Howdy! Considering a move at the end of the year and wanted to know if it's possible to sign a December 1st or December 15th lease? I've lived in Maine before (also MA, CA, GA, TX, etc.) and a problem I ran into in the colder states is that most apartments wouldn't advertise vacancies or let you move out from October to February.

I've lived in Jax pretty much my whole life outside of a year long college stint in NE Tennessee and I hate it here. Access to green space within the city and any of the following in and around the metro: Hiking, mountain biking (xc/flowy - not into super technical collarbone braking tracks), would love to get into skiing/snowboarding (also more leisure/moderate), snow/true winter, woods and forests etc.

Walkability and transit - i want to at the most be car lite Being able to walk, bike or use transit to access most things on a regular basis is a priority. Keeping a car for occasional use - especially for nature road trips is ideal.

Museums and other cultural institutions - a few really good art and science museums (quality over quantity), theater scene and orchestra.

Also kind of random but I've heard that Minneapolis is a good place for an geoscientist/environmental specialist for career stability and opportunity.

Hi, so I’m supposed to do an exchange semester at the University of Minnesota (Carlson School of Management).
I’m a brown guy from Milan, Italy. I wanted to ask if the place (uni, city, etc.) is safe for me as I have heard recent news about crime in the area. Should I come? My exchange semester would take place from January to May 2027. The thing is I’m worried cause I look very brown as both of my parents have indian origins (I often get mistaken for latino/north african) and I don’t know how minorities are treated there. Also, is there a lot to do? Would u recommend it?

Me and my future fiancé are planning on moving to the Minneapolis / St. Paul region next July. we have been looking around for the last 6 months or so.

A little background… I’m from southern California, she is from South East Wisconsin, we both currently live in the mid Atlantic coastal region. But Ive never lived in the snow, most I’ve had is a foot over the whole season and that was a one off and was melted before the end of the week.

I‘ve gotten a rough idea of what we mostly should expect and will need, partly because she grew up in the cold and my own research. Snow gear, a good car with winter tires, ect.

What are some things we should know about the area around Minneapolis that I won’t find in a YouTube video from a realtor? Whats coming up in local politics that might affect us coming in, places we should avoid living, things like that. I’m mainly thinking of being somewhere between Southwest and Northwest (Shakopee to Maple Grove).

I am going to move to MN for my job next months and I've been lookong at apartments. The most reasonably(?) priced I found was the Oaks of Lakeville but I've read some terrible reviews about them. Do you know anything about the place? I'd like to hear your opinions and also other suggestions if you have them? I was born & raised there but left in 2006. I’m moving back before the end of this year. New job new life, old hometown. In my 20s & 30s I lived in vintage apartments and brownstones in Uptown, the Wedge and Northeast.
I’d like to try living in a modern, contemporary high rise RENTAL apartment downtown or near downtown. I’ve toured a few of them and I’m intrigued. Wondering if anyone here has experience with any of them (there’s so many - the market seems saturated) and can share info - what’s it like, what to watch out for, what’s amazing, what’s not. Any feedback about any specific buildings would be cool. Real facts from anyone with lived experience would be awesome.

I’m a solo female of color, educator, in my 50s. No pets/kids. Make decent money but not rich. Need covered/garage/secure parking. Would love laundry in unit, some amenities, and a chill, adult professional environment that’s safe and well managed. Looking to try this for at least a year.

Hey everyone. Moving out to Minneapolis in about a month. I don’t really have much insight into the city/neighborhoods, currently live across the country but looking to make some viewing appointments and visit the city in a couple of weeks. Really prefer these things more than others:

- An area that is safe and walkable. I have a medium sized dog that I like to walk early in the AM and late in the PM. Nearby parks are a huge plus, especially with walking trails.
- Would like to be an area that is a bit lively/active street life. Would like to be close to or within an area with divey/local bars, comedy shows, trivia, music/arts, restaurants, etc that I don’t have to drive to.
- I love using public transit for getting around so being close to that would be a plus, especially ones that go to the north loop and northeast areas.
- Looking to rent for now. Prefer an apartment with good amenities. However, wouldn’t mind condo/house/townhome etc if the area they’re in better fit the above.

Looking for something in an area in the attached pic as I’ll be working predominantly in the Edina/Armatage/Richfield area. Budget is up to 2k for a 1 bedroom.

If anyone has any recommendations for an area that fits some/all of those, even if it’s an area not in the pic but nearby, I’d really appreciate it. If anyone has specific names of apartments they’ve lived in, would be great so I can reach out to them and set up an appointment.

A friend of a relative will rent me his apt in Grant Park building in downtown (Elliot park) Minneapolis.

Furnished. 1 Bd. 950sq. Building has all amenities, and utilities come down to 25ish $ a month. He is still thinking about the rent he will charge but promised to offer something cheaper than the area.

I accepted a position at a downtown hospital in St.Paul! I'm flexible when it comes to living in Minneapolis v. St. Paul. I will say when weI visited in April I did not spend nearly as much time in SP. We'd like to move in August and looking for:

House, rent 3k/mo max, 2 bedrooms and bathrooms min, 1500sqft min, a garage would be nice, close to the light rail (10-15 walk) not a requirement, must allow my little bird. We've used zillow,trulia, etc with no luck.

We're late 30s/early 40s love a good dive bar, music, food, adventure, we're pretty eclectic. We don't need to be right in action but a stones throw away works. I'm Black and my fiancé is white so diversity matters.
