My island has accidentally ended up very Stars Hollow like. I initially set out for a small town, surrounded by cozy woods, but then I got Curt and ended up making him the chef at the cafe in HHP and designed it like Luke’s because I was out of ideas.

The rest is history - Ms. Ness would be proud.

My other two villagers are Daisy and Shep, but I’m not too sure who they fit, and they’re mostly to represent my own dogs IRL. Daisy is probably Rory though, considering the books

Is it just me? Whenever i play at night it always stresses me out that i will miss the chance to get the shooting stars. And the stars always comes out whenever im using my tools, inventory or diving

I wish characters could still have rude personalities because I'm sick of hearing the same dialogue. for example, when i talk to my favourite villager (merry) a lot, i wish shed yell at me or something instead of just standing there and accepting it 😭

Theme is tropical woods with a national park flair. Building my island, I wanted it to be practical while still playing, everything loops around together, led by signs. Has different neighborhoods, two pool resort areas, including a golf course, orchard, camping and hiking trail, horse stable, orchard, cafe, markets, seafood restaurant, and plenty of seating areas!

It's been over a year and I still can't really bring myself to pick up this game and play it. It doesn't feel like I'm progressing, it feels like I'm trying to play catch up to where I was forever ago.

For context, I was dating a girl back in 2023-2024 and we broke it off because she cheated on me. I was seriously so heartbroken because I really thought we were happy and steady, but I guess not. I had loaned her my switch because she wanted to play on my island, but when she gave it back to me (I had to beg her multiple times to return my stuff to me) I realized she had deleted my island entirely. I let my brother take the switch with him to college for 2025 because I couldn't really bring myself to play. Now it's 2026 and I still have difficulty getting back into it. I just had so much work put into my old island and a lot of my favorite villagers and now I'm just really upset about how much effort it's going to take to get back to where I was. I don't have nearly as much time as I did a few years ago, I'm working full time and taking care of my mom at the same time.

Any advice on how to get over this block?

As I've been reading and responding to comments, I decided to pick the game up and play it in the background just for old times sake. It's been nice. Relaxing. I think getting this off my chest helped a lot.

I can't guarantee I'll play as much as I used to in the past. Like I mentioned above, I'm a lot busier these days and I've started playing other genres of games I enjoy. But I think I'll come back to Animal Crossing on my own time. Something about the fishing just really relaxes me lol.

To everyone offering to give me items/DIY/villagers: thank you so much for your support! But I really prefer my island to be my own work - built by me, for me. I want it to be something I put the time and effort into. Maybe I'm a bit of a purist that way but oh well. It's just my preference. But it's super nice to know how selfless and caring this community is and I seriously teared up a bit reading all of the nice comments!

I need help with this... Is it no longer possible to completely cover default paths with custom designs? I want to recreate parts of my old/lost island (first image, from September 2020) on my current island (second image, today) but i can't seem to figure out how to get the same results. The custom designs are being cropped to the default path underneath now, no matter if I place it with the island builder app tool or simply from the designs app.

Yes, I could extend the sand below but it wouldn't bring the desired effect... I like how the original idea I had looked. So did they make changes along these years that i missed out on? They didn't mention anything specific about it in the official patch notes so maybe it was a hidden change?
