Update:
Time and again people ask why does this subreddit not have a logo. When told that this community is largely apathetic towards the issue, evident by the lack of response to multiple requests/reminders in this regard, many folks don't really believe it and keep on asking to set something or anything as a logo, icon, dp, pfp or whatever.
Well, here's your chance to make it happen. Create and share what you wish to see as this subreddit's logo. The logo should be a 256x256 px JPG or PNG image and work well when printed in colour or B&W. Ideally, it should serve as an easy identifier when used as a placard for r/Lucknow meetups or other promotional purposes. Upload your creation to any image hosting site (e.g. Imgur, Imgbox, PostImages, etc. or even your own reddit profile) and post the direct image link as a top level comment in this thread or send it via modmail.
Please note that this is an entirely volunteer-driven activity where you come up with a logo only because you want your beloved community to have one and not because you expect anything in return. Any poll will always include a "None of the above (NOTA)" option for those who don't like any of the available logo choices or feel that r/Lucknow doesn't need a logo as such. Entries with a vote share lesser than NOTA will be eliminated from subsequent polls.
Fresh polls will be conducted as and when a bunch of newer logo options get accumulated. This section will track all the voting links / results until a logo wins the poll:
Poll #1: Voting over, results here.
Poll #2: Voting over, results here.
Poll #3: Voting over, results here.
Poll #4: TBA
(Original post)
Hello nawabs and begums of r/Lucknow,
This is in continuation to the previous announcement which was posted on the occasion of r/Lucknow's 11th birthday.
The topic of this subreddit's logo has been brought up multiple times in the past but there's been no progress and we remain logo-less. Now with 100K subscribers milestone just around the corner, it's high time to tackle this lingering issue once and for all.
As mentioned earlier, the logo should be of 256x256 px size and work well when printed in colour or B&W. Ideally, it should serve as an easy identifier when used as a placard for r/Lucknow meetups or other promotional purposes. Please upload your creation to any image hosting site (e.g. Imgur, Imgbox, etc. or even your own reddit profile) and post the direct image link as a top level comment in this thread or send it via modmail.
r/Lucknow has 97.4K subscribers at the time of writing this post. Once we cross 99K, a compiled list of all the relevant logo options received till then will be posted in a separate thread and put to vote for finalizing one. The selected choice will be set as logo at the time of r/Lucknow's 100K milestone announcement post.
Please note that this is an entirely volunteer-driven activity where you come up with a logo only because you want your beloved community to have one and not because you expect anything in return. The final voting will also include a NOTA option for those who like the way things are and don't feel the need for any logo as such.
Thank you!
Edit: Time is up. Thread is locked. Voting is live.
Edit 2: Voting over, results here. Thread unlocked for accepting more logo options by volunteers.
Edit 3: See the update section above.

Soon visiting Lucknow so kindly suggest your favorite Lucknow Mutton Biryani/Yakhni Gosht Pulao spots ✌️
Heard of Naushijaan, Sakhawat, Alamgir Hotel !! ( Are any of these good? )
Latest reviews let me know if possible, I’ve heard some popular biryani restaurants aren’t serving good biryani anymore and are just riding on their reputation

As someone born and brought up in the city for a good 30 years, I've come to one pretty uncomfortable but honest observation about the city - We are way too overprotective and hypocrite about our tehzeeb culture. Every other day I see comments complaining how 'Ab woh tehzeeb nahi rahi' and blaming their easiest target 'Purvanchalis' and 'new generation' for their cultural erosion. Let's be honest about a few things -
1. Lko has been a Tier 2 city way too long, it never got the IT boom exposure which leads to immigrants and hence influx of different cultures and demography.
2. The stagnancy helped in preserving the beautiful Ganga-Jamuni tehzeeb and adab that still defines this wonderful city.
3. As people around UP have started earning, of course they will move to a bigger city (in this case Lucknow).
4. People here are unfortunately so hypocrite and insensitive to other cultures, labelling them similar to how we 'UP-Biharis' get labelled in Maharashtra and Karnataka.
5. Either you should be confident of your culture and accept change while trying to blend others within yourself, or just stop cribbing for God's sake bcz the city is not your private yard. Ask yourself and your family not to shift to bigger cities (Delhi, Blr, Pune) and instead stay here as the 'cultural gatekeepers'.
6. Lastly, with social media influencers there is an exaggeration of 'Amma Lucknow aao' and Awadhi culture. Lko is great but not as great as you love to portray it.
Thanks!

First time in Lucknow and I'm trying to understand what people actually pay for domestic help locally.
Online guides show wildly different numbers (₹8k vs ₹18k for similar roles). I lived in Delhi and have relatives in Lucknow, but that's only a few data points.
If you're comfortable sharing (anonymous is fine):
- City + locality/colony
- Part-time / full-time / live-in
- Duties (clean, cook, both, childcare)
- Approx monthly pay in 2026
- Optional: did you negotiate up/down vs what neighbors pay?
I'll compile and share a simple summary back here if there's enough interest.
Would a locality-wise salary guide have been useful before you hired?

Guys, I work remotely and have been doing this for around more than two years now. As exciting as it sounds, it also gets boring just being in your room working. And also makes you really lazy in the long run.
I am looking for cafes, because co-working spaces sound expensive and not so fun. A cafe where I can just walk in with my laptop, order a coffee and a sandwich and just spend hours working at one of the tables with good wifi. Have you all tried this and can you recommend places if you know any?

I was on my way to Chowk from Hussainganj around 11 pm and on the bridge saw a huge crowd gathered.
from what I heard some Thar driver had hit a bike rider but don't know what happened afterwards and haven't seen posts about it online.
She's going to prepare for a competitive exam so she won't be able to join a regular university.
So is there any university affiliated to central university ( BBAU ) or affiliated to state university ( LU ) which can help me with that.. ?

Hey, I just installed solar rooftop on-grid and although I had an old 2017 Smart meter, the dept said they cannot configure it to net-meter and they need to change it with the 'new Smart meters'. They have changed it but I have two primary issues -
1. It's a 2023 manufactured unit. I asked for a newer one and he said ki yahi sab jagah lag rha. (I assume ye unke puran dabbe and they anyhow need to get rid off it)
Anyone who has installed solar, is this smart meter thing normal and is there anything for me to worry about?

Hey foodies
Many people have complained about Idrees’s current site because it feels cramped and poorly cleaned, leading people to eat in their cars. The new location sits barely 100 meters before the old one, across from Pata Nala Police Chauki.
Let’s hope this space is kept well and lets more foodies enjoy Idrees Biryani in a better setting. tter place.

Hi,
I have PCOD and as I age it’s getting worse especially with my chin hair. I look like the Goat from Kung fu Panda 2 for 15 days a month, till the chin hair is long enough to wax.
It’s getting embarrassing now and is wreaking a havoc on my confidence.
My trust towards dermats is quite low for obvious reasons, most of them have very little knowledge and are money hungry.
I am looking for trusted clinics that help with laser hair removal. If you or someone you know has gotten the procedure done and you know of a good place then please help me out.
Thanks in advance.

As a local who grew up here (any fellow CMS alumni around?), I’m trying to plan a trip to see some crocodilians in their actual, real natural habitat.
To save everyone time: please don't suggest the zoo or Kukrail. I’ve been to both and that’s not the vibe I’m looking for.
I’ve already scouted the local waters. The Gomti in the main city is basically sewage at this point and completely devoid of wildlife. I also went down to Kudiya Ghat and even ahead on Sultanpur where I booked a boat but nothing except small fishes though water was was clearer as it didn't enter city, checked out that secret check dam spot on Marine Drive where the water is still clear, but zero crocs there either.
I’m looking for untouched riverbanks or wildlife sanctuaries within a reasonable driving distance of the city where they actually live in the wild. My goal is just to admire them safely from a distance and get some really cinematic, aesthetic wildlife shots of them sunbathing on the banks.
Does anyone have recommendations for specific river stretches, nature reserves, or boat safaris nearby where spotting them is a regular occurrence?
Thanks in advance!
(And yes I'm a crocodilian die hard, have gone literally boating with Mugger Crocodiles in a wildlife sanctuary so yes I'm aware and knowledgeable about them)

Me and my friend both are just students and were searching a flat to rent, and we got one and paid half of the amount that is 7k on point.....tho due to some reasons we had to back off. We called the owner within 2-3 hours of our visit, no paperwork or anything was done but she said that she had to spend money on an agreement paper(which ofcs is a lie) but since we had wasted their time we agreed that they can cut 500 Rs for the paperwork or even 1k for the inconveniences.
They said they will return only 5k and that too after someone else takes their flat, they ask us to send tenants to them. It's been a month since they haven't returned a single penny to us. We are just students
Please help us with what we can do, we transferred the money online, didn't sign any documents or whatever and also told them about this within 2-3 hours
