Discussion What's the relevance of asking for your ASAB if you're post-hysto?

Upvotes

When people, usually doctors, ask for your sex assigned at birth, that always comes with a very specific set of assumptions the person is making depending on how you answer. Not only do they assume you were born with a specific set of reproductive organs, but they also assume you retained those organs up into the modern day. So if I had a full hysto and don't have those reproductive organs anymore, continuously taking T, what good does it to say I'm AFAB? It doesn't matter anymore because I don't have those assumed organs, and giving that answer paints an inaccurate picture of me and my sex to whoever is asking. Is there a point where I can just lie about it because answering it truthfully would do me more harm than good?

Advice Needed I used to have severe dysphoria, but don’t anymore?

Upvotes

I have been trans for 5 years and out for 4, and lately, I’ve become comfortable with acting and presenting more feminine. I remember I used to refuse to wear clothing that made me feel slightly feminine because I would’ve rather died than be seen in that kind of way. but now, I could go out in a crop top showing my binder and my waist and I couldn’t care less. I no longer feel the need to be hypermasc anymore. I like the fact that I’m small, too, instead of hating it and wishing I had more muscle and height.

I don’t know what this means for me. I am still a trans man and know with all my heart that is who I wanna be, but my feelings about being masculine have drastically changed. I guess maybe I’ve become more comfortable within my identity? has anybody else experienced something similar to this? I’m pre everything, by the way

Surgery Talk Hey so what are their advantages of a hysterectomy?

Discussion Life For Trans Men In The 90s

Upvotes

Hiya!
I’m currently writing a story about a trans man in a twd style zombie apocalypse, however it is set in the mid - late nineties. I’m hoping for some input from older trans folk on what it was like transitioning in the 90s!
Main questions I have;

• Binding - What would’ve been used? Bandages? were clip binders a thing at the time? multiple sports bras?

• Testosterone - Was it possible to get testosterone in your 20s? What was the common method of application? How expensive was it?

• Public Outlook - What did other members of the queer community typically think of trans men? what was the general opinion on transgender people? (ik it would be area specific, story is set in chicago if thats relevant.)

• Name Change - Was it possible to legally change your name? Was being completely stealth at all possible?

Forgive my ignorance 🙏 i am in my 20s and started transitioning in late 2020 so I don’t have much knowledge about any of this. Any answers or anecdotes would be greatly appreciated!!
Thank you for taking the time to read this :))

Discussion Formal Shoes with Tiny Feet?

Upvotes

Ok, this is a weird one, I'll admit. I recently got a new job that requires a more formal professional dress code. I would like to get new mens formal wear, including a new pair of formal shoes. The issue is that I have teeny tiny feet at a size 6-7 women's. Do y'all have any recommendations for brands that sell mens shoes for tiny feet? Bonus points for if they're relatively affordable.

Thanks in advance.

Celebratory Dad said I look like one of my male cousins 🎉

Upvotes

All of my life, ever since I was a kid, everyone in my family told me I look like my two female cousins on my Dad's side. Same shape of nose, similar hair, face etc. Just younger (they're both ten or more years older than me)

Today I met up with my parents at the mall to chat; my grandpa was with them and didn't recognize me at first - he doesn't know I'm trans and I don't mind, he was a little confused because of my buzzcut. Anyway.

We sat down to chat and that's when my Dad turned to my Mama to tell her I now look like one of my male cousins (the brother of one of the female cousins I was always told I looked like) with the only difference being that his face is rounder than mine.

My parents don't fully understand the "whole trans thing" and aren't the best at showing their emotions, but they're doing their best, I think.

So that made me really happy.

Advice given Note to all singers starting on T!

You gotta to prioritize your higher range. You’re starting masc puberty now, your voice isn’t gonna stay high, and while it’s dropping, you’ll lose the ability to sing a lot of great numbers. That isn’t dependant on the person, it’s just an inevitability.

My buddy really worked on his higher range while he was starting on T, and somehow never lost his falsetto the whole time, and could even project it out on stage. Since I only ever practiced my lower range, I completely lost the ability to sing even the non-crazy tenor songs for like, 4 years. I just got it back over a year ago, and while I lost all the bass notes I could somewhat hit as a teenager, it’s much nicer to be able to sing the long list of songs I wish I could before. Everyone’s voice evens out eventually, but it took my voice a whopping 7 years to sing the songs I wanted to. Which was completely on me: the only person I’d ever chastise for making that mistake.

This isn’t a dire issue, and if you have a lower voice and plan on being a bass singer, this probably isn’t applicable. But I know how fucking annoying it is to lose your tenor range otherwise. If you’re in theatre, other than the old men who notoriously have the worst songs, basically every song is meant for a tenor. Did Newsies in 2019 when I had about an octave of a range to work with. Had a fantastic time, couldn’t hit a single note though.

Advice Needed Packers

So for context: i have a coworker that kinda kicks others in the croutch as a joke. (I gotta say his jokes are funny except that one).

So i have been wearing a sock packer for the past 2 years. And now im afraid it might feel "unatural" if he kicks me there. I usually make the socks very tight put together that way its relatively hard…
What are some ways to craft a packer from scratch to make it feel natural and NOT HARD?

Advice Needed Can’t pinch skin for subq injection

Hi, I am about to take my third T shot and I want to try on my thighs. I have been attempting to do it on my love handles and while that has worked I ofc want to switch it up. I’ve been able to semi pinch my love handles because there’s not a lot of skin so even though it’s exactly like i’m describing it’s not a huge block of it like my thighs are? I’m still having trouble and i slipped last week and injected not pinching.

I have found that my skin in all the subq areas I can reach on my own is basically unpinchable? The internet says it’s important to pinch for subq so I want to make sure I am. My skin is like, not flabby or loose and feels like a big connected piece of tough rubber? Not rubber exactly but that’s the easiest explanation. I’ve watched a million how to inject T videos and every way these guys pinch skin I can’t do?? I’m not super skinny so it’s not that I don’t have any, it’s that there’s like a wall of something beneath it that blocks me from picking it up and pinching.

I’ve been watching a video from Queermed by a cis male doctor and the way he pinched his stomach near his belly button is impossible for me and i’m so frustrated.

I really hope this makes sense because I am struggling a lot.

Advice Needed Any advice for a transmasc about to start T?

I'm a transmasc dude in Alabama, and I'm waiting for my labs to come back and to be able to start T any day now.

Obviously, I've had the "here's what to expect" from my doc, I've bought everything I need to start, and I know about the increase in libido that sounds like I'll have to release 3-4 times a day minimum.

I'll be taking 0.2 mL 200 mg/mL subq injections with 25 gauge needles (I'm scared of needles and I'll be icing the area to numb it beforehand so the process should be practically painless.) I guess I'm just really nervous while I wait for my labs and everything, does anyone have any general advice about T, what to expect, tips and tricks?

(Side note: I want to do something cool and artistic with the empty vials. Has anyone done anything interesting with their T vials after they've been used?)

Advice Needed Newly transgender: on the hunt for pants.

I've always considered myself a fashionable person, no matter my gender. With my transition, I have a very specific look in mind, fashion wise. I like a button up shirt and suit pants. Question is, where do I find pants that will look good without having to buy women's pants ?? I'm cultivating a vibe here. Where does one get pants that don't make me look like I'm shoving ten pounds of ass in a five pound pant.

Thank you for any help in this regard 🙏🏻🙏🏻 together we can create a world where I have flattering pants

Relationships My boyfriend is trans and i need advice on how to affirm him.

my boyfriend is trans 20, and so am i, trans man 19. and i want to find more ways i can affirm him while he's still loading (he's about 1 month on T gel) and there hasn't been many visible changes yet and i want to know some advice on how i can affirm him while he's waiting for more changes. i've been on T shots for a little over a year and i know how hard it is to wait. do you guys have any advice? for more info/context, he's only been out for like a year and he's having a difficult time trying to find himself outside of his gender and his upbringing, and i feel like i'm being supportive and helpful, (i convinced him that he should just bite the bullet and get on T instead of waiting for his life to be "perfect" to do it. as well as encouraging him to see a therapist and a psychiatrist for his debilitating anxiety, which he is now medicated for and is feeling much better) but i still want to help in any way i can. help!

Discussion facial hair timelines

hey yall! i’ve been on t about a year and a half and my facial hair is coming in a LOT but only as a neckbeard lmfao. i know a lot of other guys here have this problem too, i was wondering how the timeline looked for yall; when the neckbeard came in, about how long after that did it take for chin hair, mustache, etc. to come in (relatively noticeably)?
i know its different for everyone but i’m curious if there’s a general ballpark/estimate to when it starts migrating to the actual face lol

Advice Needed Doctor in Utah

I’ve just moved to Utah and I’m about 3 months on T, but this new doctor I’m seeing says I can use the same vial for 4 doses. like I inject only .25 of the tiny T vial and throw the rest away, because i can’t store it after puncturing the top. I asked my doctor why he only gave me one tiny T vial for the month, (when i’d normally need 4) and this was his response.

“I'll add more refills at our next follow-up in October. My default is to order 3 months worth. Each vial should have 4 doses in it so should last a month. There is an option for a 5 ml vial (20 doses) but technically it's better to get fresher vials so I usually do the 1 ml vials”

He also said I can use the same needle for drawing the medicine as injecting it. does this sound right? I feel like that’s… everything I was told not to do.

I have no clue what i’m doing and i really could use some help, please be kind and i don’t really know the medical laws all that well here. should i switch to a different clinic?

Medical Testosterone is low but being told it’s fine?

(im in the uk to preface so nhs, shared care agreement)

I just had a blood test done 4 months on T (should’ve been 3 but they fucked up and didnt test my testosterone at all) and my serum T came back as 6nmol/l and says on my nhs app that it’s in normal range but every prescribing guide via the nhs says 8nmol/l is the absolute lowest it should be? should I just book an apt with my doctor anyway? I hate being bothersome but yk this shit kinda important. i dont have any of the “symptoms“ my endo describes of my T being too low like lowered energy and stuff but i also never had any of the energy jump I was told I’d have every shot either so… idk. just lookin for some advice.

im on 4 week intervals of sustanon.

edit: added my med and freq of dose

Advice Needed 1 strip of tape vs 2?

so for the longest time i’ve only used one strip of tape, and that’s been enough to flatten my chest enough. but in recent months ive gained some weight and my chest is not quite as flat as i’d like with one strip of tape, so ive been experimenting with doing two for better coverage. it works in the sense that it gets me super flat, but ive noticed that when i do 2 strips i always find that whichever tape strip is overlapping the other will start to peel up after 24 hours (or less), and then the part that peels up starts sticking to my shirt and the whole strip will get loose, and i end up having to take my tape off prematurely which is 1) a waste of tape 2) bad for my skin. i’d really like to keep using the 2 strip method b/c i hate having to worry about whether im flat enough, but it’s been rough on my skin and i also feel like im going through way too much tape

any advice/tips or tricks? am i doing something wrong? i do work a super physical job, so lots of lifting/reaching/sweating.
