidate Sherrod Brown's websites. I've never heard or read a detailed explanation from Brown about why climate change should be a major political issue in the U.S.

Hey all,

I’m looking for an outdoor 400m track that’s definitely open to the public this Friday in the early afternoon.

A friend needs to complete a fitness test, and I’ll be administering it, so we need a track where we can do sprint repeats without worrying about getting interrupted.

I’m willing to drive anywhere from roughly:

West: Westlake
East: Beachwood
South: Hudson
North: Downtown Cleveland

The biggest thing is that I need to know with certainty that:

1- The track will actually be open on a Friday afternoon (not “sometimes it’s unlocked”).

2-The public is allowed to use it, so we won’t be asked to leave in the middle of the test.

If there aren’t any reliable outdoor options, I’d also appreciate recommendations for indoor tracks that offer day passes.

Thinking of last min getting tickets to Zeds Dead this Friday and travel in from Michigan. Hotels are pricey, so thinking of sleeping in my car.

What parking locations would you recommend to stay overnight in that are near / in uber distance to Jacobs Pavilion? And reasonably safe?

Hi everyone so exactly as it says in the title I reach CLE through the Amtrak at 4am. My building manager will only be in the building at 9am and is understandably reluctant to keep the keys anywhere else.

What do I do from 4am to 9am? I will have two suitcases with me. I am a woman and will be alone so I am a little worried about the safety aspect as well.

Added context: The building I am meeting them at is an apartment building downtown where I will be staying, so would want to be around that area

Any recommendations on most affordable vets for getting a dog dental done? Willing to travel up to an hour from downtown CLE.

I do a lot of creative and nerdy stuff like cosplay, game development, etc. and I think it would be a great way to meet friends who do the same while also working on stuff together and helping each other but I have no idea where to start or how to go about that. I tried looking for groups, especially a cosplay group but couldn't find much.

I go to conventions but I find it difficult to make friends while at a con cuz there's so much going on, plus it would be fun to go to a con with fellow cosplay friends instead of alone. Also I think it is time to go back to making friends IRL instead of just doom scrolling and looking at people who have no idea you exist.
