God I love this game. 2x recipe parts and 25x elevator. Even just 2x is surprisingly brutal the pressure on early input volume is constant, and I haven't even finished phase 3.

I love building organic, giant, looooooming factories. The sense of scale you get in this game is just amazing <3

dont question it, I think I might have OCD or something, also sorry about the last image, I know that it's a really lame looking factory but I really just wanted to be done with phase 3, and sometimes you just gotta wing it.

And today, for the first time ever, after 1900 hours of gameplay (yes a lot of that was AFK hours), countless restarts, and multiple computer upgrades/replacements, I have completed the game.

Credits reached, all trophies, all MAM research, all tech tree, all alt recipes, all achievements. I honestly never thought this day would come.

Obviously they aren’t powered in the pic but even when they are all powered sufficiently and the extractors are full my coal plants directly above aren’t getting any water, it’s one pipe to one plant if that matters. Sorry I’m not very good at this stuff so if I’m being stupid just tell me

Modded Content Reupload: New Custom Space Delivery Terminal, Dynamic Recipe and Item Management Mod. Coming soon to SMR

Hello!

I wanted to share the joy of finally being close to releasing a mod I've been working on for a long time, along with some details about what it brings to the game. I originally started this mod just to add a few items for myself, but things completely spiraled out of control... in a good way!

1. Dynamic Recipe Management

No more messing with .json or .yaml files. I've created a Web Portal where you can add entirely new items and recipes with ZERO coding knowledge. The system automatically handles all calculations, including liquids and gases. You can visually create your new production chains in your own workspace.

2. Visual Asset Library

I've built a visual library with 120 different 3D assets and 2D icons that perfectly fit the game's aesthetic (and I plan to slowly expand this over time). You are no longer forced to reuse existing vanilla visuals like in other mods. Everyone can have unique 3D visuals, providing a truly personalized factory experience.

3. Vanilla Recipe Editing

To respect players' current hard work and factories, the base mod does not touch any vanilla recipes. However, if you want, you have the full power to edit any vanilla recipe or create custom alternatives through the portal.

4. THE SPACE DELIVERY TERMINAL

This is my favorite part. I always felt the endgame motivation dropped off heavily after finishing the Space Elevator phases. To fix this, I modeled a brand new building from scratch (using SolidWorks). The new Space Delivery Terminal will request 4 random item slots from you—this includes vanilla items AND the custom items from your own production chains! Completing an order rewards you with 60 FICSIT Coupons. Don't want to make a specific order? You can reroll it for 50 coupons.

5. Interactive WIKI

I created a Google-style Wiki page on the Web Portal. You can search for any item or recipe to track its production and usage. If you create a custom production chain in your workspace, you get a "My Wiki" page. This seamlessly merges your custom recipes with the vanilla ones into a personalized wiki you can use at any time!

6. Workspace

On the portal, you can create, merge, and share as many projects as you want in your workspace, or you can build upon the mod's original production chains.

7. Security

To ensure the mod runs perfectly and to keep your custom workspaces secure, your production chain files are securely linked to your Epic/Steam ID via our official Epic Games 3rd Party App integration. This ensures your unique factory data is safe and strictly yours!

8. Multi-Language Support

We want everyone to enjoy this experience comfortably! The mod itself currently features built-in support for 6 different localized languages in-game, and the Web Portal fully supports 5 languages. You can build and manage your factory in your native language.

9. 100% Free

All components of this mod—the web portal, workspace, wiki, file merging, etc.—are offered 100% free of charge.

I am incredibly proud of the final state of this mod. All testing is complete, everything works 100%, and you will be able to download it from SMR very soon!

The original version of the mod includes 40 new 3D items and approximately 30 hours of new production chains. Since I haven't altered the vanilla recipes, you can continue playing using your existing save file!

In the next phase, I want to make the in-game coupons more valuable; maybe we can build a town for ourselves somewhere. From an administrative office, we’ll be able to see all production processes, consumption, and so on in real time.

Transparency Note: Artificial intelligence was used during the development process to provide support, particularly regarding the integration of the web portal and the adaptation of 3D visuals to the editor. However, the Space Delivery Terminal was modeled entirely from scratch by me using SolidWorks to ensure it fits the game’s theme perfectly.

Updated photos of the Tower of Babel

pictures from various times, you can see it change

we are in phase 4, only just starting on the magnetic field generators after doing 5 assembly director systems per minute. it is 256*256*>600m tall, consisting of nine 80m*80m squares, each separated by a single foundation. this puts its at over double and maybe even over triple the volume of the largest factory in the world, which is owned by Boeing. i think its over 2 billion cubic feet by now.

that thing spiraling up around the sides in some of the pictures with it at its current height are train tracks, taking 10 uranium fuel rods per minute and returning with 500 waste per minute. it gets going at like 250 km/h on the way down and its awesome.

the shorter portion to the right of the tower is the railyard. currently, it supports 10 trains, each with four locomotives and ten cars, although there are only eight built right now.

we have had to move the space elevator up two floors because it was simply too tall, and the space elevator would cause problems with building the next floor.

the second to last picture is looking down from the top of the tower. it is so tall that fog fully obscures the floor that the space elevator was on, and then disappears again.

i have noticed an issue with the drone pathfinding because it is so tall. if you place the drone port so that the back eight meters are hanging off the side of the foundation, the drone will always fly up to the very top of the structure before descending. this is really killing my throughput lol

anyways thats all :3

My first time going vertical in this game. 144GW off of 2400 rocket fuel. Each large tower consists of 3 wings of 6 floors with 4 gens per floor per wing, 72 gens running at 200%, 288 total.

And I have managed to go a year without dying.

Discussion Pumps and the suggested distance inbetween

I don'y know who needs to hear this, but I just realised that when making vertical pipes the game will suggest a placement for the next pipe. This is a trap to slow flowing fluids! I am using mk.2 pumps and the suggest distance is almost 5 meter higher than the pumps suggested headlift.

Any tips from builders of round factories?

  • Team game on a private server so we've agreed to satellite factories and trucks/trains for distribution - hence the station right outside for future connections!
  • Any tips on the roof?
  • There will be smelters all the way around but I thought I'd ask here before finishing it off. I don't need the capacity right now anyway.

49hrs into my first save and all this time I used to edit my to-do list by adding a machine to it. While playing today I clicked something on my inventory page and the to-do list opened and then I noticed clicking on the right side of the screen opens the to-do list. I felt so dumb!

My Best Friend Ben passed away on 12 July 2026. I wrote this review as a memorial to him. I know everyone here will understand in one way or another.

https://steamcommunity.com/id/sgtshaggy/recommended/526870/

TLDR:Ā

This game is an overwhelming masterpiece in nearly every way. Buy it.

However, if you want a long tale based in loss and the power of gaming, stick around. Warning, though - there may be tears.

MY BEST FRIEND BEN:

I met my Best Friend Ben on GameTZ somewhere between 25 and 30 years ago. Right after I left the Navy in 1997 I started trading physical copies of games online. I met him in that process, in the forums. This was before Steam, before physical copies, back when you had to run GetRight all night to download the XCOM: Apocalypse Demo after pinging onto your 33.6.

We talked for a year or two, just on GameTZ. I lived in West Virginia, at the time he lived in Georgia. Then, when he was headed to Indonesia to get married, my wife at the time asked him to bring something back for our newborn. He did just that. I can’t remember what he bought and mailed to us for our daughter but it further cemented our relationship.Ā

With the advent of real online gaming made possible by faster connection speeds, we started playing games online. First it was The Dark Age of Camelot. We had no idea what an MMO really was but we learned quick enough. Before long we were farming Darkness Falls and being a stealthy lil terror duo in PvP on his Infiltrator and my Scout. We dipped out, played some Final Fantasy XI (he wasn’t really a big fan) but when World of WarCraft came along it was on. I received a beta key and we shared that account for most of the spring and early summer until he finally got his own. We played for years, started and ran our own guild (he was a hothead at the time, not fit for running a guild lol), and eventually we fell into a non-MMO rhythm after we fell off of WoW, playing anything cooperative and online, from Civilization V to Company of Heroes, Rise of Nations to Heroes of the Storm, Diablo III to Baldur’s Gate III, you name it. For years we’d wake on Sunday mornings and play for hours, not to mention what time we could fit in the rest of the week.

We finally met in person years later. I finally took the wife and daughter to Florida for the obligatory Disney visitation. At the time he and his wife lived in Florida, having moved there from Georgia chasing jobs; rather, fleeing the lack thereof. We booked adjoining rooms and all of us had a blast for several days at Universal, Disney, and several restaurants. Turns out, we still liked one another in RL.

Did Ben and I ever become close? Yes, but in our own way. At the time, and for other vacations together while I was still married, neither of us were very open. We gamed and talked about work but that was about it. We didn’t share, per se, just found time away from the real world while blowing up Russians or wooing Shadowheart. Mostly we found succor in our shared enjoyment of online games, from MMOs to RTS, eventually leading to tactical games and CPRGs. Our gaming tastes grew with us.

ENTER LYMPHOMA:

Say it with me.

FUCK CANCER.

Ben and I were playing something online in late summer/early fall of 2025. I forget what, tbh. Probably Baldur’s Gate 3. Anyway, we were chatting on Discord, and he was persistently coughing. I mentioned the persistence to him and he replied that he had an appointment that next week or so to find out what was going on.

Turns out lymphoma was going on. He was diagnosed a bit later, in September or October of 2025, as I recall. He was in and out of the hospital for a while. He had fluid around his heart and, while it was at it, drowning his lungs. They sorted that out but not before he nearly died. I talked him into buying a Steam Deck for all the visits and treatments; it kept him sane. It also allowed us to play online while he was in the hospital. In case you're wondering, the WiFi in a coupla Florida hospitals is pretty damn good (namely Tampa General, thanks guys).

Early on we played Sons of the Forest. A game he chose and even before he was sick I’d generally just buy whatever he was interested in to play online. I wasn’t so picky; he was.

(General aside about my Best Friend Ben. He was an asshole. He was honest, up front, and unafraid to be vocal about his boundaries. I was not this guy but I learned it from him, over the years. He wasn’t showy about it, he didn’t put on airs, he was just what you saw - what you see is what you get. We had our arguments, for sure, and learned from one another, but that kinda honesty is hard to find in life and I miss him - and his honesty - so much now.)

Sons of the Forest was a great game for us at the time. Dip in, survive, dip out, have some dynamically fun and interesting times even when we were just chopping logs and forgetting about everything outside of our tiny sphere. We built the dumbest town; the moved and built a bigger, dumber town.

Then, one night, I woke at 2am for no good reason. I’d wanted to try Satisfactory for ages. What was this weird little automation game that had so many ardent fans? And amazing reviews? I snagged it, stayed up a coupla hours playing it, then went back to bed and off to work the next day. And Satisfactory all the evening. And the next. And all day on my day off.

As a review proper, I’ll just say that anyone could play this game and love it. It’s made for people who love games. Not just for folks that love shooters or open worlds or automation. It’s made for gamers. The love and humor and detail in Satisfactory is top tier. I couldn’t believe it was from the guys who’d made Goat Simulator. WTF? But yeah, go buy it, there’s nothing else truly like it.

I gushed about Satisfactor to my Best Friend Ben. We were at the tail end of Sons of the Forest. While we were finishing up Sons, actually, Ben in the hospital again, he mentioned, ā€œI bought Satisfactory, guess we are playing that next.ā€

We started playing peer-to-peer. He was home after his initial treatments. His cough was so much better, his breathing improved 1000%. After a coupla days I decided to rent a server for us. Indifferent Broccoli hooked me up with a sweet server for around 15 bucks and we were off.

And when I say we were off, man were we off. We played every minute of every day. The game sucked us in and we turned that world into our own personal town. We called it Good Enough because we were kinda lazy, calling our factory setups good enough all of the time. I hung a billboard way up in the air above our hub with ā€œGood Enoughā€ on it. We would work separately in areas, sometimes one of us exploring, the other building a rail line, and then sometimes we’d come together to set up our first true coal plant. I’d visit his main area and graffiti not-so-nice words on the wall by changing the color of panels; he’d mix up my sorting at the storage area and make me crazy. It was fun!

Over the span of two months or so, while he was home, before the cancer jumped into his liver, we racked up an insane number of server hours. We had so many laughs with our silly spaghetti factories and we’d still laugh when we started crunching numbers and using calculators to truly make our factories shine. We were 80% functional, 20% style, but it was Good Enough.

My Best Friend Ben passed away on 12 July 2026. I was able to drive down to visit him for a little over a week in late June. They were trying one last Hail Mary of a treatment after giving him the option for that treatment or to just go home and die. He was tired by then, so much on his mind he could barely play anything on his Steam Deck. He could barely walk but I stayed at the hospital with him, day and night, we had our Slumber Parties and our Bromance and we found peace in having zero expectations during those days. I think the world and some of his family had worn him down too. He just needed to exist a little while. And we found that with one another. If you’ve been there, you know. I didn’t before my visit, not really. I wouldn’t change that week for anything at all. The last I saw him I was headed to the car to drive back. We had a long hug and a boop - that was how we said we loved one another, by bumping foreheads. One last hug, one last boop, then I drove home. A week later he was headed home, the last treatment not having taken hold like the docs had wanted. He ordered some root beers to have (he was a root beer connoisseur) and then he quietly passed early on a Sunday morning a little over a week after arriving home.

Satisfactory gave us those last two months online before lymphoma metastasized to his liver and slowly killed him. It enabled us to have the time of our lives while he was dying. I have so many fond memories built upon Satisafactory with my Ben. I’ve since closed down our server but not before saving Good Enough onto my own hard drive. If I want to visit Ben I can just go load it up and fly through that first spaghetti super factory of his that tanked my FPS when I would come near. I can remember him flying up to me above that enormous, silly factory and giving me the heart emote with his character’s hands. I will cherish those memories, and that screenshot, until I follow him into the void.

Love and miss you brudda.

PS

Say it with me:Ā

FUCK CANCER.

I might have found a new size for circles?

I don't know if anyone has shared this before, but this is not the regular size so hopefully this can be helpful to some pioneers.

I am currently working on my rocket fuel power plant in the blue crater. I followed the tutorial on Youtube to build a circular base, but the regular circle with the diameter of 11 or 21 bases is still too small. So I tried tripling the scale, that is assuming (3x3) bases as one whole base and zoop it 5 times, making it 33 base diameter. However this does not work perfectly, as you can see there's still some overlap on the outer edge. (Maths, duh.)

33 diameter (1.5+15 radius)

But it felt so close...so I added a half-size base. And it worked.

34 diameter (1.5+15+0.5 radius)

Now the outer edge looks cleaner.

Also a smaller inner circle can be made.

I managed to do this but I guess I'll never do a round building after this...except maybe 11 or 21 standard ones. Too much trial and false for scaling.

Question I cannot figure out why these bio burners won't power these machines

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Edit: it was the hover pack šŸ¤¦ā€ā™‚ļø

I just set up these machines to fill a crate with reanimated SAM while I went looking for hard drives but I couldn't figure out why these bio burners wouldn't provide power. Just one generator should be enough to power the mk.1 miner and two constructors, I tried different fuels, rebuilding everything but I ended up just taking the time to connect it back to my base. Have I just forgotten some part of how bio burners work?

810 hours. Finally completed Phase 5.

Finally got the last ballistic warp drive built and loaded into the space elevator this morning. Enjoyed the sequence. Watched all the credits roll. Went back to my HUB, saved, and exited.

810 hours. My "setup" is laughably bad - it would've looked at home in a Mad Max movie. I abandoned any plans at building any kind of real factory hundreds of hours ago. Multiple attempts just left me unsatisfied and with a crapload of materials. At the end of the day, it was basically what remained of a half-built idea with a few constructors, a few assemblers, and 2 manufacturers. I basically dropped down a particle accelerator near a coal node that had space around it just to crank out diamonds. I put a converter and quantum encoder down (actually, floated it on a platform in the middle of my setup) to chug out whatever I needed. Eventually added a 2nd particle accelerator to the mix.

I managed to get all this on 7600 MW of power, with another 1200 in reserve from biomass. I never built past normal fuel-powered generators. I made turbofuel but just tanked it. Same with rocket fuel. Never even used it. Tapped a uranium node, made some rods, but just stuck them in a containers. Just about everything was confined to the Grass Fields starting area and the Western Beaches, where my oil stuff was set up. I spent so much time just driving between the two places to pick things up. I had trucks at one point but never really needed the amount of resources they carried so they'd always end up just moving from one point to another, always full, never unloading. Same with the single train I'd build between the two areas. In the end, the entire thing ended up basically "make on demand". Plus, the driving gave me something to do when I was waiting on something to complete (like those 1,000+ nuclear pastas I needed).

I explored the whole map. I gathered every hard drive, researched every alt recipe. I would've done more sphere, slug, and sloop hunting but I already had many times more than I needed. I finished every research tree except for the final Alien Tech (that last one that requires singularity cells). I've got plenty of those so I'll probably go ahead and do that one after I post this.

I'm pretty happy with myself. Without ADA mandating my goals anymore, I feel like I can relax and just play in the sandbox. I've got everything in the shop except for the trophies. Currently have about 375 tickets in the sink, just churning towards to Golden Nut.
