Warning about local musician

Upvotes

Hello, I've been searching for a place to post something like this.

I was raped by Alexander Craig "Crankshaft" when he visited to play at a bar in my home town. This took place April 11. I've lost hope on how to go about this, I feel like there's no right way to respond to something like rape. I got a rape kit but I was too scared to file a police report.

Oy! Impatient Grey SUV Driver Who Was Road Raging At My Teen On His Bike - Piss off!

My 16 year old was biking eastbound on Minnehaha Parkway doing 20+ mph, and he was tailgated by a grey SUV honking its horn, and then passed WAY too closely on an already narrow street. That road has a speed limit for 20 mph, so if being restricted to the speed limit by a kid on a bike is enraging to you, I suggest you reexamine your priorities and values.

Oh, and fuck off. I like my kid.

Cute Saturday Date Locales

Upvotes

Hey gang, 35M from STP here looking for a few reccommendations for an upcomming weekend date with my girlfriend (33F) and would be so grateful for any and all ideas put forward. I'm a homebody and only somewhat recently started making enough money to get out and about more regularily so my bag of fun tricks is pretty sparse.

Some notes:

  1. Neither of us are drinkers so no big, noisy bars please.

  2. Looking for a cute but not too garish dinner spot, preferably in stp since I want to take her on a little walk down by the river afterwards if the weather is nice.

  3. Places *not* to reccomend as we've been there on dates before: Cosetta's, Sawatdee, Sweeny's.

Thanks everyone and I can't wait to see what people come up with!

Recently moved away from my hometown and this will be my first time paying for a haircut since both my mom and my sister are hairdressers. Don’t wanna spend too much, just looking to get a trim.

Medtronic calling almost 1,000 remote workers back to the office

I don’t know if this will make the news, but Medtronic is requiring almost 1,000 designated remote workers in Minnesota to return to the office on November 2. With all the layoffs and restructuring we’ve had in the past couple years, leadership is probably hopeful that a certain percentage choose to quit so that the next round of layoffs can save on severance payouts.

Last year thousands of hybrid workers had to return to in person work at Medtronic. This is phase two of turning the screws on employees. And like last round, many of these people don’t need to be in the office to do their job as their work is done on virtual meetings with global teams. It’s very sad that companies insist on people driving to the office for no reason in a summer when the impacts of climate change are heavy in the air we breathe.

Low-Cost Veterinary Care?

Does anyone know of a low cost vet in the SW metro area? My daughter’s bestie’s beloved cat is having issues and her parents can’t afford to get him checked out at normal rates.

Tax person recommendations - buying first home, roomies renting rooms

I am buying my first home in St. Paul because of Unfortunate Landlord Shenanigans, and my 2 long-time roomies will be rooming with me. I would like recommendations for tax folks (or resources that you use) who have experience with owner-occupied homes with lodgers (the technical term). Ive learned that certain repairs and improvements can be written off, while others cannot, and that the rental income counts as supplemental income, and it's making my head spin. I've done my taxes on my own for eons, but I'm hoping that guidance from/paying reliable, knowledgeable professionals will save me more money than doing so on my own.

My roommates would like rental agreements (as would I) so they continue to have rental history, so please no suggestions about doing things under the table

If there's a better reddit community to put this to, let me know!

District 2 primary

Hey all,

Just curious where everyone is leaning for the primary this year with US Rep District 2. I know Kaela Berg, Matt Little, and Matthew Klein are top 3 contenders, but honestly they are all running on same platforms from what I can tell.

Any insight or anything that sways you one way or another?
