Is Capital One in McLean the highest paying (cash comp) employer in the DMV?
I was casually looking and saw “Current Master’s - Data Science Internship…” offers $147k salary, of course that’d be prorated, but it implies the new Grad (Master grad) offer is at least $147k/year + sign on + performance bonus. If that’s how much new grads are getting paid, I can’t imagine how much C-level executives are getting paid!
What in the world?! Is there any other employer playing that much (or better) on cash comp in Nova?
Anyone know their interviews are?!

Looking for Arlington/Alexandria/DC reccs please.
My best friend broke up with her boyfriend and she’s visiting from NYC for a few days. She wants me to take her specifically to places with hot guys in their mid-20’s-30’s. I’ve been in a relationship for 2yrs so I haven’t really been in that scene for a while. Any suggestions?
Also, I’m well aware that any place will have a mix of different people, just thought the title would grab attention and those were her exact words

I never saw this in my home state, it wasn't until I got here. Even in places with heavier rain like Florida I haven't seen that. It's considered not safe and AAA said they should only be used in an emergency. In some states it's illegal.
If you're going to put your hazzards on then pull off the road or at least get out of the passing lane. It's confusing because some people think you're actually having an emergency and might pull off.
Hazzards shouldn't be on in the rain and I'll die on that hill.

Preferably closer to Oakton/Vienna~ but willing to drive further out
Is the school well run? Is admin well regarded? Is there a good community built up through a good culture? Are teachers happy?
Many thanks for your insights.

Me (early 30s F) looking for another lady to do full body workouts. I’m bored of being mushy because of office job. Down to get buff and lean! :)

Had an inspector flag high humidity in my crawl space recently, so I’m trying to figure out what a reasonable price point is for encapsulation in Fairfax before I start getting estimates.
Not really looking for contractor recommendations or promo plugs—just trying to get a realistic sense of what you paid for your project, what the scope was (sq footage / if you added a dehumidifier), and what felt like a fair price vs an obvious markup

Went to Philly this pass weekend and I had the salmon curry from Little Thai Market in Reading Terminal. Im looking for something similar because my toddler loved the dish.
Video of the dish:

Anyone know of a Thai restaurant around here that has something similar? Or, even better, does anyone know how they make it or have a copycat recipe?
Hey everyone,
I moved from Mumbai to Fairfax, Virginia few years back, and really want to bring Bappa home this year. Since it's my first time celebrating in the US, I'd love some advice:
1. Where do you buy idols? Are there local Indian grocers in Fairfax/Chantilly with eco-friendly clay murtis, or should I order online?
2. How do you handle Visarjan? Do most people just do a bucket immersion at home?
3. Pooja essentials & sweets: Where is the best place nearby for fresh flowers, and authentic modaks?
4. Rituals: Do you usually invite a priest over for the pooja, or do you do the rituals yourself?
Any tips or store recommendations would be awesome.
Ganpati Bappa Morya!

I’m recovering from an illness and want to gauge of how much it would be to hire a housekeeper. 800 sqft apartment, maybe every 2 weeks.
How much do you pay if you don’t mind sharing? Was Google your source when searching for a housekeeper?
ETA: how much were you charged for one time cleanings? I was charged $350 once and was told it’s because it was a non regular cleaning (that it would be cheaper if I had them come regularly). My place isn’t messy

There has been a homeless person on this corner for quite a while (apologies as they look androgynous so I am unsure of their gender) who has a large pile of things. I feel really awful that they are essentially out in the open. During the heat wave a few weeks ago I saw some fire fighters stop to give them Gatorade.
They don't seem threatening or anything - I'm not worried about them but rather for them as they have no shelter. Does anyone know them in the neighborhood, or know if they need help getting access to shelters, etc? It seems like such an awful situation that they have taken with relative grace from what I can tell.
Edit: should admit that despite being non threatening I am a little timid to approach them as I was assaulted by a homeless person for.

I’m trying to get a buy a firearm out of state but it would fall under the assault weapons ban because it will hold more than 15 rounds.

I bought a vehicle from used car dealer in Fredericksburg. I live Arlington.
The dealer contacted me and said i need to bring car back...he can't get my permanent plates because vehicle had not passed emissions inspection.
I financed vehicle.
Check engine light is on so car can't do emissions test.
Car is also not driveable, needs mechanical work.
What should i do ?

Hi everyone! I’m currently looking for a full-time healthcare position in Northern Virginia and wanted to see if anyone has any leads or connections.
I have experience working in plastic surgery and medical aesthetics, including patient coordination, scheduling, front desk operations, patient consultations, and supporting providers in fast-paced clinical settings. I’m also a Licensed Master Esthetician and am preparing to pursue a Nursing Degree in the future.
I’m especially interested in opportunities with private practices or hospitals, including Inova, to gain hands-on healthcare experience before nursing school. Some of the roles I’ve been applying for include Patient Access Representative, Front Desk/Patient Coordinator, Surgery Scheduler, Pre-Operative Coordinator, Surgical Coordinator, Clinical Technician, Medical Assistant, and similar patient-facing positions.
For reference, I live in Reston and am hoping to stay within about a 10-mile radius if possible.
If you know of any openings or have any contacts you’d be willing to share, I’d really appreciate it. Feel free to send me a DM, and I’d be happy to share my resume.
Thank you!

I’m looking for a lawyer to help with a situation involving an elementary school principal in Loudoun County, VA. Without getting into the details a principal abused my child. my heart has sank so low hearing my child everyday talk about how he felt when he was subjected to what he was. I feel helpless. Any complaints I’ve made to the county have gone no where.
My child deals with fears of returning to school and seeing the principal. Not looking to discuss the situation here - just seeking lawyer recommendations. I’ve already tried going through the school board and system.
My son needs help and I don’t know if I can pay for it out of pocket. Are there lawyers that will seek money from the school and if they win then they will get paid? Sorry I’ve never had to work with a lawyer and have always been under the radar.
My son is a good kid and has perfect grades. He has always received behavior and kindness awards. He doesn’t deserve what happened to him and someone who is in a trusted position abused it.
Thanks in advance.

Going to a Blippi show in November with my wife and 3 year old.
I have seats in center orchestra Row F 104-106.
My question regarding seats is do people need to stand up to let people pass?
Do they allow booster seats and is the seating sloped a bit like stadium?
Basically if my kid needs to get out can we move freely and can my son see the stage barring any tall giants sitting in front of us?
Thanks for your help

Is it just me, or do these big storms never materialize? I was looking at severe weather alerts all afternoon for Alexandria, and not even a drop of rain here. What gives?
edit: changed "bug" to big

So I went to the FCPS job fair this summer, spoke to some schools and had some interviews. I just got an email that the principal wants to talk to me again. I’ve never had two interviews before, is this a good sign?

Thinkin about buying property there but the low price for the amount of space makes me wonder if something is amiss about the crime/danger of the area. Anyone gots familiarity?
