I feel like all I've seen from this sub for the past week has been 3ds themes, and cracked hinge/repair questions. How do you all feel about the volume of posts like those?

I’ve got a question about the hinge if anyone might know?

When the top screen is rotating, does the hinge move with it?
In other words, is the hinge attached so tightly to the top screen that it rotates as well?

My hinge has a wee bit of resistance, but has lost its second clicking position. Thus, after opening the 3DS to its standard viewing position, it has nothing to catch onto and falls flat.

Incase anyone ever finds themselves in the same situation;

by heating the top screen, the slot where the hinge sits in the top screen was loosened due to the heat expanding the slot.

To fix this, I had to dismantle the entire thing to get access to the actual hinge mechanism, and thicken it by wrapping electrical tape around the hinge component. After doing this and jamming it back in, the hinge now sits snug into the original spot and has effectively reconnected to the top screen. The hinge now rotates with the top screen as you open it.

Refurbished new 3ds xls can be bought from eb games for $350 Aud. I’ve been browsing marketplace and these go for around $400 if in good condition, with mods, etc. Great condition ones can hit around $700. Is there any reason to not buy from eb games? I’ve heard that modding a 3ds is a pretty manageable task.

hi so everytime i try to do the python method (i dont rmbr the name) on my japanese 3ds and i open mset9macos on the computer it shows thos saying i need to download python. but regardless of how many tines i download it it wont budge and ket me movr on, help.

I followed a guide to replace the LCD on an old 3ds but now the touch screen isn't working. Can anyone advise?

I found these sealed in my room but my 3DS top screen is broken right now. Would they be worth fixing my screen to play or should I just get rid of them? I usually play my DSi now so I’m not sure if it’s worth the fuss. Were these fun?

So I'd love to hear some thoughts and opinions on something I feel quite passionate about! Im a long time DS fan, and recently picked up my DS Lite again. I own numerous 3DS consoles and a really decent sized library, and I also own a good chunk of original DS game.

I recently played through Another Code on the DS Lite and it just brought back such a magical feeling. It was also wildly refreshing to finish a game in around 5/6 hours and not be pulled into a 70 hour drag.

What specifically do you think made DS and 3DS games so special? How often do you still play DS games?

I'm looking to buy a New 3DS XL or LL, I'm looking on ebay and i stumbled upon several of professional sellers like this that have a lot of 3DSs and other consoles from japan. I know that japanese consoles are less expensive but those prices seems too god to be true to me, and sometimes they also offer free return and a surprisingly fast shipping from japan.
I know they have a lot of positive reviews and feedback but I've never bought anything on ebay and I fear I may be scammed.

So... my sister stole my 3DS a few years back, and i wanna get a new one. Problem is, i've heard DKOldies is absolute garbage.

Is there any other sites that have a decent price? Or should I just say "fuck it" and buy that Thor thing everyone's talking about?

I recently found my old 3DS, and I went to see about getting it fixed about 7 years ago, and they told me it would be cheaper to just get a refurbished one instead. The thing is, I have a lot of memories on my 3DS that I don’t know if they’re on my SD card or not (I don’t believe they are). Is it worth it to try and find someone who can fix it, is it fixable (it’s been sitting in a car for five years in various weather conditions), and how much would I be looking at if it’s fixable?

EDIT: Definitely going to look into getting a charging block and trying that first, thank you all for your comments and advice, I will update once it’s working again and this is resolved!

Im assumeing its damage of some kind. Its not that noticeable during gameplay but on white screens its very distracting its the circle shapes above the choose a theme.

This is my first time owning a 3ds and I bought it used. before I destroyed the screen I wanted to put a screen protector on but it looks like there is one already on it. just want to be sure.

Quite a shame, I used to use it a lot. No matter what I do, it always redirects me to a login page, which the 3DS can't fully load.

3ds keeps getting an error when playing my physical copy of Majoras mask . My 3ds is modded it lets me boot the version on the sd card but not the physical one. Please help me

This is a very dumb thing to have to ask, but I have a used copy of Hot Wheels: Worlds Best Driver that genuinely has no way to delete the old save data. My 3ds is modded, has checkpoint on it, but I don't really know how to use it. I see that you can backup save data and load it back on but I see no way of just deleting the data off the cartridge itself. Does anyone have any suggestions?

P.S none of the button combos work on game startup

Hello, I would like to get some help with my hacked 3DS XL.

Today, I found an old SD card and inserted it into my hacked 3DS. The SD card was not recognized. However, when I tried to put my original SD card back (the one with all my hack apps and games), the console was no longer able to read it at all.

The blue power light stays on continuously, but the console does not boot and the screens stay black. As soon as I remove the SD card, the console starts normally again.

I would like to point out that before inserting the old SD card, everything was working perfectly fine.
