General The new RE movie does NOT take place in the 90's

Post image

There was already speculation when the first trailer came out because of the flashlight, but this pretty much confirms it. That means this movie is impossible to be Canon to the games and has really NO connection with them.

Edit: I don't know why some people are getting upset over this post lol. Since it's a completely brand new story set in the RE verse, I don't really have a problem with the changes ngl. I was just pointing out the connection between the movie and the games.

General Unmatched Atmosphere>>>

The atmosphere in OG RE2 and RE3 was so haunting. Zombies moaning in the background while you walk through eerily quiet alleys, overwhelming darkness beyond...

Or exploring the R.P.D. for the first time while the iconic music plays...

It all evokes a feeling of isolation and scariness really effectively. And the fixed camera angles amplify that feeling. Masterworks.

General Some people are sad they missed out on teen love. Others are sad they missed out on good gas prices. Me? I'm sad I missed out on these CE's. Especially because scalpers prices are so outrageous

I really liked how super stylized the art is. I also really like how Birkins eye on his shoulder is blue. Tyrant looks very intimidating as well. I kinda miss when the smooth, angry faces they used to have as opposed to the wrinkled, emotionless faces.

Forum question Is it just me, or has Resident Evil always had a sort of “magic” essence to it?

I mean this in the way of, sometimes it feels like whatever’s happening is some sort of dark spell or just really spooky to the point where it can’t be explained as just another virus or infection.

Lore question How deadly would the Revenants be if they got off the island?

Post image

Given how Alex Wesker released these particularly gruesome monstrosities afterwards and they utterly decimated all the Afflicted infected in a rather short span of time I am curious to see what would happen if they were unleashed in a city or were mass produced beyond what we saw.

That and perhaps better constructed since Alex had made the Revenants rather haphazard, but I still imagine them being quite deadly, especially with how they seem to be glass cannons in terms of B.O.W combat potential. Very deadly, but once the Ouroboros blister emerged could be taken down rather easily.

But I still see these things causing a lot of death and destruction before being taken out.

General RE8 & Beneviento House...

First of all... What the fuck!?

I wasn't expecting that, truly scared the living shit out of me when I saw that baby, I was feeling the vibe of Horror and solving puzzles (I relaxed a bit since I had no guns) and my god when I went down that well I tought that the dolls were gonna chase me or something, i was not expecting a freaking mutant doing baby noises to start following me, I had to mute the game because I was freaking out.

BRA-VO! Capcom, it was a few years since something scared me like that.

The game is turning out better for me than RE7 (the pacing specifically), but I don't know, I think the areas feel a little bit rushed, I spent less than 2 hours in Dimistrecu Castle, since it had like a LOT of hype when it came out i tought it was like a major part of the game, anyways, I like it so far.

Forum question Which stalker enemies did you find the scariest? Spoiler

Thumbnail gallery
477 Upvotes

I played the entire franchise throughout the years and so far the scariest stalker enemy for me is Jack Baker. Despite the monstrous looking Nemesis and Tyrant or the Girl, they never really made me feel like I cannot cross a room. Even for Lady Dimitrescu, my heart didnt skip a beat while getting past a room, i just did, knew she would be around but still went past and completed tasks. But for Jack Baker I was running like a rat for a safe room. Sometimes I stood in the doorframe looking beyond the corridors hoping Jack doesn't pop up. Maybe because the boundary is very confined for RE7, unlike the rest, but this dude has me jumping in my seat even if the noise is coming from a distance. What about you guys tho? Which stalker makes you scared while playing?

It’s just the absolute best way to play. I love the Seamless HD ports, but the glow of a CRT tv just hits perfectly.

Forum question Is it worth to play the RE games almost exclusively for the story/lore?

Upvotes

First of all I think the gameplay is by no means objectively bad or anything like it. There is after all a reason the series is so popular.

But being about 3 hours into the RE2 remake I am questioning if the inventory management and backtracking formula is something I'll be able to enjoy and if it is "worth it" to keep playing to find out more about the characters, Umbrella corp and what actually created the Zombies since that is what interests me the most.

I rlly don't wanna be ignorant to the community or anything like it. I am just much more fascinated by the game's stories than I am by its gameplay.
