News 📺 As assault trial looms for right-wing dipshit, prosecutors submit evidence he does it for the money
MINNEAPOLIS — A 36-year-old St. Cloud man's trial for assaulting several people in the Twin Cities is slated to begin next week and prosecutors plan to submit evidence that he has continued to harass people throughout the metro area.
Zak X is facing a misdemeanor assault charge for sucker punching a man in December 2025 at the Bishop Henry Whipple building and a felony assault charge for attacking a man during a Bloomington No Kings protest in March. The trials for both cases are scheduled for Monday.
X, who formerly changed his name from Zachary Allen Stumpf in 2024, is a right-wing agitator who is often seen around the metro area at various protests where he insults people and sexually harasses women.
***Cases numbers and links to court docs are in the article and here. I’ll be on and offline throughout the day so I won’t be able to respond right away but if you have any questions, please feel free to ask me.***

News 📺 VIDEO: US Sen. Bernie Sanders: ‘Billionaires can’t mobilize people, but we can’
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
US Senator Bernie Sanders says billionaires can spend countless amounts of money on winning political races, but they can’t mobilize people.
And that’s what he says Minnesotans need to do to have the DFL-endorsed candidate, Lt. Gov. Pegy Flanagan, win the US Senate race.
Sanders spoke at the “Many Over the Money” rally at First Ave on Monday, July 20 in support of Flanagan.

News 📺 MPR News: Some Canadian border crossings into MN and ND fell by about a third. We went to a Canada Day parade in Emerson, Manitoba to ask why some Canadians are staying home.
Reporter with MPR News here u/HarshawnRatanpal. We've been covering how the trade war and annexation rhetoric are playing out at the Minnesota and North Dakota border.
Some of what we found: crossings at Pembina and Lancaster dropped about a third last year in personal vehicles. One woman who grew up in Emerson, right across from Pembina, told us the two sides used to feel like one community and she can't remember the last time she crossed. Families that used to shop in Grand Forks now drive to Winnipeg instead, roughly the same distance.
The numbers have started rebounding this summer, but they're still below 2024. And more than half of Minnesota's international visitors come from Canada, so Explore Minnesota says the impact on businesses is noticeable, such as spring break traffic at the Mall of America.
Not everyone is staying away. Some told us family ties on both sides of the border outlast the politics.

News 📺 Bernie Sanders headlines First Avenue rally for Peggy Flanagan in contentious Senate race • Minnesota Reformer
"U.S. Rep. Angie Craig recently derided Lt. Gov. Peggy Flanagan, her rival in the Democratic primary for U.S. Senate, by saying America doesn’t need another Bernie Sanders in Congress.
The thousand people who packed into First Avenue Monday night to hear Sanders campaign for Flanagan loudly disagreed."

Seeking Advice 🙆 Minnesota home growers cannabis club
I would like to start to investigate interest of getting together as home growers of cannabis. The idea would be to share tip and to share knowledge about different growing styles and techniques. I am looking for a cannabis frendly space that we can sample each other's strains. I would also like to teach free classes to people about home growing and how to use the plant as medicine. The dream would be a community driven cannabis club! Edit to add metro to Norh metro would be best location but open.

Politics 👩⚖️ Peggy Flanagan should just flat out say "Fuck ICE!" at a rally!
I know she's criticized it but really should be more direct. Like just about every band I've seen the last few months has all been about saying "Fuck ICE!", if Motion City Soundtrack and Death Cab For Cutie can say it, why not a Senate candidate?
Another great touch would be if she wore that Dillinger 4 "Doublewhiskeycokefuckice" shirt.

Politics 👩⚖️ Get in kids! We’re going to Appleton!!!
Every Thursday 5:00-6:30 at the flags of honor site in Appleton MN.
For profit prisons make no sense. Why do we want companies in our counties and states that are incentivized to get more people in prisons? Lobbying for a police surveillance state, longer sentences, stricter enforcement policies, anything to fill their cages with our neighbors so we(the tax payers) can fill their pockets. Anyone driving out there this Thursday can organize rides here.

News 📺 Klobuchar, Schmitt Introduce Bipartisan Legislation to Protect Americans from Anticompetitive Tactics Monopolizing the Online Search Market
klobuchar.senate.gov“That is unacceptable. As Missouri’s Attorney General, I sued Google over its illegal online search monopoly and its efforts to crush competitors, as well as fought Big Tech companies’ collusion with left-wing organizations and the administrative state that censored conservatives. Now, I am proud to work with Senator Klobuchar to offer a bipartisan path to protect one of the key tenets of modern American society: free speech online.” -Eric Schmidt (R-MO)
Klobuchar is joining forces with the "Google is too woke" crowd so that MAGA can control online search results under the guise of increasing market competition and breaking up monopolies. Google being a monopoly is one thing, but this legislation will be used for one purpose and that is clearing the way for MAGA censorship and propaganda to dominate online search results. I'm just truly at a loss with this one. She's not acting like someone trying to run a gubernatorial campaign during an election year.

News 📺 Trial begins Monday for woman who called Black child a racial slur in Rochester
Money quote:
Walé Elegbede, Rochester NAACP chapter president, said everyone should pay attention to the Hendrix trial.
“It really talks about the fabric of society that we live in,” said Elegbede, who is running for Rochester mayor. “If we want a society where we have freedoms, where we have love and respect for one another, we can't have adults going about traumatizing children. We just can't have that.”
