End of The Week Thread!

This is a new thread that appears on Saturdays creating an opportunity for members to write about and let out how their week went! whether it was a way to cope, having a good week, or just needing to vent about it.

No discussion of living children allowed in this thread. it can be even more heartbreaking for members who have had a tough week with their fresh loss, seeing comments about the time other members spent with their living children.

vent My friend announced her pregnancy right after I cried about my miscarriage

My friend group organized a get together, and they made me a little care package. I cried at the gesture and cried from the grief.

My best friend thought this was the right moment to announce her pregnancy. The look on everyone’s face was pure horror.

What in the actual fuck????! I could barely say anything and got in my car and weeped.

How can I continue to be friends with this person?

experience: first MC 3 hours ago I was a mom

It happened and I can't stop crying.

It actually hasn't even happened but it will eventually. Today they called me to tell me that my hCG went down and it is most likely a non-viable pregnancy. I am 5w2d approximately and I loved my baby (or babies, next week we were going to know if we had one, two or three babies). Now I just feel awful. I'm still pregnant but my numbers are going down when they should have doubled and now I know that my baby might still be there but will be gone any day now. I can't cope. I can't stop crying. My husband is out of town on a work trip and no one else knew but another friend. I just have so many questions. I'm so confused. I'm so sad.

I just needed to write somewhere, feel less alone. What do I do in the meantime while I know that it will happen but it hasn't happened yet?

coping How to remove pregnancy and parenting ads on Reddit

Upvotes

https://www.reddit.com/settings/preferences

At the bottom go to ‘Limit ads in selected categories’.

There’s a few you can unallow, including the pregnancy and parenting ads.

Posted this as a comment for something unrelated last week and a few people were thankful, so posting here in case it helps people here. 🙂

introduction post Empty sac

Upvotes

I can’t believe I’m posting here. Iv been lurking this sub due to the gut feeling something wasn’t right with my current pregnancy. And now I feel I somehow manifested this by reading about blighted ovums something I never knew was possible until recently. Last night I had some bright red blood non penetrative intimacy. I read all the positive stories on Reddit and convinced myself everything was ok. I experienced bleeding in my last pregnancy and it turned out fine but decided for peace of mind I’d book a private scan this morning. Iv had no symptoms, I feel stupid I should have known , again convinced myself it was ok because Iv had 6 healthy complication free pregnancies and beautiful healthy babies. I naively told myself my body is used to it now so that’s why there’s no symptoms. I was trusting my body to do what I thought it does best. Now it’s failed me and Iv failed it. I ignored my intuition showing up to my scan with hope of seeing my baby. I haven’t even felt pregnant and I thought seeing it would finally make it all feel real. But no an empty sac measuring 6w1d when I should be 9w 2d there’s been no more spotting or blood and I’m left devastated that there is no baby. How do I move on from this?

vent 12 week miscarriage of twins

Yesterday the worst thing that could have happened did. I was so close to reaching the second trimester. All of the anxiety was finally dying down. There was a light at the end of the tunnel. I’d far surpassed my chemical pregnancy a year prior and heard strong heart beats, saw my babies on an ultrasound. I told everybody that would listen about my twins.
I woke up yesterday with no pain and no bleeding. I went to the bathroom and was horrified to see my baby when I wiped. No blood. No tissue. Just undeniably my baby. I looked at its little hands and fingers and tiny feet before I absolutely lost my shit. I spent hours in the ER to find out my other baby had no heart beat either. Today I have no cramping, no bleeding and an ache in my chest I can’t even begin to let myself feel yet. I took my first pill to induce the rest of my miscarriage and I’m terrified to feel and see it all.
I can’t stand that one baby is buried without its twin right now. That it is alone when all they have ever known are each other and me. I can’t grieve until they are together and the medical part is over. I don’t even know what to do with myself. I’m so grateful that I’ve had my fiancé by my side this entire time I seriously don’t know how I’d cope without him.
I don’t know what I’m hoping to gain by sharing this. Maybe a heads up from anyone else who have gone through medicated MC? Anyone’s who’s experience both natural and medicated to give me a heads up on the difference?

I’m just afraid and utterly heartbroken.

coping Beautiful New Song About Miscarriage

One of my favorite music artists, Jax, just released a new song about miscarriage. She's had 2 (and so have I). It's a beautiful, gut wrenching, and heartbreaking song, and I can almost guarantee if you've had a miscarriage you will cry. But I hope in the pain there is healing, like there is for me. Please note as a TW that she's had a kid now and does mention it briefly at the end of the song. So there is mention of a live child. But most of the song is about miscarriage. Enjoy. And beautiful healing wishes to all of you.

coping First chemical pregnancy blues

If anyone has the emotional capacity, I really need someone to talk to.

This was cycle #6, and the first time I'd seen any sort of line on a pregnancy test. I knew immediately it was faint and not a for-sure thing, but I did get a little excited. I've been meticulously tracking opks, bbt, timing sex, etc. so I knew we had a good shot, and maybe this was the one. Extremely faint lines on two different types of tests 12dpo and 13dpo (this morning). Now spotting, and I'm confident it's over.

I know a chemical pregnancy is nothing compared to an MC further along; still, I'm so heartbroken. My husband has been dealing with my anxiety/sadness every cycle now since cycle #4 (when we both started to freak out a little about how it wasn't happening). He's recently brought up adoption. I know he's also emotionally stretched - and now, I'm so miserable that I'm just avoiding him tonight to avoid bringing him down further. He doesn't seem to mind.

We've been through a lot in the 6 months we've been ttc; we moved internationally for a better quality of life and to start our family (which isn't quite working out). It was a big jump - away from our families and everything familiar. Now that I've lost the first real chance we had, I'm just feeling like a real failure. I don't know how people do this for years on end - I feel like it's consuming my whole life; I don't know how to cope with this anymore.

Any insight or experiences would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

experience: D&C Hysteroscopy assisted D&C?

Has anyone here had a hysteroscopy assisted D&C? Currently having MMC. 10 weeks gestation, baby measuring 6 weeks.

I was interested in D&C as opposed to medical management for a variety of reasons but concerned about possible scar tissue/adhesions impacting future fertility. OB suggested doing it with hysteroscopy assistance so that they are able to more directly target the pregnancy/avoid other parts of the uterus, and to better visualize the rest of the uterus to avoid any damage. Seemed like she was explaining this as a more “gentle” option.

Has anyone had this? Most of what I’ve seen on here are people who had hysteroscopy after a miscarriage for concern for retained products or something of that nature.

experience: first MC Struggling working with pregnant colleague

Upvotes

We have been trying for a baby for over a year now with no success. Last month I had a chemical and was devastated, we thought it had finally happened for us. While I was miscarrying I found out a colleague is pregnant. That was over a month ago and I am slowly recovering mentally but every time I see her I feel physically sick. I don’t know why obviously it isn’t fair on her and I am avoiding her but I don’t know how to stop feeling this way. Thankfully I don’t need to work with her a lot but struggling when we cross paths

coping Family kept a secret from me — what should I do?

Upvotes

I just was at my sister's apartment and found a handwritten card from our cousin asking her to be the baby's godparent. I was actually THERE that night when the card was apparently exchanged — it was a family party.

Everyone knows I had a miscarriage of multiples a few months ago and I guess is being sensitive. But it's been a few weeks ... why did no one tell me? Am I that much of an unpredictable live wire?

Assuming the best: I think it's a case of people not wanting to upset me or set me off. However, I also feel a bit WTF that everyone thinks I am that fragile. I still want to know even if I'm sad that I was supposed to have a baby too...!

What should I do? I am not confrontational so I figure I will just pretend not to know.

support for someone who miscarried flowers?

My best friend just miscarried & I was thinking of sending her some flowers but now I'm second guessing.

I don't want to make her feel worse by sending her flowers. I've seen people say that they wish they haven't gotten flowers because they didn't want to associate flower with their experience, or they didn't want to see it wilt and die

am I overthinking? is there anything else I can get her so she feels acknowledged? (not meals since she lives with her family)

experience: first MC Blighted ovum? So nervous

Upvotes

Looking for some hope and similar stories ❤️

I had a frozen embryo transfer (PGT-A tested euploid embryo) on 6/25. At what should have been 6 weeks 2 days, my ultrasound showed a gestational sac measuring about 5 weeks 3 days, but no yolk sac or fetal pole yet. My hCG is still doubling (most recently around 9,400), which has given me a little hope that maybe my dates are just off or implantation happened later than expected.

Has anyone had a similar experience — a sac measuring behind with no yolk sac/fetal pole at this point — and gone on to see a healthy pregnancy?

Doctor wants me to continue meds until next ultrasound tomorrow. Trying to hold onto a small sliver of hope but also guarding my heart. This is our only euploid 😞

introduction post Just lost my baby at 16 weeks

I hate I am here.

I absolutely love these forums exist, but I hate that I found myself wanting to post here to share this experience and find some camaraderie in the pits of grief and despair.

I lost my little baby just this morning. I bled all weekend, went to the ER three different times. “Threatened abortion,” “possible SCH,” “how many pads have you soaked an hour?” “Please give me your date of birth.”

I’m not sure what happened. And I think that’s the hardest part of this all. I started spotting Friday morning, started bleeding heavily Sunday morning. Throughout that time, I had three abdominal ultrasounds confirming a heartbeat of 148-158.

Tuesday, my baby literally just fell out of me. I was placing myself on bedrest throughout the weekend. I wake up this morning and she fell out of me — placenta with her. I know that’s graphic, but for me it is the reality of her demise. She deserved more. I deserved more. I called her “sister” and I just loved her. She was so loved. And I prayed for her for years.

How do I go about this? How do I move on? Do we move on? Can I ever get pregnant again? The uncertainty kills me. Life is so cruel. And I’m so tired. So tired.

question/need help How long did it take you to stop bleeding?

I’m 9 days past my miscarriage, baby measured 8 weeks (i was supposed to be 10), and i took misoprostol. passed pretty much everything within a couple hours of taking it. continued bleeding moderately but it’s been about 24 hours since bleeding. before that it was just brown spotting.

I’m just scared that the spotting will come back. I want to be intimate with my husband again😭 i miss feeling that closeness with him. we got the OK to start trying again right away when i stop bleeding and my hCG levels go down. but we have the ok to have protected sex right when the bleeding stops.

how long did you stop bleeding before it came back again? how did you know when you were done completely?

testings after loss Methotrexate for lingering hcg

My HCG is now down to 7.1 after miscarriage (week 7 blighted ovum) management with misoprostol, but my ultrasound showed persistent vascularity/possible vascular RPOC vs AVM. My doctor mentioned methotrexate as a possible option or watchful waiting.

Has anyone been given methotrexate when their HCG was already very low (around 7–10)?

How long did it take for your HCG to become negative afterward?

Did taking MTX delay trying to conceive, and for how long?

coping Questions about coping

I just posted yesterday about losing my girl at 16 weeks.

What are things that helped you through the first days to 2 weeks? I asked for anxiety meds from my doctor. I am not on an anti-depressant currently, and I already go to counseling every other week (will probably bump this up to weekly now). I’ve gone through loss before — infidelity with divorce, animals, grandmothers like moms, etc.

This just feels like a fragile grief, a pure grief that isn’t something my mind can wrap around. Mostly without knowing what happened to her. Last night was brutal and all I felt was the emptiness; anxious about my birthday, etc.

What helped you guys in this process?

question/need help I need some insight or shared experiences

Just had a late miscarriage (13+4 weeks). 6/22 was diagnosed with a SCH and bleed for a week before I miscarried on 6/28. Since then I've continued to bleed, it went from heavy and clotted to light but still having clots. I feel like the color has been fluctuating also. At times it's been dark and other it's been light pink but the past few days it's been dark red but also bright red mixed with CM discharge. My HCG went from 86,700 6/28 to 497 7/7 to 63 7/14 to 15 7/21. My doctor called and said I could take a week off and hopefully within two weeks it'll be at zero. I said I'd like to just test out at home. She asked if I had my period yet? I said no... But also I've been bleeding for 4 weeks straight between the SCH and the miscarriage. She didn't like that answer and said I need to continue to come in until I get below 5. But for some reason today, I feel like I am getting my period. I'm bleeding heavier, it brighter blood, and I'm have period like cramps.

I just don't know? Has anyone had their period come without any time between miscarriage bleeding?

experience: natural MC Second miscarriage no children TTC 12months

I am just looking to chat with some people in a similar situation as I just feel so alone in this.
My husband is great but he doesn’t feel the emotional loss the same way I do- I also feel it’s my fault because I can’t seem to make them stick. I do have OCD traits, since this loss I cannot stop thinking about it and trying to find a reason.
When I found out at first I didn’t feel like it was real, I wasn’t as excited as the first time but I kept pretending. The night before I started bleeding I kept thinking about losing the pregnancy and that it probably would be for the best (they would be due at the same time as SIL wedding and I didn’t want to take her brother away from her big day). I feel like I manifested it by not believing and having these thoughts before. I did 8tests over the past 2 weeks because I couldn’t believe that I was actually pregnant. I don’t know if I knew intuitively that it wouldn’t work out or it’s the anxiety from the first time.

None of my friends have had any significant issues with conception or had any miscarriage. I feel like it won’t ever happen for me, I don’t think I’ll ever be able to make it stick. I’m worried my anxiety is also making me so stressed that could be why I miscarried too. This whole process has been so heart breaking I just feel so down.
I have done a questionnaire that says my chances of miscarriage again are 42%… I have PMOS(prev PCOS) BMI 28 and 34.

I don’t have anyone who will understand where I am rn and I don’t want pity. I just want to talk to others to know it is normal and it’s not me.
Thanks for reading if you have.

trigger warning: graphic description Ultrasound results confusing and scary :(

In my prior posts ive mentioned, i started bleeding at what should have been my 6 weeks. It was a lot of clots etc. Gestationally at this point i would be 9 weeks. My ultrasound says "threatened miscarriage measuring 6 weeks" no heartbeat or fetal pole no yolk sac. I stopped bleeding 9 days ago. They wanna do a follow up ultrasound in 2 weeks. Is that too late? at that point the sac will have been in my body sitting for 5 weeks. Did I get pregnant again or vanishing twin? my hcg levels did drop. Im just so confused.

question/need help How do you count miscarriage?

Hi everyone, this seems like a very stupid question but here it is, how do you count the date of your miscarriage?

I had one back in November.

Do you count by the date of the size of your foetus? Or by the date your body experienced the miscarriage?

Sorry for the idiotic question but I just wanted to know what I should write down in my personal notes and what to tell if anyone asks.

I hope you are all doing well ❤️

question/need help What to expect after d&c

I had an emergency d&c late Monday night. I had to have a blood transfusion. I believe I was 8-9 weeks. I have felt no pain from the d&c. However I am experiencing pain from the chest up from being put under general anesthesia. It began with soreness and pain when I coughed, now I can’t lift my arm above my shoulders without experiencing pain. My chest feels extremely sore, the pain radiates to my ribs and even my collar bone.
My neck hurts to tilt forward or back but not side to side.
Is this typical to experience after general anesthesia?
