I had an at-home ultrasound today from one of those "do it in your house" services. I had it because I wanted to check in on the status of the baby - I am feeling so anxious. I am 6w 5d today (I actually think I ovulated early, so closer to 7 weeks). She said that my sac was only measuring 4 weeks and she couldn't see anything else. This was an abdominal ultrasound. Should I be concerned about the outcome of todays scan? The ultrasound tech sounded concerned.

I called my OB group and they basically said these things can't be trusted, and to come in at 8 weeks again. They offered to test my betas/HCG to see if rising. Has anybody ever had this and went on to have a successful pregnancy?

Hello community, as the title says I had an 8 week 2 day ultrasound and baby measured on track and had a good heart rate.

It wasn’t until after I left and looking more closely at the pictures I realized the baby didn’t appear to have any limb nubs poking out. Googling other 8 week ultrasound pictures you can clearly see the nubs.

Did anyone else have an 8 week ultrasound that looked like this?

Hi all! I’m 8 w 6 d pregnant and I was wondering what thoughts were on a boutique ultrasound? I haven’t had any scans or anything to confirm viability, they can’t get me in till August 3rd for one through my doctor. I am hesitant to go to one due to the fact that I’m plus size and concerned about them not being able to see anything on an abdominal ultrasound.

Hi! I was wondering when you ovulated after a CP? I usually ovulate CD 16-19. I got my positive / peak OPK yesterday and today on CD 21-22. That’s late for me. Is that normal in your experience? Did anyone get pregnant after a chemical pregnant and ovulating late?

Sharing a difficult update.

Today we found out our IVF pregnancy was not viable. After transferring our one euploid embryo and holding onto so much hope, we learned it was a blighted ovum. I’ll be having a D&C tomorrow.

I’d love to hear from anyone who has gone through a D&C — what should I expect? Also, our doctor mentioned possibly trying injectables (like Menopur) with IUI as our next step since we don’t have any embryos remaining. If you’ve been through injectable IUI or a similar journey, I’d really appreciate hearing your story.

I’m looking to see if anyone has experienced something similar, especially after IVF.

I had a fully euploid Day 6 embryo transferred. My initial beta was **52.01 mIU/mL**, but shortly after I started bleeding. I had what appears to have been a miscarriage with bright red bleeding, clots/tissue, and period-like cramping.

Since then, my hCG levels have been:

6/30 Initial beta: **52.01**
7/2 Two days later: **130**

7/10: **1,073**
7/10: Ultrasound: No gestational sack visible
**7/13: 234.3 (this result may be questionable because the Roche analyzer was reportedly having issues that day)**

7/21: **841.7**

I’ve also had:

\- Bright red bleeding followed by brown spotting.
\- Spotting stopped for a couple of days, then bright red bleeding started again.
\- Mild period-like cramping throughout.
\- Occasional mild right-sided discomfort, but never severe or sharp one-sided pain.
\- I’ve had an ultrasound, but nothing definitive was seen.

My understanding is that with an hCG around 841, it may still be too early to reliably see an intrauterine pregnancy or even a small ectopic pregnancy.

I’m struggling because I know bleeding can happen in viable pregnancies, and I’ve also read about vanishing twin syndrome, delayed implantation, and ectopic pregnancies after IVF. I also know a falling hCG is generally considered a very poor sign.

My biggest concern is that my doctors have mentioned methotrexate if they become concerned about an ectopic pregnancy, but I’m terrified of taking it if there is any possibility, however small, of a viable pregnancy.

I know none of you can diagnose me, but I’m hoping to hear from people who have had similar experiences.

My questions are:
\- Has anyone had hCG fall like this and still end up with a viable pregnancy?
\- Has anyone had an IVF pregnancy where significant bleeding and confusing hCG trends still resulted in a good outcome?
\- If your pregnancy ended up being ectopic, what were your hCG levels and symptoms like?
\- Did anyone have hCG plateau or fall before ultimately being diagnosed with a miscarriage versus an ectopic?
\- Would you wait for more serial betas and repeat ultrasound before considering methotrexate if you were clinically stable?

I’m aware that statistically this is most likely a miscarriage or possibly an ectopic pregnancy. I’m not looking for false hope, just honest experiences from people who’ve been through something similar while I wait for more answers.

I’m looking for some opinions because the waiting between beta draws has been really difficult.
I have a history of one ectopic pregnancy and a couple of chemical pregnancies, so I’m very anxious with this pregnancy.
Based on my tracking (OPKs and symptoms), I believe I ovulated when I think I did, although my doctor believes I may have ovulated later.
Here’s my timeline:
I believe I implanted around 10 DPO. (My first positive was 10dpo is that the same as implantation lol?)
14 DPO: First beta hCG was 13 mIU/mL.
About 42 hours later (approximately 16 DPO): Second beta hCG was 42 mIU/mL.
I’m encouraged that it more than tripled in less than 48 hours, but I’m still worried because the first number was so low and because of my previous ectopic.
I’m wondering what others think:
Does this rise seem reassuring?
Has anyone had a beta of 13 around what they believed was 14 DPO and gone on to have a healthy pregnancy?
If you’ve had an ectopic, did your betas rise like this or were they slower?
Does anything about these numbers stand out as concerning?
I know no one can predict the outcome from two betas alone, but I’d really appreciate hearing your experiences while I wait for my next draw.

Hi, I need help understanding my betas. The clinic is assuring me it’s fine as long as the US shows a heartbeat but I have a bad feeling. 2 prior MC (one at 6w, one chemical). Got pregnant with IUI this time, am confident of ovulation date.

14 DPO - 60 HCG
16 DPO - 178 HCG
22 DPO - 1787 HCG
29 DPO - 5741 HCG + saw faint heartbeat, fetal pole measuring normally

This seems WAY slow from what I see on beta base. Thoughts?

Had a scan after some spotting on Tuesday. Yolk sac seen measuring 5+0. I should have been 6+3 and confident of my dates (only had sex once last month).

I asked the sonographer questions to help explain this. All she said was right now all looks healthy and measuring 5 days exactly. Kept repeating this.

I’ve since come home and googled like crazy and realise this could be a blighted ovum. I haven’t stopped crying, I’m a complete mess and need to wait 2 weeks for a rescan.

Has anyone had experience of this? The dates just don’t work. Is this over?

Last year on August 12th I had a really traumatic miscarriage. I had a dream a week earlier that the baby had died, and a few days later started spotting. On Aug 11th I went to my OB, and she did an ultrasound and found the baby had no heartbeat. I started hemorrhaging later that night and ended up in the hospital, it was all very upsetting. Turns out the baby stopped growing and I had a mmc at 13 weeks.

Fast forward and I get pregnant again this year, exactly around the same time as the last. My LMP was May 4th, I tested positive on June 2nd, and I just had my first scan. I expected to be around 11 weeks pregnant, but I'm measuring 9w6d. The heartbeat was 169, which the tech assured me was fine. But it's coming up on the anniversary of my last miscarriage and I'm just starting to fill with dread....I had another dream and I'm just looking for any positive stories about ultrasound dates being off by a week or more?

Hi everyone - I am TTC our second baby (first child is almost 2 years old). Last cycle we had a chemical pregnancy - bleeding started at 4 weeks, 5 days (HCG was 17.2 and Progesterone was a 2 and then HCG dropped below 5 after bleeding). This cycle we got a positive test again and we’re so excited but I wanted blood work again given what had just happened. So far my HCG has been 41, 43, and 71 at 14, 16, and 18 dpo, respectively. Progesterone was a 20 and dropped to a 10. Still no bleeding or cramping. Feeling hopeless and unsure what is happening. Another chemical that’s just going to happen later? ectopic? MMC? I’ll be 5 weeks 0 days tmrw. Any insight from those who have had back to back loses and multiple chemicals would mean a lot.

So confused. I have a history of unexplained losses (have done allll the testing) so I get weekly scans. Last week measured right on track for 5+1 (estimated) and gest sac was measuring 5+2. Today at 6+1 gest sac and feral pole measured 5+6, no heart beat yet. I know that is close for 6+1, I’m really not concerned about it being 2 days off, but more so that it was only 4 days growth. Plus, both of my past viable pregnancies we had a heart beat by 6+0 and I had horrible nausea with those and with my losses, but this time not a bit of nausea at all. Anyone have a positive experience with something similar?

This is my 4th pregnancy. First two were health and I had a MMC in January of this year. I found out I was pregnant a week ago and they did 2 blood draws 48 hours apart.

They said they look for at least a 50% increase so I shouldn’t be worried as of now. Everything I’m seeing online is an increase of at least 60%.

Just looking for some reassurance or stories that were similar and it turned out ok. I don’t want to stress until it need to but it’s really hard not to. Going in for another blood draw tomorrow.

This is my 2nd pregnancy. The first one ended in a loss at 10 weeks. I have PMOS and my cycles aren't regular. The first day of my last period was 5/31 and my LH showed a surge on 6/20.

I got my first VERY faint positive on June 30. On 7/13
my progesterone was 10.69 and HCG was 1194. They said I was measuring around 5 weeks but it was so small it was hard to tell.

Today, 7/23 (10 days later), I had a follow up ultrasound. We only saw a gestational sac and it was measuring around 5 weeks 4 days. No yolk sac or tetal pole.

The doctor and ultrasound tech said they couldn't rule out viability yet since it did grow, but it's possible it's a blighted ovum. I've had some on and off mild nausea and cramping at times (nothing worse than period and it's quick). They are doing more bloodwork.

Has anyone had a similar situation?

I caved yesterday and booked a very early ultrasound at 5+6, expecting to confirm intrauterine pregnancy and hopefully see a yolk sac and a fetal pole. I am certain of ovulation due to trigger shot and IUI. Not only did we see everything we hoped for, we even got to see the heart beating. We are of course thrilled about this.

However, the fetal pole was measuring only 1.4 mm, which I see now is very small. Although I’ve heard that it’s difficult to measure correctly, and it was certainly difficult to find it behind the yolk sac. The gestational sac was 11 mm and the yolk sac was 3.6 mm. We weren’t given a heart rate, but we got a 10 second clip that shows it, and I calculated that it’s only 84 bpm. She said it seems like the heart started beating within the last hour or so (maybe an exaggeration, idk). Combined with the small fetal pole, I’m of course concerned for the development of the fetus. She said everything looked perfect and right on track, but I’m struggling to accept that. Am I being overly cautious?

I’ve read sooo many posts that are negative. I’m losing any tiny bit of hope I can hold onto here. Does anyone have any positive experiences after being 10 days behind? The dr didn’t seem *that* worried, he said it’s not ideal but there’s a heart beat so there’s no reason to worry right now. I’m not that naive but now I’ve read stories that are making me basically believe I already lost it when I just saw the heart beat a couple hours ago.

According to my transfer id be 7 weeks 3 days, I only measured 6 weeks 0 days. I didn’t ask what the FHR was, I was so thrown off.

The tech worked so quick I didn’t even realize she saw a heartbeat… there was barely time to even see anything so I was super confused. The entire scan took 2 minutes. Maybe I’m just trying to hold onto hope but she did not seem very focused (I’ve had her so many times she’s never like this).

Anyway… hoping for positive stories. I go back in 8 days to see what happens. I’ve posted in another group as well and they’ve been great but hoping others have positives to share ❤️

We’ve been trying to grow our family but in the last year have had my second MMC and 2 chemicals. I then got diagnosed with a rare condition that makes my chances of conceiving a healthy child lower than normal.

We got pregnant, and for the first few days the lines were so faint. I even told my husband this seemed like another chemical. To my surprise, the lines got darker and darker starting around 13 DPO. I got my HCG checked at 17 DPO and was praying for a number around 150…. It was 1,218! Even with my living children my HCG was never that high at 17 DPO (it was 94 at 16 DPO with my oldest kiddo for reference). My heart is so guarded but seeing that number gave me a little glimmer of hope. Getting a 2nd HCG check soon.

TTC 7 months and these are the first positive tests I've had. Was a vvfl on Monday evening, perhaps a little darker on Tuesday AM, but I figured it hadn't even been 12 hours, so I thought my test yesterday morning would be noticeably darker.

Well, it wasn't that much darker, plus I had pink spotting/CM yesterday morning. This morning's test I can't even tell if it's darker than yesterday's at all and I'm starting to get really worried this might be a chemical pregnancy.

I got my beta HCG test yesterday and it came back at 11miu/ml which AI is telling me is low but doesn't necessarily mean not viable. But we all know AI is sometimes a little too reassuring. Still waiting for the OB to comment in my chart on the results. I know I'd normally go back for a repeat HCG but we're leaving tomorrow on an 8am flight for vacation and I won't be able to get back in for a repeat beta until next Tuesday.

What do you all think? This not knowing is just really messing with my head.

On my 6 weeks 4 days ultrasound baby's heartbeat was 112 and crl 0.9 cm.

Went for another scan on 9 weeks 4 days and baby's heartbeat was 119 and crl 2.89 cm.

According to Google it must be higher than 140. But the crl is fine.

I am freaking out, because i am only going in 3 weeks again for a scan.

I’ve had 2 back to back losses since March. In total I’ve had 3 miscarriages and 1 LC who is almost 3. I Ended up getting pregnant again and should be about 6weeks tomorrow. Started getting my HCG done at 12 dpo and my first 4 blood draws were:
54, 111, 225, 1530 (all 48 hrs apart)
I still wasn’t feeling any symptoms so I had another HCG done yesterday 1 week after my last draw. Should have been 5w5d and my number was only 7,730.
I’ve read all the things and am curious if people have had similar experiences and wouldn’t mind sharing their outcome, both good and bad. I know it could go either way but was really hoping for a more reassuring rise while I wait for my ultrasound which is 8 days from now. Thank you!

I am trying to figure out my current pregnancy if it is going to end in a MMC or not.. I feel like my results/tests/dates are pointing towards the MC but looking for any similar scenarios, etc.

I had a chemical pregnancy back in April. I got pregnant after my cycle following that. My first last day of period was May 20th. I tested positive with a faint line for the first time June 25th. I know I ovulated a little later than normal based off my last period and testing positive. I got 6 HCG tests done because of my previous chemical pregnancy. They were as follows:

First HCG - 98 6/25

Second HCG - 453 6/28

Third HCG- 1,129 7/2

Fourth HCG - 3,260 7/8 

Fifth HCG - 7,635 7/13 

Sixth HCG - 10,126 7/15

Ultrasounds:
I went to a clinic on 7/9 for an ultrasound to rule out ectopic. It showed a gestational sac only measuring 5 weeks and 2 days. This was a trans abdominal one.

I went in yesterday 7/22 for my OB confirm at my OBGYN. It showed a gestational sac measuring 6 weeks 2 days. The saw a fetal pole measuring 5 weeks 6 days. No yolk sac was seen. but the pole was hidden in the upper corner so possibly we just couldn't see it? No heartbeat was detected either. This was a trans vaginal one.

My OB said this is likely a MMC but couldn't confirm it. She said 70% likely and 30% chance of viability. I go back on 7/31 for another ultrasound.

I am the type that would rather just rip the bandaid off and not be sticking out false hope. I believe that with the dates and the development between the two ultrasounds there is no hope. But my OB said the first ultrasound being trans abdominal could have been inaccurate? Has anyone been in a similar situation? Is there any chance of hope?

My doctor ordered a HCG blood test for me to confirm pregnancy but since this is not considered a high risk pregnancy she only ordered a single test and isn’t planning on doing a second one unless the value is concerning. I just got the results back in and it is 11,058 miU/ml and it was taken on 24 DPO. Did any of you get HCG drawn around this time? What is a typical HCG level? I’m reading that normal rage is huge so I’d love people’s opinions and experiences.

After a miscarriage in march I found out I was expecting again! LMP is june 3d. And my first positive was june 29th (tested before, stark white before this) So yesterday I went for an ultrasound hoping it would ease my mind a bit. They had a hard time getting the foetus I the picture clearly. It measured 6 weeks 2 days with a crl of 6.3 It had a flicker which was comforting. Now I need to go back on Tuesday to see if they can get a clearer picture. I am so scared because I am.measuring behind. I just need to put it somewhere I guess. Since I don't want to share with my friends atm.

I posted here a few days ago because I was struggling to understand why my pregnancy was consistently measuring behind despite having very well-tracked ovulation. Unfortunately I have a difficult update, and I'm wondering if anyone has been through something similar.

Background

Previous miscarriage earlier this year, so this has been a closely monitored pregnancy.

Taking progesterone support, baby aspirin (because had very high ANA/ATAPositve results from previous miscarriage), prednisone and IV intralipid therapy as part of my protoco, aside from the usual folic acid, prenatals, omega 3, vitamin D (high dose as i'm deficient) etc.

Timeline

LMP: 26 May 2026

LH surge: 10 June (Mira LH 32.9)

Estimated ovulation: 11 June (supported by LH, BBT shift and hormone tracking)

First faint positive: 19 June (8 DPO by my tracking)

Because of all the above, I'm very confident about my ovulation date and don't think this is a case of dating being off by a week, doctor agrees.

Early hCG

22 Jun: 47, 24 Jun: 153, 27 Jun: 277, 30 Jun: 581, 7 Jul: 6,132, 21 Jul: 19,021, 23 Jul: 16,900 (declined over ~48 hours)

Ultrasounds

16 July
Gestational sac: 12.3 mm
CRL: 2.8 mm
Possible very faint flicker but no confirmed heart rate.
18 July
Three CRL measurements:
4.9 mm
5.0 mm
5.1 mm
Measured approximately 6w1d–6w2d.
A definite heartbeat was seen, but they couldn’t obtain a measurable heart rate on M-mode.
23 July (today)
CRL: 6.5 mm
Measuring 6w4d
So over 5 days the embryo only grew from about 5.0 mm to 6.5 mm.

My doctor also said the heart rate has slowed and appears bradycardic. She told me this does not look like a healthy pregnancy and is expecting the heartbeat to stop over the next few days.

The plan is another ultrasound on Tuesday. If and when cardiac activity has stopped, we'll proceed with a D&C on Friday. And do genetic testing on it (wasn't done previously as my last loss was at 5w).

I mean. This is pretty clear. All this, plus the cramps i've been feeling yesterday (no bleeding as i've been on 3x a day progesterone support)- this is over. I've lost my baby. Again. In the span of 4 months. 3rd overall. After every possible testing and treatment possible.

My question

I know nobody can predict what will happen, and I'm not looking for false reassurance. I mean let's be real, its pretty fucking obvious whats happening. My intuition for the last 2 weeks alone has been that something is wrong, with the measurement lag. But, I guess as one last hail mary. I'm specifically wondering whether anyone has experienced: persistent measuring behind despite known ovulation,slow interval CRL growth, a slowing/bradycardic heartbeat,and even a falling hCG...that later recovered? Or if you had a similar combination of findings, how did things progress?

I'm trying to prepare myself while also understanding whether there are any documented success stories with this specific pattern. I mean i basically know what's going on. We're just waiting for my baby's heartbeat to stop by tuesday but yeah. I can't believe i'm typing this right now. I was supposed to take my growing bump photo of 8w today. And here we are. I really thought this time it would be different.
