Light MBTI Discussion Is Fi about a strong moral code or about knowing your own opinion/feelings on something?

6 Upvotes

I feel like I’ve heard it described both ways, so I’m a bit confused

Like could someone who has strong principles and morals but can struggle to know their own feelings sometimes, can be easily influenced by group sentiment, or can be in denial that they feel a certain because admitting the feeling would be painful way likely to still be Fi dom, or is that not very likely?

Follow up question: is that person likely/unlikely to be Ti dom?

For me, I hate to see people regarding INTJs as cold souless beings, specially them not being "kind" to one another. I guess that takes the toll of typing (and often mistyping) evil villains as INTJs every single time 😭

About this Community Complement vs Match relationship philosophy

3 Upvotes

When people think about what type they should be in a relationship with, they should ask themselves whether they’d prefer someone who complements their functions or someone who matches their functions.

A complement is someone who uses your subconscious functions. Maybe you like that they’re challenging you to become a more rounded person, or maybe you were raised to value those functions more than your own conscious functions. A mirror is someone who uses the same conscious functions, or maybe has the same dominant functions. I don’t think that one is necessarily better or worse than the other. I prefer complement relationships, but I have a lot of friends who find more stability in mirrored relationships.

I’m an ESFJ (30F) engaged to an INTJ (30M). My INTJ was raised Mormon, and so culturally he places a premium on Fe style traits in others. He’s since left the church, but he seeks Fe in others because his Fi learned from an early age to value Fe.

I was raised by a (frankly misogynistic) ISTP father who would only allow rationality in the house. He completely disavowed his own inferior Fe, and would verbal and emotional abuse me basically if I wasn’t using Ni/Ti. I’d say my Ni is still fairly weak, but my Ti is decent compared to a lot of other Fe doms. But I prioritize NT behaviors in others, and have almost exclusively dated INTXs.

When looking for your next relationship try to ask yourself, does it sounds like I prefer my own functions or are there some reasons I prefer the polarity of my subconscious functions?

MBTI Meme What's your Muppet MBTI?

Thumbnail gallery
6 Upvotes

My friend sent me the KAFG Muppet personality chart because she’s an INFJ. Naturally, as an INTJ, I decided the only reasonable response was to overanalyze the Muppets and build my own.

Apparently, I’m a BSRG:

Bunsen Honeydew — visionary and analytical, with questionable awareness of collateral damage.
Sam the Eagle — principled, blunt, and silently judging the conversation.
Rizzo the Rat — independent, strategic, and usually looking out for himself.
Gonzo — weird, unapologetic, and completely uninterested in anyone’s approval.

So now I’m curious: What four Muppets make up your personality type, and why?

Accuracy is optional. Unnecessarily detailed psychological analysis is encouraged.

Survey / Poll / Question Alguém pra fazer amizade?

Upvotes

Light MBTI Discussion ISFPs and social interactions

Upvotes

As an ISFP, I am really quiet and observant and shy, not the really loud outgoing type BUT I enjoy social interactions over interesting games, usually board/card games (like uno) or games that focus on people and guessing their motives (like mafia or any detective game). I feel like if I am interested in the activity itself, then I am definitely 10x more social, I could play such games even with strangers for hours and still not get tired. Bonus points if there is coffee or food too haha. Relatable?

I guess some INTPs would relate to this as well but in their case they'd enjoy abstract discussions about topics they are interested in, not sensory things like games they enjoy (except computer games if we are being a little stereotypical lol).

‘change’ their viewpoint because someone they respect has that viewpoint?

to be very specific, it’s kind of like this: this person has an opinion on something. it can be anything, from movie opinions to judgment of certain actions. this person is very opinionated, and often calls people dumb inside their head when they say something they disagree with. depending on the subject, they even argue about it. now let’s say the person sees tweets on their timeline. people are tweeting things they completely disagree with. some they find dumb, some they find offensive, some they find just illogical. then they see a friend they respect a lot—one they genuinely think highly of—tweeting the same thing. suddenly, they are willing to change their mind. and i don’t mean they got more information because of that friend and the information itself change their mind, because if that information had come from someone they don’t respect, they would likely just ignore it or even think it’s irrelevant information.

to be fair, this doesn’t apply to politics or anything very serious, it’s really just dumb discussions like whether or not reading comics count as reading a book or whether or not backrooms was a good movie.

my friend said this is just “caring enough about your friends to try and understand their point of view” and that “that wouldn’t have happened if someone else had said it because you simply don’t care about them”. it made sense to me, but also got me wondering which type or function is more likely to do that... just because typology is an hyperfixation of mine so of course i link it to things from daily life.

Deep Theory Analysis Do you think there are magnitudes of the strength of functions

Eg. higher Se meaning faster reaction time, etc.

Which makes me wonder what stronger Ni would be. Would it look like the 'insights' you get on a shrooms trip?

Light MBTI Discussion My intp turned into a infp?

0 Upvotes

I would say intp is accurate to me still, I think my feelings in certain moments in time happen to change my results. I might also have brain problems so who knows maybe it changed my personality 😂 is it normal for your personality type to change on occasion? I read upon infp and it also extremely much so relates to me. Who knows 🤷‍♂️ I wanna know if this is a common phenomenon or a possibility.

Light MBTI Discussion MBTI is flawed but not totally useless - anyone agree?

20 Upvotes

MBTI isn't the most scientific theory of personality, but it still describes individual differences between people fairly accurately. Even ignoring sites like 16 Personalities that just give you a Big 5 test with MBTI labels.
No theory of personality is perfect, there are many ways to describe people, so even if MBTI isn't the best theory out there, having another slightly different way to describe people is useful, right?

Celebrity/Character ZUKO Mbti ATLA

1 Upvotes

In your opinion, what is Zuko’s MBTI type in Avatar: The Last Airbender? ISFP, INFP, INTJ or INFJ?

Hi everyone,

I have a question regarding Zuko’s MBTI typing in Avatar: The Last Airbender. On PDB (Personality Database), he is mostly typed as ISFP, but I have also seen several people argue for INFP or INFJ. Personally, I find some of the arguments for an intuitive type quite interesting, although I am not entirely convinced and I am still learning about cognitive functions.

At first glance, I understand why many people see him as an ISFP: his journey is deeply centred around identity, personal values, and discovering what truly matters to him. However, I wonder whether his cognitive process really fits Fi-Se, or whether Fi-Ne-Si, or even Ni-Fe, might explain him better.

Arguments for ISFP (Fi-Se-Ni)

The main argument in favour of ISFP is that Zuko appears to be driven by one central value: honour. For a large part of the series, he pursues one concrete goal: regaining his place beside his father and restoring his status.

Some people argue that this fits a Se-Ni dynamic better than Ne-Si. Both ISFPs and INFPs have dominant Fi, so both can be highly idealistic, but in different ways:

  • Ne explores different possibilities and imagines multiple potential paths.
  • Se observes what is directly present in the environment and acts based on available concrete information.

With Zuko, many of his strategies seem to rely on what he directly observes:

  • using the sea creatures to enter the Northern Water Tribe;
  • using the smoke from his ship to mislead Zhao;
  • using elements available in his surroundings to create practical plans.

This could be interpreted as a form of Se rather than Ne.

Another argument against INFP is that Zuko often struggles to consider alternative possibilities. Even when Iroh suggests that his destiny might be different, Zuko remains focused on one single path: capturing the Avatar. He seems to need direct experience before he can question his beliefs, which could fit more with a Se-Ni axis.

Arguments for INFP (Fi-Ne-Si)

On the other hand, many people see a Fi-Ne-Si dynamic in him.

His journey is deeply shaped by an identity crisis: “Who am I really?” and “What kind of person do I want to become?” He is not only trying to achieve an external goal; he is trying to understand his own values.

His attachment to the past can also be interpreted through Si:

  • his trauma surrounding his banishment;
  • his obsession with what he has lost;
  • his constant comparison with his father and his family legacy.

Some people argue that he could be stuck in a Fi-Si loop: trapped in past wounds and in the image he has of himself, until he manages to build a more authentic identity.

His time as “Lee”, when he lives a quieter life with Iroh at the tea shop, is also often mentioned as a moment where he appears more genuine and less restricted by the role he believes he has to play.

Arguments against INFJ (Ni-Fe-Ti-Se)

I can also understand why some people suggest INFJ, especially because of his obsession with destiny, meaning, and personal transformation.

Zuko interprets many things through symbolic ideas:

  • honour;
  • destiny;
  • his role in history;
  • the question of who he is meant to become.

His journey can therefore resemble a Ni process: he searches for a deeper truth behind events and gradually develops a new understanding of himself.

His need for external approval can also resemble Fe:

  • he wants recognition from his father;
  • he seeks Iroh’s validation;
  • he questions whether he deserves his place among others.

However, I struggle with the idea of dominant Ni. Zuko rarely seems to have a clear long-term vision or an intuitive understanding of future trajectories. He appears to learn mostly through experience and mistakes. Iroh, for example, seems much closer to a developed Ni user in the way he understands consequences and broader patterns.

My personal hesitation

I find it difficult to decide because Zuko is a character heavily affected by trauma. A large part of his behaviour probably comes from his environment, upbringing, and internal struggles, which can make his natural functions harder to identify.

I understand the ISFP arguments: his attachment to a core value, his action-oriented nature, and his concrete relationship with the world are convincing.

I also understand the INFP arguments: his identity search, introspection, relationship with the past, and moral development seem compatible with Fi-Ne-Si.

Regarding INFJ, I find some aspects interesting (search for meaning, destiny, inner transformation), but I am less certain that his primary functions truly match Ni-Fe, especially because he seems to display a very strong Fi.

So, in your opinion, which type fits Zuko best: ISFP, INFP, or INFJ?

What specific behaviours or scenes from the series do you think reveal his cognitive functions the most?

Survey / Poll / Question Idea for INTP Character Arc

What might be a good arc of an INTP who has never been annoyed or sarcastic with ANY human because they say, and I quote, "getting annoyed of anyone comes from the premise of unconscious bias and incomplete awareness when evaluating and attempting to solve problems or build models"? 😏

Light MBTI Discussion Vibe coding has made ENxPs OVERPOWERED AS HELL

0 Upvotes

Before the AI/Claude/whatever was a thing, ENxPs had a hard time finishing projects because finishing means putting up with tedious syntax, debugging, verification, etc. But nowadays, Fable 5 may very well be the most OP tool when it comes to developing new apps and innovations. Now imagine ENxPs developing a fully open-world website operating system or an abandoned hospital escape video game that also works as a clinical simulator. The possibilities are endless and ENxPs are pretty much BROKEN in this AI era. Just write a prompt and boom, 2000 ideas are ready hooray
