Calling pitches from the dugout
Nice article from Spencer. One bit jumped out to me, “Ford asserted that the calls from the dugout almost always affirm what he’s initially planning to call.” Seems to me this implies the pitch selection is too predictable. I’ve always thought that a big advantage of calling pitches from the dugout is the ability to better implement a mixed strategy Nash equilibrium, since people are generally bad random number generators and it’s easier for someone in the dugout to implement a strategy that requires throwing a particular pitch say 16% of the time.

Concert question
Hello! I'm going to the MCR concert in August and I haven't been to the park in ages. Are belt chains/boot chains allowed through security, or do they need to be removed? They're stainless steel decorations on my boots and the belt chain is the same. Neither would block the clear bag I plan to bring.

It's a big day in Washington Nationals history
Twenty years ago today, July 21, 2006, the team's new owners introduced the Racing Presidents in the 4th inning at RFK stadium.

Sleep … when you’re my age.
Trigger warning: not actually about baseball.
By this point in the season, I’m usually ready to shoot myself every time an ad comes on between innings because I’ve seen them all 1,000 times. But I can’t look away from that one. Walken is a genius, and his delivery of that line, as he slides the bottle of beer, is Oscar-worthy.
But also: what is a going on in that ad? Walken isn’t in the first shot, but then, in the second shot, suddenly appears in the seat next to the guy with the phone. Is Walken a ghost? A figment of phone guy’s imagination? But then why does phone guy’s friend also seem to see Walken up in the “balcony” in the next scene?
Ok, Woody’s up. Gotta get back to the game.

Nationals Park 1st Timer
Hey everyone, Reds fan coming in peace with my fam this Friday night. First off--I read the FAQ posted and I've also explored a few similar topics already posted in the sub.
Are there any "can't miss" spots in and outside the ballpark? Coming from GABP, we've got a few elements that I would easily tell a first-time to check-out, so wanting to see if there is anything I make sure to include.
Same as above, but for food. Everyone has their favorites--which ones are can't miss? I'm thinking about making the Chili Bowl Half Smoke my focus on Friday night, but would love additional ideas.
My family & I have tickets in RF on Friday night and I've got Corbin Carroll (sorry) & James Wood on my fantasy team--so I'm pretty pumped.
Hoping for a Nats win and maybe solid games from James Wood & Luis García especially! :-)

51-50. Why can’t this be love?
If you can’t get up for summer nights like this, you’re just not good enough of a fan, inside your heart. Young, known for his glove, walks in and smacks a dinger, and then Cosgrove came in and was the closer of our dreams. With a dominant offense and a closer that closes, we finally got the best of both worlds.
