I'm 18, and I don't own a laptop or an iPad. Honestly, it's embarrassing because almost everyone around me has one. Sometimes I don't even want to admit it.
The reason is simple: my family can't afford one right now. I'm hoping I'll finally get a laptop when I start university next year, but there's no guarantee.
The last laptop I had was years ago when I was a kid. It was a very low-end laptop that stopped working pretty quickly. I mainly used it to play games, type assignments in Microsoft Word because school required it, and watch some YouTube videos. I've also used my cousins' laptops a few times, but that's about it.
What scares me the most is my future. I see people my age who are already comfortable using computers, while I've mostly had to rely on my phone. I'm worried that when it's time to get a job, I'll struggle because I don't have much experience with PCs.
Some people have been kind about it, but others have acted shocked or even mocked me for not owning a laptop. It makes me feel ashamed, and sometimes I don't even want to make new friends because I'm afraid of being judged.
So I wanted to ask: has anyone else been in a similar situation? If you didn't grow up with a laptop, were you able to catch up once you got one? Is it really that hard to learn computer skills later, or am I overthinking it?
I know this might sound like a small problem to some people, but it genuinely keeps me up at night. I'd really appreciate hearing from people who've been through something similar.

Listen guys, during math class my hip kind of hit my teachers laptop and it fell down the floor (I was extremely embarrassed and I was harassed for it, and somehow the teacher still said it was fine). So I was just wondering if you guys think it broke. Pretty sure it was windows 10, the back of his laptop had a one piece background that came with the laptop or was just customised, lowkey old and seemed like 3-5 years old. If you're wondering how the laptop fell, check the photo. The chair is a generic classroom chair from the Philippines btw.

A good display would be nice given that the laptop is mostly used for visual design and 3D rendering. A decent GPU with 8GB RAM (or even 6GB) seems sufficient.
Considering the following two at the moment. Which of these are worth buying in the current economy
or
Is the Core Ultra 9 on the Alienware worth it, given that she does more office work as well? The screen on the Alienware seems bigger and nicer than the Legion's.
Thank you very much.

Idk whether I should get the Lenovo Yoga Slim 7i Aura Edition (Gen 11, 14-inch, 1TB storage 32GB ram)
OR the M5 Air 16GB ram 512GB SSD
All i do is study, watch youtube at night, and play light games like minecraft/roblox

Pictures will have to come later because I don’t have it at the moment but I’m putting a screenshot at the bottom for an example of what I’m talking about. But I took my laptop to be Pawned off for some extra cash. Let the business log into said laptop before I was given an embarrassing price for sell, so I subsequently left and put a listing for it up across a couple of apps. I used the laptop casually with the companies info still logged in, not thinking too much about it. I left it to sit for a couple of days before I got the blue screen of death (is what I’m calling it) asking for a Bitlock key. Under the presumption the key would be the account I used when I first got the laptop, I logged in and it doesn’t work. Check all my other emails and they also either don’t have a key, or did but didn’t work for this laptop. So, putting two and two together, I was under the presumption that maybe the pawn shop would have this info but I’ve just been told they can’t help me…
TLDR: anyone have a definitive answer on how I should go about this? I’d be damned to go to an IT professional to get help, and I don’t wanna come out of pocket for something that I’m certain is an easy fix.

So basically I am a first year engineering student who has taken the electronics and telecommunication branch but also wants to upskill and learn AI/ML, so I am thinking off to buy a laptop with atleast rtx 5050 gpu or 4060/5060 so how i can convince my family members in simple language that why I need these components in my laptop and how i can convince them that these products became expensive due to price hike...

i'm not sure what's causing the issue. i have a feeling that it's the graphic card but i'm not sure. it has had this issue before but we updated it and then it stopped for months but it came back again and i can't afford to get a new.

I’m going into my first year of university this year and I’ve heard from several sources that gaming laptops are the way to go for mechanical engineering due to the graphical intensity of CAD. So, I saved about 1200 and bought a laptop with a 5060, thinking it was the most optimal use of my money. However, I have a pretty beefy Desktop that is more than strong enough to run any CAD program, and the laptop I bought isn’t necessarily the most mobile (\~5lbs)/power efficient (4hrs on average). Do I return it for a cheaper, more convenient laptop I can just remote to my desktop from? Will this laptop end up being more of a nuisance than a necessity?

Finally put my old 3060 to rest and picked up a raider 16 (RTX 5080). Fired up Marvel Rivals to see what the Blackwell hype is about: 4K, DLSS Quality, FG 6X.
Hitting 229 FPS in actual matches feels straight up illegal. This 6X multiplier is absolutely nuts.
Seriously though, I've been actively trying to spot artifacts or ghosting during crazy fights and I literally can't see any. Are you guys noticing any issues with 6X, or did Nvidia actually just nail it this time?

What are each of the 5 holes at the top of my Dell Pro MaX MA16250? (Not MA16250b, that was a typo). I see multiple cameras which makes sense, a mic... what is the one on the far right for?

Hi, I have an ASUS VivoBook and my touchpad is partially working.
The cursor movement works fine and left click works, but right click and click-and-drag do not work.
I already checked the Windows touchpad settings, but I couldn't find a solution.
Does anyone know if this is a driver issue or a specific ASUS touchpad setting?

My laptop started making this noise after I dropped it. It only happens when the fan is at full speed.
I want to test it with the bottom cover off because the drop bent the cover a little, so I'm not sure if the noise is from the cover rubbing the fan or the fan itself. I want to confirm before buying any parts.
How can I force the fan to run at full speed, and is it safe to power it on with the bottom cover removed? A tutorial or video would be appreciated.

Recently, I came across the Llano v13 cooling pad, which no one is talking about, and most reviews focus on v12 (NOT ULTRA).
Are there any reasons why? Seems like v13 is the same as v12 just without RGB, and it's cheaper, which seems to be a good choice for gaming laptops (like the newest Tuf Gaming laptops)

I don't know what model this is so I don't know how exactly the cover is held in place. I can't take the smaller part of the cover off because the "person" who was working with this laptop before me ruined the screw and it's not moving just spinning in place. And I'm not sure if I should pull on a cover to open it as is, or are there more screws under that smaller part and I will rip it apart.
