Hi, I have an ASUS VivoBook and my touchpad is partially working.

The cursor movement works fine and left click works, but right click and click-and-drag do not work.

I already checked the Windows touchpad settings, but I couldn't find a solution.

Does anyone know if this is a driver issue or a specific ASUS touchpad setting?

My laptop started making this noise after I dropped it. It only happens when the fan is at full speed.

I want to test it with the bottom cover off because the drop bent the cover a little, so I'm not sure if the noise is from the cover rubbing the fan or the fan itself. I want to confirm before buying any parts.

How can I force the fan to run at full speed, and is it safe to power it on with the bottom cover removed? A tutorial or video would be appreciated.

Recently, I came across the Llano v13 cooling pad, which no one is talking about, and most reviews focus on v12 (NOT ULTRA).

Are there any reasons why? Seems like v13 is the same as v12 just without RGB, and it's cheaper, which seems to be a good choice for gaming laptops (like the newest Tuf Gaming laptops)

I don't know what model this is so I don't know how exactly the cover is held in place. I can't take the smaller part of the cover off because the "person" who was working with this laptop before me ruined the screw and it's not moving just spinning in place. And I'm not sure if I should pull on a cover to open it as is, or are there more screws under that smaller part and I will rip it apart.

But I took my laptop to be Pawned off for some extra cash. Let the business log into said laptop before I was given an embarrassing price for sell, so I subsequently left and put a listing for it up across a couple of apps. I used the laptop casually with the companies info still logged in, not thinking too much about it. I left it to sit for a couple of days before I got the blue screen of death (is what I’m calling it) asking for a Bitlock key. Under the presumption the key would be the account I used when I first got the laptop, I logged in and it doesn’t work. Check all my other emails and they also either don’t have a key, or did but didn’t work for this laptop. So, putting two and two together, I was under the presumption that maybe the pawn shop would have this info but I’ve just been told they can’t help me…

TLDR: anyone have a definitive answer on how I should go about this? I’d be damned to go to an IT professional to get help, and I don’t wanna come out of pocket for something that I’m certain is an easy fix.

Hi! My Laptop's CPU has suddenly been spiking after a cleaning at Local Laptop Repair Shop, and its been reaching a max at 96 degrees while only Google Chrome is running. Is this normal? The shop cleaned dust on my fans and added new thermal paste since it was my first time ever getting my Laptop checked. Previously it would stay at around 40 to 50 degrees, but it hasn't dropped from 60 degrees since opening. Should I bring it back sa shop? Photo for reference:

Another problem I have, is I have no idea what paste brand they used. I didn't pay much attention to it at the time and I'm afraid the shop will dismiss me because of this (not very techy). Thank you!

Looking for a thin laptop with back ports + discrete GPU — is the MSI Prestige 16 AI Studio the only option?

I've been searching for a laptop that checks a very specific set of boxes:

• Ports on the back (this is the big one — I hate side-port clutter)
• Thin and light form factor
• Discrete GPU — RTX 4060/4070 or newer 5060/5070 is fine
• USB-C charging — totally fine if the GPU runs at a lower wattage because of it; I play on low settings anyway

No real budget limit, I just want the right machine.

The MSI Prestige 16 AI Studio B1VGG-057US seemed like exactly what I wanted, but I can't find it anywhere in the US — new or used.

The closest alternative I've found is the LG Gram 16 with the RTX 5050, but it doesn't have back ports, which is a dealbreaker for me.

Am I missing something? Is the MSI Prestige 16 literally the only laptop that does this, or are there other thin laptops with rear-facing ports and a discrete GPU?

Hey guys. I'm on a low budget and getting a laptop to use primarily for writing. So keyboard is really important to me. I tested a Dell Latitude 5420 today and fell in love with the keyboard.

I have an opportunity to get a Latitude 7320, but am unable to test it as I'd need to get it couriered or drive very far to get it in person.

I just want to ask if anyone can attest to whether the keyboard is any different to the 5420? If they're the same, then I'll get the 7320. But if it's different, I might stick with the 5420. Even if specs are better on the 7320, keyboard is a must for me and alot of other laptops I tried, including other dells just didnt have a keyboard i liked at all (even the lenovo thinkpad, not for me).

If it means anything, I'm autistic so I'm very sensitive to tactile which is why I'd notice even the smallest differences

EDIT: being offered a 7420 now as well. for the same price as the others, so seems a much better deal. is the keyboard the same though? also wont be able to test before doing courier

Hello guys! Im looking for a new laptop and i was wondering if buying a used laptop is worth it and is it risky?

i'm not sure what's causing the issue. i have a feeling that it's the graphic card but i'm not sure. it has had this issue before but we updated it and then it stopped for months but it came back again and i can't afford to get a new.

For budget limitations and because it's has none working ram slot (only one is still working) i am thinking of buying it from someone with 30% price decrease which will cost me 60000 DA (250$) instead of 90000 DA (375$) . I really need a good for studying mainly and good for only those specific games "honkai star rail, zenless zone zero, apex legends" because of i don't want to play them on geforce or buying it wouldn't mean anything + if i can play any AAA games on it

First I was going to buy the HP because it looks nicer but I have read a lot of comments that it won’t live that long and won’t get past 3 years so I’m not sure now

Also is it a good deal or should I look for something else?
