No one was hurt... this time. Apparently some kids were playing chicken with a train in Fairport. Train had to stop, the crew had to be replaced because they were so shaken and it held up foot traffic on Main Street for over an hour. (Cars already couldn't use it due to construction.)

If you have kids, please teach them better than this. I did plenty of stupid things when I was their age. I think everyone did. But we NEVER would have done this.

Edit: This is not my video. I found it on YouTube. There is a rail fan area where the video was taken. I figured someone would have it online e at some point.

I wasn't right there when it happened. I was close enough to see the train stop but not what had occurred.

Firetrucks and EMTs showed up within minutes. I didn't see any police but I suspect they were on the other side taking witness accounts.

Six assailants. New York sets the threshold for gang assault at three. Any bets on whether DA Brian Green has the willingness to live up to his oath and faithfully enforce New York law?

Discussion What’s actually up with the new “Seven Brew” on Empire?

I was not familiar with this business prior to this location opening on Empire Blvd. What’s the deal? The place is often SWAMPED with cars, sometimes wrapping out of the parking lot (they even have traffic directors). Most days there are also like 25+ teenagers out front waving “free drinks” signs roadside at traffic in all weather conditions & often there are multiple booth style tents set up in the parking lot with different companies at them like a mini convention. I also often see full on decorations happening some days with like.. Hawaiian style inflated balloon palm trees and people dressed up, & bunch of LED lights. Shit, today there were a ton of them in the parking lot dressed up as what looked like literal res phone booths! I’ve also seen many cars in the area with writing on the windows like “we love 7 brew!” etc. It’s catching me very off guard most days now as I pass that area often in my daily commute.

I’m all for a business having a positive environment & this post isn’t meant to come across as me hating or being a grouchy old individual. I’m just genuinely curious about all the buzz & why they are always just giving their product away for free?🤔 Is this common for this company & as far as concurrent busyness, will it calm down as time passes or should I expect this to be a new normal for traffic in that area? Regardless, it’s working because it has my attention & i’d be lying if I said I wasn’t considering stopping & trying something.

Recommendation Seeking a Male Therapist for Men's Mental Health & Major Life Transitions (Rochester, NY)

Looking for recommendations for an exceptional male therapist in the Rochester, NY area.

This is for a 58 year old man who is going through an extremely difficult emotional crisis after an unexpected pregnancy. He's normally outgoing, social, resilient, the life of the party, and has never been someone who struggles with anxiety or depression.

Over the past month, he's become a completely different person. He's had severe insomnia, says his mind won't stop spinning, feels like he's in a dark place, has withdrawn from people and activities he normally loves, says he doesn't want to see anyone, talk to anyone, or do anything, and is overwhelmed trying to process what he sees as a life-altering change.

I'm looking for a therapist who is especially good with men facing major life transitions, grief, trauma, or overwhelming stress. Ideally, someone who is direct, experienced, and connects well with men who normally would never consider therapy. Experience helping men navigate unexpected pregnancies or similarly life-altering situations would be a huge plus.

Personal recommendations would mean a lot. Thank you.

Food Where can I get pancakes, eggs, mozzarella sticks, and pizza logs in one meal?

My husband has a very specific dinner craving: pancakes, eggs, mozzarella sticks, and pizza logs… all in the same meal.

We used to go to Golden Fox on Culver Rd, but it seems to have closed. It was one place that could satisfy all of those cravings at once.

Is there anywhere around Rochester that can make this combination happen?

Help Anyone with celiac and good recommendations?

Hi!

I grew up in Brighton, hoping to move back in the next year or two. My husband has never been to Rochester and we’re going to visit in early October or September.

Any recommendations on places to eat in Brighton, Pittsford, Fairport etc? Not looking to really dive into downtown too much honestly.

Nothing crazy either (if you have celiac you get it). I just would like some food I don’t need to make myself in a hotel room at some point. 😄

Help Considering Basement Apartment, is it worth it?

I’m an incoming PhD student from Texas and, being so far away, has proven to be an issue when it comes to renting. I’m having placing a lot of trust in property owners and I have seen plenty of warnings about which ones to avoid.

Right now, I’m kinda down to the wire for renting. Being far away puts me at a disadvantage for apartment showings and getting my foot in the door.

Right now, I found an apartment that seems to check all my boxes except for one thing I’m super not used to. A basement rental.

I have ZERO experience with basements, let alone basement living, I wanted to get opinions if this is something I should consider seriously or if I need to keep looking. Additionally, any other tips are welcomed! Thank yall! 🦭

EDIT: Thank you everyone who responded!! All your comments were spot on. That ‘apartment’ was shit lolll. The hunt goes on…

Discussion Calkins Rd

Does anyone else feel like the construction on calkins is not just slow, but poor quality? Anywhere they’ve needed to cut into the road is a half assed patch and now that road just feels bad to drive down. I go down this street every day for work so there might be some bias, but now I’m wishing after they’re done with the sewer (I think that’s what they’re doing anyways) u think they should replace that section of road entirely
