Strategy & Builds Helpful tips, decks, and other useful info for Back4Blood

Stopped in here recently and noticed people still post useful information for Back4Blood players. Thought a pinned "help" thread would be more useful than the extremely old LFG post that was sitting at the top.

If you have a tried and true deck, feel free to post! But do know that there's a BIG difference between a deck that can smash Veteran, Nightmare, or No Hope. General consensus is that Veteran can be done with any deck while No Hope requires some strong synergies.

Also - a newer player might not be able to handle a DPS-optimized deck because they haven't figured out how to control the flow of zombies with smart positioning and the use of their bash. You could, for example, note that your deck is "noob" friendly or intermediate and above.

Share directly or link to past threads - I'm sure anything would be helpful.

Discussion I need to do Act 2,3 and 4 in Nightmare difficulty for the Platinum in PS5.

Hi, in 2021 these trophies were super difficult and I only could do ACT 1 in Nightmare, then the game started to be in a weird spot and ended leaving it, but I see they nerfed the Nightmare difficulty?

Anyway, I wanted to know if its more doable now than it was before and if someone could help me do it. Thanks

Discussion Does anybody else hate when you’re in the lobby with random people and you have to wait the whole 3 1/2 mins to start. I find that infuriating, and it’s always that one person lol

Does anybody else get pissed at this or am I the only one?

Strategy & Builds What amount team card distribution is required and best in a 4-man group?

Been many years since we've played and we're revisiting Act 6 on No hope difficulty which we haven't done.

We all want to go DPS or builds like Belgian or Bow (thats me). So we've settled with dedicating 4 slots for team cards and the rest for our respective DPS builds we have fun with.

So we're looking for advise on what team cards is necessary and how many copies is required or too much of.

At the moment the cards we've settled on is:

- Copper Scavenger x4

- Money Grubbers x4

- Amped Up x2

- On Your Mark x2

We'll be using Group Hug burn cards for extra lives, since we've got a alot of those. What other team cards should we use?

So long as less than 4 birds survive, no alarm will be triggered.

Discussion Hot Take: (this has probably been discussed before plenty of times) Back 4 Blood it’s genuinely a good game and I don’t think it deserves a fraction of the hate it gets.

I’ve been seeing a lot of things pop up my YouTube feed based around hate on the game. I do have to admit.. I have been playing since lunch and there was a fair bit of issues, but nothing that dramatically ruined the experience for me. I genuinely loved it, I don’t love it as much as left 4 dead. Even though there are a lot of similarities, it’s a different game. And I appreciate it for that.

Edit: In the title I meant to put “is a genuinely good game” not “it’s”

Discussion A card trading/earning system in B4B2 has high potential to be Fun and engaging.

TLDR; The 15 card system is the best thing about b4b giving the game high replay value .

the card system if opened up to be more of a social thing would work really good and Fortnite showed that people love hunting collecting trading leveling up .

I couldn’t find a picture of it but even during July 4 American Independence Day holiday there was one million players playing the special events.

I can never quite type what I want to say but the card system in b4b is FUN .

Question Won't let me start a game save I have

When I try and start a game I'm only about half way through act 1, it just keeps searching for a game.

Why doesn't it just start the game and let people join me while I'm playing? Why does it look for other games of people trying to start mission of the game that I am on?

Should I just try private instead so I can actually continue from where I am

Last post in this sub, I posted my deck and I made a update for it.
Thank you everyone who told me more about cards. Didn't know combat knife was a trap for new players.

How is my deck this time? I try to make it for AR but don't have that much AR cards.

Man, this game is fun as hell. I'm still playing Act 1

I don't know anyone, and I mean it - I don't know or can find anyone who ONLY plays Act 1. I've completed it so many times and I still haven't played Act 2 or 3!

It's wrong to say but, having one terrible team mate is what makes it fun. You need a terrible team mate because when everyone's good, it's too easy.

For my newer/intermediate players

If any of my new players need help with certain acts, advice on decks, or help with no hope/nightmare. Pm me or drop your discord.

I recently got a fixation for b4b again after taking a long break and wouldn't mind teaching folks.

Its nice to see this community isn't entirely dead.

How is my deck so far?

I still count myself new to Back 4 Blood (but not new to the L4D style games) and despite me beating all of act 2 in Nightmare, I still don't have any idea what I'm doing.

What I tried to do is to the best of my thought is like a assault rifle/shotgun deck.

I have no idea what I made.

How is my first deck?

Edit: I only play Jim. The guy in the orange coat

Discussion How to build melee anymore?

I played previously during the era before melee got nerfed to hell and back and coming back to play again I feel like all building melee is a weakness. Just wondering if there is anything I am missing for mandatory cards for melee. There are a ton of issues with Melee I'm not sure how to address them all anymore.

  1. Acid Ridden - Scar Tissue feels required because acid pools just become so common on these modifiers that it's almost impossible to avoid when in melee.
  2. Face your Fears - I recall that temp HP blocked trauma creation. Bandages/Bags feels useless because Trauma always prevents you from healing up a lot of missing health. This feels mandatory.
  3. Stamina - It looks like Holly at some point lost her Stamina regen on kill, so swinging fire axes no longer feels infinite and you need melee damage to kill ridden in close range. Machete/Bat feels like infinite stamina with Meth Head/Adrenaline Fueled, but I'm not sure if I need other dmg + stamina cards to actually turn the Fire axe into a special ridden killing weapon again.
  4. Explosive Ridden - Honestly, between explosive ridden and how tanky special ridden are with needing damage AND stamina for swinging, I'm not sure if its even worthwhile to build for fire axes. I just can't avoid eating the explosion damage on these damn things unless using machete or bat.
  5. EMT Bag - I'm not sure if this is even worth taking. At one point, I recall that EMT bag did not work with cards like Vanguard, Face your Fears, etc. and I believe it did. Though the numbers have been reduced so much I'm not even sure if it does anything worthwhile.
  6. Damage Reduction - From what I recall, Holly used to have 10% dmg reduction and with all of the damage reduction cards it was super powerful, but I'm not sure if that's any good anymore. Picking up stuff like Spiky Bits, Motorcycle Helmet, Numb, etc.
  7. Fire Ridden - I very much remember that fire ridden were a huge pain in the ass, so I thought perhaps Cleansing Fire would be needed like Acid Ridden.
  8. Stumble - I vague recall that stumble was really powerful, but I can't recall how it functioned. Was it a build up mechanic? I see Heavy Hitter or Empowered Assault could be beneficial to special ridden, but without the stamina/damage to kill them, it seems like a wasted slot though could be excessively powerful. I don't know.
  9. Bolstered Health. Looking through the characters it seems like Sharice I think would be the best melee character now that Holly's been gutted. I thought EMT Bag + Vanguard would generate a bunch of temp HP, but I feel like it does nothing. Many times can never even make use of bolstered health because players almost always end up eating through all of their trauma before they can even build up temp hp buffer. I'm not sure if Fit as a Fiddle is even any good still.
  10. Trauma Resistance - I'm not even sure its worthwhile to add trauma resistance on a melee build if temp hp + dmg resistance should theoretically reduce / ignore most trauma creation. Along with Sharice adding armor plates for pick hits.

I've tried a few variations and while I personally feel often at least very tanky and sometimes able to go from like 60 hp -> 120hp in a couple of maps, the team utility out of a melee build feels almost worthless compared to picking up Admin Reload builds and just killing threats before it can reach teammates.

Question Question for multiplayer

I have tried running with randoms as some of the achievements I am farming require online mode from what I can find online; however, I Keltz running into folks who join and then run all the way back to the start.

Is there a reason people do that in certain levels? When three of us are at the safe room, it drives me batty watching their silhouette running backwards…

Strategy & Builds Converting Razor Wire Deck (Shooter) to Razor Wire (Melee)

I know this isn't the best build for NH but i like a challenge and I'm not finding/buying enough razor wire. I currently have a mixture of:
-Copper cards
-Re-Use Chance
-Damage cards that apply to Razor wire
-Dmg/ Trauma resistance.

I really want to include Mugger but I think i'll need to change to melee and I don't know much about this area. What cards should I swap out and include to help me with melee?
