GOOD SPORT is an R-rated youth sports comedy playing at Mann Theatres Edina August 13–20.

Think The Mighty Ducks meets Hoosiers with an R-rated comedy twist. The film was shot in West Saint Paul with local crew and actors, and the filmmakers grew up here.

Synopsis: Pat is having a bad, bad day. His ex-wife is about to get remarried, he’s hungover, and now he has to coach his 12-year-old son’s basketball team. Along the way, he faces helicopter parents, an insane opposing coach, and his own sense of failure.

If you're looking for a fun movie or want to support a Minnesota-made independent film, we'd love to have you there!

Seeking Advice 🙆 How do I find pancake breakfasts?

I know they’re out there. I’m talking PTAs. School Band Boosters. Scouts. Church Men’s Clubs. Groups in Saint Paul selling pancakes for fundraisers.

I want pancakes. They got them. How do I find?

Food 🍔 Cathedral Hill Restaurant

Hello!

I'm looking for dinner recommendations in the Cathedral Hill neighborhood. We're hoping for somewhere with great food and a fun atmosphere, but nothing too fancy.

What we really enjoy are places with character—unique buildings, interesting menus, and memorable ambiance. Being within walking distance of The New Victorian Mansion would be a bonus, but we're happy to drive if it's worth it.

So far, Moscow on the Hill and The Parlour are under consideration, but I'd love a few more options to share with my dining companion.

Thanks in advance!

Edit to add: We are only going out for dinner as we will be in a different area early in the day. We are staying at a B & B so will eat breakfast there and then head out of town. Just a very quick visit! Based on all the recs, we will have to return for another visit!

Seeking Advice 🙆 St. Paul Schools

Post image

I need opinions on schools in the St. Paul district.

I’m moving from Nebraska to Minneapolis in a few weeks, and have a substitute job lined up. They’re asking for full-time building subs in the St. Paul District.. as someone who has 0 knowledge of the area, can anyone advise me on which ones to avoid?

I’ve worked with some pretty poorly behaved kids before and it’s been alright, so I’m not THAT picky… just don’t want to commit to a school that ends up being a nightmare. Thanks in advance!

Just moved to this area and xfinity is absolute GARBAGE over here! My partner WFH and the wifi has been going in and out during the work week and weekends. We are getting really frustrated! My partner has called xfinity multiple times and they have done nothing to solve the issue. Anyhow, what wifi carriers do you guys use and find to be helpful, and that doesn't go out daily? Please help!

Discussion 🎤 140 Minnesotans need us to stand together. Tell Mayor Kaohly Her to delay the homeless sweep on August 5, 2026!!!

On July 8th, Mayor Her set a deadline to clear 140 unhoused neighbors out of Pig’s Eye Park. Many of these folks are Hmong themselves, just like Mayor Her.

Remember how Minnesotans stepped up and united for our neighbors during Metro Surge?

That neighborly empathy can't stop at the unhoused.

We are not asking for continued violence in our communities. We are asking for more time to plan, support, and transition people who need patience, care, and actual housing—not forced removal.

We need folks to SUBMIT A PUBLIC COMMENT urging the city of St. Paul to stop the Pig’s Eye Park eviction!

Seeking Advice 🙆 Apartment hunting!

I'm currently apartment hunting and hoping to find a place in St. Paul (Cathedral Hill, Summit Hill, Highland Park, or nearby neighborhoods).

My budget is around $1,000–$1,500/month. I'm open to a studio or 1-bedroom if it's in a great neighborhood.
The challenge I'm running into is that many apartments are either managed by companies with consistently poor reviews, have income restrictions, or are listed as "cats only." I have one cat and a documented emotional support dog, so that has made the search a bit more complicated.

If anyone knows of any private landlords or property management companies they've had a genuinely good experience with, I'd really appreciate any recommendations. Thank you!

Seeking Advice 🙆 Favorite eclectic clothes stores for men (for more than just standard normal wear)

My boyfriend is coming to visit in a week and over the past 6 months I've lost about 40 lbs so I need a new wardrobe. I have enough free t-shirts to choke a mule, but I'd like some nicer eclectic stuff since I have some very eccentric friends I go to nerdy conventions with and their borderline cosplay outfits look so fun!

I also have a lot of really funky and eccentric high-quality women's clothes I could see about trading in as my mom passed away a few months ago, but that's not a BIG priority.

Politics 👩‍⚖️ A Shocking Vote By Betty McCollum On Israel.

Shocking vote by Betty on aid to Israel. And added a salt to injury by attacking colleagues. She voted “present” rather than “no”. In her press release she touted how she voted “against” the Massie amendment. She called majority of her colleagues “Trump’s isolationist. ••• She’s the top ranking Democrat in the Defence appropriations committee, the weapons’ manufacturers got her.

Betty thinks the amendment is broad and may cut “vital assistance” to Palestinians. She thinks Palestinians would rather prefer to be bombed, if that will threaten their chances of receiving blankets and biscuits. She thinks high of peacekeeping programs by NGOs that bring Palestinians and Israelis together. None of it stops the losses of lands and deaths.

Betty thinks she can condition the use of the money and prohibit it from being spent on detention of Palestinians in the West Bank. Money is fungible and Israel will not budge. The aid will free their own money to harm Palestinians.

Betty is a seventy two years old boomer. She is in Congress for 25 years. She doesn’t get it nor will ever will.

I don't know... maybe replace with aluminum, or SEND PEOPLE TO PRISON?

News 📺 Ramsey County Commissioner Garrison McMurtrey statement on encampment closures

Thumbnail facebook.com
22 Upvotes

Post from Garrison McMurtrey, Ramsey County Commissioner District 3.

Today I visited the Pig's Eye encampment because I wanted to see firsthand the work happening on the ground and better understand the challenges our neighbors, in the encampments, are facing. What I saw reinforced something we already know: too many people have been failed by systems that should have prevented them from ending up in this situation. And while the decision to close the encampments was made by the City of Saint Paul, Ramsey County continues to be at the table, working every day to ensure those impacted have access to coordinated outreach, essential supplies, housing navigation, behavioral health services, and financial assistance. Moving forward, the city, county, state, and our community partners must continue to work with urgency, compassion, and collaboration. We have a shared responsibility to make sure our neighbors know they are not alone—that we see them, we value their humanity, and we have their backs. If you know someone experiencing homelessness and in need of housing support services, please encourage them to contact Ramsey County's Single Point of Entry at 651-266-1050.
