things to do in EP with a toddler / nb??
Brand new to the area and will be on maternity leave until mid september. Would love to get out of the house and make the most of my time 'off' with my toddler (2) and our newborn. Looking for music classes, playgrounds, all the things to keep my toddler entertained and keep me from going stir crazy.
Also ok if not in Eden Prairie but the surrounding metro / downtown.
Things already on the list:
- Como Park Zoo / Toddler Thursdays
- Eden Prairie Library
- Scheels

Pickleball leagues
I'm new to area but would love to find some people to play pickleball with. Are there any leagues or scheduled pickup games anywhere other than Lifetime?

To parents with sick kids
Please don’t bring them to crowded indoor places like movie theaters.
I saw a movie at the mall yesterday, and I had to ditch my popcorn before the previews were done. The kids in next to me were obviously sick. They coughed, sneezed, and blew their nose the entire movie.
I’m not trying to be a jerk because being a parent isn’t easy, but please stay home next time instead of spreading it to everyone in the theater. It’s also just not a great movie experience for everyone around you.
Feel free to delete this if I’m breaking any community rules.

New to Eden Prairie Resources!
This one is a very much self-interested post, but also trying to help out the community, a pinned "New to Eden Prairie" post for useful resources I think could be great (and for me to learn what I'm missing).
Some of the obvious ones would be the EP Local News, some highlights of city resources. And maybe some good FB Groups? Like the local Buy Nothing? And I know nothing about the schools in detail except they're good. Resources for homeowners/renters? Good local blogs/people to follow? Restaurant recs besides just looking on Yelp? Particular annual/semi-annual events of note?
What else should a new resident to EP know, and be aware of? And subscribe/join to stay aware?

What kind of content do people want to see?
Figured it'd be helpful to start a thread for what kind of content might be useful to auto post to the this sub, or just in general!
Some ideas that I have, though I don't want to turn the sub into a glorified email subscription:
- EP Local News
- Indivisible EP
- City Manager Friday Reports
On the one hand, not every article (EPLN has like four a day, it'd overwhelm this slow of a sub pretty fast), but maybe the weekly round up? Or other resources for keeping up? I could set up a bot to post each week for the roundup for discussion and awareness.

Is Purgatory Creek between Staring lake and the Minnesota River navigable?
Is this a route that could be taken via paddleboard or kayak?

Volleyball programs for teens?
I’m a 15 year old girl who goes to EPHS, i haven’t played a sport yet and have a large interest in volleyball. I’m looking for any camps or summer training programs for beginners that accept teens my age. Even if I don’t make the sophomore team I still would like to try but I haven’t found anywhere that will teach a kid my age with almost no experience at all.

Jobs for a 15 year old
Looking for recommendations for my 15 year old son. He can work part-time between the hours of 5-9 M-F and open availability on the Weekend. We live near the high school, so something close would be preferred.
He has already applied at Kowalski's and Chik-Fil-A. Kowalski's has not responded via email or returned calls in over a week and Chik-Fil-A stated they are only hiring 16 year Olds currently.
Is there anywhere else nearby, or even within a few mile radius of the high school? We are trying Cub Foods and McDonald's today, but would love some more suggestions.

Rifle Range
Can anyone recommend a nice rifle range closest to EP? At least 100 yards would be good, but I’ll take 50

D&D Newbie Sessions Meetup Group - New Events!
Hi everyone, my name is Sam and I run a community organization called D&D Newbie Sessions. We're all about learning D&D in a welcoming and friendly environment. All are welcome and no previous D&D experience is necessary! Games are run virtually online via Discord and Astral Tabletop. It's a lot of fun and a safe way to socialize, especially as the weather turns cold. Anyone from the Twin Cities area is welcome to join.
Our latest event has just been posted and plenty more will being coming each and every month. You can RSVP here on Meetup: https://www.meetup.com/Minneapolis-Dungeons-Dragons-Newbie-Sessions/events/274081405/
Games can fill up pretty fast, but I recommend RSVPing anyway because waitlists can move around quite a bit.
We also train new dungeon masters as well. If you've ever wanted to learn how to DM, you can RSVP to the DM training event as well: https://www.meetup.com/Minneapolis-Dungeons-Dragons-Newbie-Sessions/events/273711536/
Thanks for reading and I hope to see you there!
Sam

Free indoor running/walking for winter?
Does the highschool or community center or any other EP facility offer a free indoor or domed running track? I can't seem to find this information and I am new to town. Bonus points if you know if it is still available this winter despite COVID
