Hii. I want a new laptop. And I'm very confused between these two laptops. I'll attach the pics. It's eating up my mind i need to order today and i just can't decide what should I get😭😭. I know that the predator has a better cpu. But i really want that battery life. So my question is, is the cpu upgrade worth sacrificing the build quality and battery life. Or is the cpu on the zephyrus (amd Ryzen 9 270) enough for basically everything. I ain't a very hardcore gamer. I just want my laptop to run basically everything without major issues. Please help me out

the 1st pic is a lenovo ideapad 3 which cost 40750 php(660 usd), while the 2nd pic is an acer asprite lite 15 worth 45900 php (743 usd). the only main difference is the processor, the ryzen 7 7430u but is worth the 5150 php (84 usd) php difference? or no?

Connected my laptop to charger,then the charging light glows. screen lid (panel ) was already opened but laptop was shutdown, then I press the power button of the laptop, but laptop didn't start, and light keeps on glowing even when charger is removed, now laptop is not booting no matter what I do , (with/ with out charger, pressing the power button and opening the lid etc) the light keeps on glowing but laptop wont start. I have faced this problem many times , fixed it by disconnecting and connecting the battery, so why its keep happening and how to fix it ?

Listen guys, during math class my hip kind of hit my teachers laptop and it fell down the floor (I was extremely embarrassed and I was harassed for it, and somehow the teacher still said it was fine). So I was just wondering if you guys think it broke. Pretty sure it was windows 10, the back of his laptop had a one piece background that came with the laptop or was just customised, lowkey old and seemed like 3-5 years old. Hi all. My laptop has been doing this issue where it shuts down randomly and then turns back on a second later. I do gaming quite a bit so this is quite frustrating when I suddenly get disconnected from a game I'm actively participating in.

I cleaned the fans today as best I could, didn't really seem all that dusty anyway. The laptop doesn't seem to be overheating at all, I checked temps and it was around 60° last I checked. Something I also noticed is one time the fans started to blow extremely loud, it's never done it again after that though.

Gonna try and see if I can get it looked at this weekend. I'm obviously no expert at this and I wanna see if anyone can see something I'm not in terms of hardware. Thank you!

I need a new laptop. I would be primarily using it for grad school and writing papers. My husband and I think having a laptop to use between us is a good idea. I’ve been an apple person forever and have only had MacBooks but the price alone is just too much to justify.

I prefer MacBooks and have had the same one for 11 years and it’s time for it to cross the rainbow bridge. I’m open to a windows operating laptop but is there anything comparable out there?

I don’t know a ton of the lingo about operating systems or storage.

I’m going into my first year of university this year and I’ve heard from several sources that gaming laptops are the way to go for mechanical engineering due to the graphical intensity of CAD. So, I saved about 1200 and bought a laptop with a 5060, thinking it was the most optimal use of my money. However, I have a pretty beefy Desktop that is more than strong enough to run any CAD program, and the laptop I bought isn’t necessarily the most mobile (\~5lbs)/power efficient (4hrs on average). Do I return it for a cheaper, more convenient laptop I can just remote to my desktop from? Will this laptop end up being more of a nuisance than a necessity?

Im about to enter high school i know im a little young to be on here or to even get one, but i was looking for laptops to get for personal use mostly ill eventually connect my school account to it so i can do work but i found this laptop:

I want to get it because i want to use it to research educational stuff or stuff im looking into getting or stuff like that, i also wanna use it to keep track of my stuff i need for my small lawn care business, and maybe to communicate with clients, i also want to use discord and other platforms to connect and discuss topics of how i can branch out to other businesses, basically a work laptop but i was thinking this one would br enough to handle all of that, im not going to play any games on it either but what do yall think? My parents said they will talk about it because i made an entire paper thats asking them to let me get it, i said i will take care of it, how i will use it, and i will pay for it, they said they will talk about it but everytime they say that they end up forgetting and start getting mad at me when i ask them if theyve talked about it and it makes me frustrated that i try and convince them of something and they dont take me seriously

So, my laptop (a Lenovo brand for school and personal use) was fine for years. The problem is that this dummy this decided to place something have on it while it was closed for a few hours. And now 4/5ths of my screen has white horizontal lines on it with a purple line of pixel at the edge of the okay and not okay sides.

I’m having a hard time finding consistent information on what my laptop is worth on the used market. I’ve looked at eBay, Facebook Marketplace, and other sites, but the prices seem to be all over the place.
I’m going to list the full specs and condition below. If anyone has experience buying or selling gaming laptops, I’d really appreciate your opinion on what would be a fair asking price and what you think it would realistically sell for.

Condition: runs and works great it does have a dent and a slight bend on the screen but the screen is not effect at all and still looks great.

I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction because I've spent the last few days trying to diagnose this issue and I'm running out of ideas.

I first noticed the problem while playing Dark Souls III. The game starts at around 60 FPS, but after about 10–20 seconds, performance suddenly drops to 20–30 FPS with heavy stuttering.

The first thing I checked was whether the game was actually using the dedicated NVIDIA GPU instead of the integrated graphics. It was.

After that, I started monitoring the system using GPU-Z, HWiNFO64, CPU-Z, and Unigine Heaven to see what was happening.

System

• Lenovo ThinkPad E14 Gen 4
• Intel Core i7-1255U
• NVIDIA GeForce MX550
• Original 65 W Lenovo charger (always plugged in)

I mainly use this laptop for video editing, photo editing, programming, and general productivity, and I've never noticed any issues outside of gaming.

What I've found

While gaming or benchmarking:

• GPU usage stays around 99–100%
• GPU clock stays locked at 1065 MHz
• GPU board power stays around 6–8 W
• HWiNFO reports Power and Thermal as the active performance limiters

The strange part is that, when the laptop is completely cold, the GPU will sometimes draw 20–30 W and perform much better for a short time. After a while, it drops back to 6–8 W and stays there.

What I've already tried

• Updated the BIOS
• Installed the latest NVIDIA drivers
• Confirmed Windows is using the dedicated GPU
• Enabled the highest performance power settings in Windows and Lenovo Vantage
• Disabled Intelligent Cooling Boost in BIOS
• Tested with Unigine Heaven while monitoring sensors

None of these changed the behavior.

I've attached HWiNFO screenshots taken while the GPU was under load.

At this point, I'm trying to figure out whether this is:

• a cooling issue,
• firmware or EC power limiting,
• a hardware problem,
• or something else entirely.

Has anyone seen something like this before or have any suggestions on what I should investigate next?

I'm 18, and I don't own a laptop or an iPad. Honestly, it's embarrassing because almost everyone around me has one. Sometimes I don't even want to admit it.

The reason is simple: my family can't afford one right now. I'm hoping I'll finally get a laptop when I start university next year, but there's no guarantee.

The last laptop I had was years ago when I was a kid. It was a very low-end laptop that stopped working pretty quickly. I mainly used it to play games, type assignments in Microsoft Word because school required it, and watch some YouTube videos. I've also used my cousins' laptops a few times, but that's about it.

What scares me the most is my future. I see people my age who are already comfortable using computers, while I've mostly had to rely on my phone. I'm worried that when it's time to get a job, I'll struggle because I don't have much experience with PCs.

Some people have been kind about it, but others have acted shocked or even mocked me for not owning a laptop. It makes me feel ashamed, and sometimes I don't even want to make new friends because I'm afraid of being judged.

So I wanted to ask: has anyone else been in a similar situation? If you didn't grow up with a laptop, were you able to catch up once you got one? Is it really that hard to learn computer skills later, or am I overthinking it?
